Chapter 68 Memories of Youth

"Clang!" Sheng Xuan was so frightened that his face turned pale instantly!

He leaped up, opened his long arms, and pulled Ning Lang into his embrace.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

His fingertips trembled slightly, his eyes were panicked as he gently patted her shoulder, instinctively feeling as if something was gripping his heart, pulling it tightly.

Ning Lang swayed, then collapsed weakly back into his broad chest, shaking his head in discomfort.

"I... have low blood sugar, let me lie down."

Sheng Xuan quickly picked her up by the waist, strode around to the single bed, and carefully placed her on the bed.

"Just low blood sugar? Are you sure?"

Ning Lang half-opened his eyes, the corners of his mouth slowly turning up, a smile that seemed both mocking and serious.

"I'm only a half-doctor, so I can't be sure. Surely you could be?"

Looking at her pale face, he was momentarily at a loss for words.

"I'll take you to the hospital to get checked out; you look terrible!"

Ning Lang gently shook his head and replied, "The red bean soup sold downstairs has too much sugar. Go get me a pack from the insulated box."

Sheng Xuan immediately rushed downstairs, shouting in panic, "Red bean soup! Red beans! Quick!"

He rushed back within seconds, squatted down beside the single bed, skillfully tore open a small opening, inserted the straw that was in her mouth, and handed it to her to drink.

Ning Lang glanced at the bitten straw for a second, then finally tilted her head back and took a sip.

Sheng Xuan noticed that she was having some difficulty, so he quickly bent one of his long arms, hooked it around the back of her neck, held her head, and then fed her slowly.

Perhaps due to dizziness, she unconsciously closed her eyes.

The scene seemed familiar, and his gaze lingered for a moment.

...

That year, under the sycamore trees on campus

The school path was deserted on a winter evening, with hardly anyone walking around.

Several teenagers with yellow-orange and green hair gathered under a sycamore tree, discussing which internet cafe or bar they should go to for an all-nighter.

"Brother Xuan, after we showed off like that, those cowards like Scarface Qiang definitely won't dare to extort protection money anymore! Brother Xuan's Flying Dragon in the Sky move was absolutely awesome!"

"Brother Xuan! How come your kung fu is so good?! In just a few moves, those guys were all down! It's amazing!"

"Awesome! Brother Xuan, we're sticking to your coattails from now on!"

"Yes! I'll listen to you from now on!"

Surrounded by admirers, Sheng Xuan chuckled and said in a roguish tone, "If you want to follow me, you'd better hone your skills! I, Sheng Xuan, don't want weaklings!"

"Brother Xuan, how did you train? Didn't you say you only studied for half a year? How come you're so good already!"

Sheng Xuan chewed his gum smugly and snorted, "I'm smart, is that not enough? If I seriously study him to death for a year or two, even a fool can become a genius, let alone someone like me who's a born genius!"

"Haha! Brother Xuan is awesome!"

His underlings clamored for him to treat them, and he waved generously, "Come on! I'll treat you all to a big meal!"

"Yay! Xuan-ge is treating! A huge feast!"

"My brother Xuan is just that handsome!"

Sheng Xuan casually slung his coat over his shoulder and reached into his dirty pocket—it was empty!

"Um... my wallet is still in my backpack. I'll go upstairs to get it. You guys wait for me at the school gate."

"Brother, I'll go get it for you! Your classroom is on the fifth floor!"

Sheng Xuan was about to nod when he suddenly remembered his fierce deskmate and quickly refused.

"Never mind! I'll go by myself."

He then ran up to the fifth floor of the teaching building in one breath.

Winter nights come early, and the campus is already dark everywhere, with only two or three classrooms still lit up, while the rest are pitch black.

When he arrived at the classroom door, he habitually kicked it—and the door opened!

Only his deskmate was still engrossed in doing practice problems in the entire classroom; there was no one else there.
