11 PM, downtown advertising company
A snow-white SUV slowly pulled up in front of the company. The security guard was a little surprised and was about to peek out to ask a question when he saw the license plate number and quickly got out.
"President Ning, you're coming to the company so late? Don't you drive to the parking lot downstairs?"
Ning Lang smiled and shook her head: "No need, I'll be leaving in a bit."
She looked up at the building and, unsurprisingly, found the top floor still brightly lit.
The security guard said with a fawning smile, "The directors are still working overtime, and the planning department just left. Everyone's working really hard at the end of the year."
"Everyone has worked hard." Ning Lang said gently, "It's cold, so please take care to keep warm. For those who are on duty during the Spring Festival, the company will arrange holiday allowances plus triple pay."
"Understood! Thank you!" The security guard bowed slightly. "Thank you, Mr. Ning."
Ning Lang locked the car, wrapped her down jacket tighter around herself, and stepped inside.
A moment later, the doors of the private elevator on the top floor opened.
Ning Lang looked at the half-darkened office area and turned to walk towards the president's office.
From afar, she could see that several offices were lit up, and the office at the very end had its door open, its light shining through, making it appear bright and inviting in the semi-dark corridor.
She slowly walked over—and saw a tall, slender man sitting behind a large desk, wearing casual trousers and a plain gray sweater, intently watching the screen, one hand resting on the keyboard, rapidly pressing keys.
Ning Lang's eyes narrowed slightly as he stared intently.
Suddenly, the man raised his head sharply, staring at her in surprise, then pretended to be angry and snorted coldly: "What are you doing? You can scare people to death!"
Ning Lang smiled, his deep eyes as calm as a lake.
"Midnight Ghost Horror ~ Here I come."
Sheng Xuan couldn't help but burst into laughter, revealing her perfectly white teeth.
"I'm not afraid of ghosts! No ghost is as scary as you!"
Ning Lang's lips curled into a half-smile: "When I become a ghost one day and come looking for you in the middle of the night, what will you say then?"
Sheng Xuan rolled her eyes and said with displeasure, "What are you saying! You're so tactless! Saying things like that in the middle of the night is really creepy!"
"Just out of curiosity." Ning Lang smiled slightly, leaning against the door frame, "Will you suddenly fly into a rage, point at me as a ghost, and yell that even the scariest ghost isn't as scary as me?"
Sheng Xuan grabbed a piece of scrap paper from the table, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it straight at her.
"The New Year is almost here. If your elders find out you're spouting nonsense, they might beat you up! Go, go, go! Go to the break room and rinse your mouth right now!"
Ning Lang chuckled, her slender, beautiful legs, clad in leather mid-calf boots, resting on the door.
"Ghosts shouldn't have legs as long as mine. If you're working overtime here in the future and a legless creature comes along, don't be afraid, just kneel down and pray."
Sheng Xuan found it both funny and annoying, and started typing away on the keyboard.
"I don't care if you have legs or not, I don't care if you're a ghost or not, as long as it's your face, I'll beat you up without hesitation! Anyone who dares to come out and scare people in the middle of the night will be beaten without mercy!"
Ning Lang glanced at him and said quietly, "I heard that you ordered several departments in the company to work overtime, take turns resting, with no weekends, no holidays, and possibly even during the Chinese New Year. I remember that the employees of the advertising company are all employed on a contract basis, not as slaves."
In the afternoon, she received a call from an employee in the human resources department, who said they needed to enter some personal information. The employee then took the opportunity to complain to her.
She knew he worked hard, so as soon as she finished her accounting work, she rushed over to help him out.
