Chapter 33 Past Events

The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop; the only sound was their heartbeats, which seemed to have suddenly quickened.

Ning Lang was the first to look away, and in the blink of an eye, she returned to normal.

"Does your hand still hurt?"

Sheng Xuan snapped back to reality, coughed awkwardly, and her voice, still slightly magnetic, came from just waking up.

"...It doesn't hurt anymore."

Ning Lang gave a faint "hmm" and said nonchalantly, "It doesn't hurt now, but it will hurt later."

"Huh? What do you mean?" He stared at her warily, his other hand unconsciously covering his wound. "What are you up to now?"

I was slapped by her earlier, and my head still hurts!

Ning Lang smiled slightly, took out his phone, and spun it around.

You'll find out later.

Sheng Xuan rolled her eyes in annoyance, sat up, ran her fingers through her soft, short hair, and asked, "What time is it?"

The curtains were drawn tightly, and the lights were on in the room; I had no idea what time it was.

Ning Lang replied, "It's almost time for your afternoon nap, you can continue."

Sheng Xuan doesn't have the habit of taking a nap, mainly because recently she has to get up before dawn and even if she tries to go to bed early at night, she still doesn't get enough sleep.

Earlier, I was so bored in my room that I decided to take a nap to catch up on my sleep.

He yawned and asked, "Any news from Ning Rui?"

"Not yet." Ning Lang said calmly in a low voice, "The plan was so meticulous, and so many people were bought to commit crimes at once, so there's no way they'd leave any clues and get caught."

The intention was to prank him, to make him experience the hardship of sweeping the streets, and to temporarily keep him away from high society and prevent him from having direct contact with the second and third branches of the Sheng family.

But they still wouldn't give up; they wanted not only his money but also his life!

Sheng Xuan wasn't too surprised and asked, "What about you? Is the car yours? Will you be alright?"

“They’re the ones who violated traffic laws, not me.” Ning Lang smirked and explained, “Suburban roads aren’t motorcycle tracks. I just ‘accidentally’ bumped into them. I’m not guilty. My car has comprehensive insurance, so the rest is up to the insurance company.”

Since the other party will never admit their true purpose, it can only be handled as a traffic accident.

They were racing on the highway, which was illegal, and she only "accidentally" knocked them down.

She made a mistake, but she didn't break the law; she can just ask the insurance company to pay for it.

From buying and selling cars to minor maintenance matters, everything about her car was handled by Yuanheng's car dealership.

Even if some medical expenses need to be reimbursed, Yuanheng will make sure his underlings handle it properly, with the insurance company covering everything, so he doesn't have to pay a single penny.

She glanced at him and said calmly, "Read more law books instead of being ignorant about the law all the time."

Sheng Xuan pouted awkwardly and muttered in a low voice, "I'm already watching..."

Ning Lang was slightly taken aback, secretly somewhat surprised.

He used to be arrogant and domineering, and he didn't really listen to anyone except Grandpa Sheng.

If he were to encounter a small taunt like the one just now, his fiery temper would flare up immediately, and he would explode.

Having gone through so much in this period of time, he has changed somewhat.

I remember when he first came to Grandpa Sheng's side, he was just a spoiled brat who was too pampered and had no manners!

He was twelve or thirteen years old at the time, willful, mischievous, proud, domineering, and rude, embodying all the shortcomings of spoiled brats, living the life of a giant baby who had everything done for him.

Apart from his handsome and bright face, there is nothing commendable about him from head to toe.

The first time we met, she was fishing in the small pond under the sycamore tree in her backyard.

He rushed over out of curiosity, looking arrogant.

Hey! Girl, can I borrow your fishing rod?
