Chapter 195 Kneeling

After Sheng Xuan agreed, he helped her downstairs to see Yuan Heng.

Yuan Heng sat on the sofa, happily enjoying his takeout meal.

"Ah Lang, your medicinal meal isn't ready yet; it won't be here for another half hour. This is dinner that Jue Yi brought for me; she'll be coming over to eat with me in a bit."

Ning Lang smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

"I'm going back to the old house for a bit, so we can have dinner there. We'll add some dishes for you once the medicinal cuisine is delivered."

Yuan Heng looked at Sheng Xuan and said, "Then you..."

"Come to the hospital tomorrow, don't come tonight." Sheng Xuan said, "I've already signed the papers at the nurses' station, promising to be here before eight o'clock tomorrow."

Yuan Heng secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That's good, that's good. A Lang, you have to listen to Jue Yi and stay here to prepare for childbirth."

"Okay." Ning Lang nodded and explained, "I can't eat just anything. I'll order my own medicinal meals from now on."

"Okay, okay." Yuan Heng's eyes crinkled with a smile. "See you tomorrow!"

...

In the afternoon, Ah Bai drove to the airport to pick them up, leaving the business car with Sheng Xuan.

As soon as Ning Lang sat down, she called the housekeeper of the old house to say that she wanted to go back for dinner. She ordered two dishes and then hung up.

Sheng Xuan knew that she had deliberately revealed this to the elders.

More than half an hour later, they arrived at the entrance of the old house.

Night had fallen, and the stone lions at the gate stood majestic and desolate, with only two large lanterns casting a soft orange glow.

The butler waited outside, forcing a nervous smile, his eyes full of worry.

“Young Miss, you’re finally back. The old master, the master and mistress are all in the main hall… The old master even ordered someone to fetch the family cane.”

Ning Lang nodded calmly, "I understand, thank you Uncle Liu."

Sheng Xuanjun's face darkened as he helped her walk step by step toward the main hall.

From afar, Ning Lang could see the old man sitting in the head seat, his parents sitting below him, and no one else around.

Arui must have already told his brothers and sisters that she was back. They only knew that she went to the hospital as soon as she got off the plane. They couldn't have guessed that she would go back to the old house that night to admit her mistake and accept punishment. Otherwise, they would have rushed back to beg for mercy long ago.

Ning Lang looked at the elders with dark faces, lowered her head, and was about to speak—

To everyone's surprise, Sheng Xuan knelt down straight down!

Grandpa Ning raised an eyebrow in surprise, while his parents below him were startled. They exchanged a troubled glance, their faces filled with anxious helplessness.

Sheng Xuan was a child they had watched grow up, and they all knew very well how arrogant and unruly he was.

A man's knees are worth gold. When young and arrogant, he once got into a fight and broke his ribs and leg bones just to prove himself, but he gritted his teeth and refused to admit defeat.

But now, in order to prevent her elders from punishing her and to take full responsibility for her mistakes, she knelt down before them without hesitation.

Ning Lang was also stunned.

How could he do that?

Looking at his taut, strong back, tall and flat, like a mountain that could bear anything, she felt a lump in her throat and her eyes welled up with tears.

The hall suddenly became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

After a long pause, the old man at the head of the table sighed deeply and slowly said, "It's good that you're back. Take care of your health first. Is it time for dinner? Someone, serve the food."

Mr. Ning secretly breathed a sigh of relief, glared at his daughter, then quickly stepped forward and pulled Sheng Xuan up.

Ning's mother also stepped forward, her eyes filled with tears as she glared at her daughter.

"Knowing that we're back won't be too late! Let's go eat first, and then we'll discuss what to do next."

Ning Lang nodded repeatedly, her eyes red and her lips pursed.

The old house is peaceful and cozy at night.
