More than an hour later, the doctor explained Ah Lü's condition.
"It needs to stay here for observation for now and cannot be taken home. If its condition stabilizes and its spirits improve after three days, you can come and pick it up. Keep in touch by phone during these three days."
Ning Lang hesitated for a moment before finally asking, "Doctor, how much longer can it... possibly live?"
The doctor shook his head helplessly and explained, "I've already told you before, it's very old. A parrot of this size is already quite old if it lives for ten years or so. Green is already fifteen years old. If it weren't for you taking such good care of it, it would probably be long gone. Every day counts, that's all I can say."
Ning Lang lowered her eyes and nodded gently.
Sheng Xuan, standing to the side, frowned and asked, "Is there no other way? Is there any way to extend the period?"
The doctor shook his head and smiled wryly: "Birth, aging, sickness, and death—even small animals are no exception."
Ning Lang forced a smile and said softly, "...Thank you, I'm sorry to trouble you."
The doctor nodded politely, then turned and left.
Sheng Xuan grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the pet hospital.
We remained silent the entire way.
Ning Lang glanced up casually and saw him steadily turn the steering wheel, swerving the SUV around.
“I’m not going home. I have some accounts to settle at ‘Yipinxiang’. Where do you want to go? Drive there first, and I’ll drive to ‘Yipinxiang’ myself.”
Sheng Xuan glanced at her during a break, his eyes filled with reproach.
"What account is more important than your health? What did Director Shan tell you earlier? Low blood sugar to the point of dizziness is already very dangerous! I'll take you there now to get your medication."
"No need..." Ning Lang quickly changed her tone, speaking calmly, "I understand. I'll drive over this afternoon after I'm done with my work. There are too many people at the hospital this morning, and it would be a waste of time to wait."
“It’s the weekend, so Director Shan only works half a day off,” Sheng Xuan explained. “Several of my patients were previously cared for by the Shan family, so I know better than you do.”
Ning Lang calmly replied, "It's almost 10:30, it's too late to go now. I'll just find time to go tomorrow."
Sheng Xuan frowned and glanced at her suspiciously.
"I feel like...you're avoiding the issue and refusing to see a doctor? Hey! Did you take the wrong medicine? This isn't like you!"
She studied pharmacology and medicine from a young age, and always had a scale in her heart to weigh what to eat in different weather and what to eat in different physical conditions.
When I was a student at No. 1 Middle School, we were required to eat lunch in the school cafeteria according to school regulations.
Before going to school, she would prepare her snacks and treats, and she would even arrange which fruits were warm and which were cool based on the weather and her own physical condition.
How could someone like her possibly avoid seeing a doctor because of low blood sugar—it's so unlike her!
Ning Lang turned her pretty face away and looked at the street scene flashing past the window.
"You're overthinking it. Didn't I just say we'd go tomorrow?"
Sheng Xuan snorted coldly and said in a deep voice, "I have to go to the auction tomorrow morning. It starts at 9:30 and doesn't end until after 11 or even 12. When did you start getting your own schedule mixed up? Hmm?"
Ning Lang's delicate brows furrowed, suppressing a trace of irritation in her heart, her expression a mixture of sighing and helplessness.
"When Ah-Lu suddenly fell into a coma, my heart... was in complete turmoil."
Sheng Xuan was silent for a moment, then said gently, "Don't worry about that guy, he'll live a long life! Other birds live for ten or so years, but he can live for a hundred. After the auction tomorrow, I'll take you to the hospital to see Shan Jueyi."
Ning Lang smiled and turned her pretty face to look at him.
"Why are you suddenly being so kind? Hmm? Doing a good deed every day?"
