Chapter 154 The Visitor

Reception room, side hall

On the red sandalwood coffee table sat fresh fruits and a cup of tea, the aroma of which filled the air, with wisps of white smoke rising from the steam.

Jiang Lirong, dressed in an elegant handmade suit, stood with his hands behind his back, admiring the landscape paintings and calligraphy on the wall, a satisfied smile on his lips.

Just then, soft footsteps approached.

Jiang Lirong immediately turned around and saw Ning Lang dressed in loose, casual clothes. Her snow-white sweater made her skin look even whiter than snow, and she was so beautiful and charming that he couldn't help but stare at her for a moment.

Ning Lang approached with a smile, "What brings you here, senior? Why didn't you tell me beforehand?"

Jiang Lirong snapped out of his reverie and smiled gently, "I had something urgent that I wanted to ask you for confirmation. I wanted to hear the answer with my own ears, so I came as soon as possible. It was presumptuous of me to bother your esteemed residence on New Year's Eve."

Ning Lang raised an eyebrow and said, "It's alright. What do you want to ask, senior? What's the matter that's so urgent?"

He looked at her excitedly and asked, "Ah Lang, are you going back to N country? I heard from Liu Yingying that you entrusted several medicinal cuisine restaurants to a foundation to manage, and booked a flight to N country, planning to stay there for a long time."

A flash of displeasure crossed Ning Lang's eyes, but it quickly disappeared.

"Senior, have some tea first."

This information is currently known only to her and her lawyer, Liu Yingying.

This was within her job scope, yet she leaked it. Sigh! "Love" truly is the word that most easily makes people lose their minds, even strong women are no exception.

Back when they were at the N country hometown association, Liu Yingying had been secretly taking care of Jiang Lirong, but unfortunately, her love was unrequited.

"Thank you." Jiang Lirong took a sip of tea, not bothering to savor its aroma, and suppressed the urgency in his voice as he asked again, "Are you sure you want to go back?"

“…No.” Ning Lang said softly, “Senior, Rongcheng is my hometown. I just want to go to Country N.”

Seeing her lower her eyes, Jiang Lirong couldn't help but lean closer.

"Ah Lang, back then I thought you would stay in N country because your grades were so outstanding. Several large pharmaceutical companies were interested in recruiting you, and it would have been a bright future no matter which one you chose. But you were determined to return to China. When I tried to persuade you to stay, I said I hoped you would come back as soon as possible, and that I would be waiting for you there..."

“Senior, you’ve misunderstood.” Ning Lang looked up at him and smiled slightly. “I’m just going to stay in N country for a while, nothing else.”

Jiang Lirong's expression changed slightly, and he froze.

It turns out he misunderstood.

She wasn't going back to work there, nor was it because of his initial promise.

Jiang Lirong's smile faded, and he said in a low voice, "Ah Lang, if we both go back to N country, can't you give me a chance?"

Back then, she resolutely returned to China, giving him no chance to pursue her. He had no choice but to follow her back to China and hurriedly chased after her to Rongcheng.

Although he didn't know the real reason she was going to country N, he had only one strong thought in his mind—wherever she went, he would go too.

Ning Lang sighed softly and said in a low voice, "Senior, I still stand by what I said—we're not a good match. We're alumni, from the same hometown, and friends."

It's been so long, and she's avoided him so many times, yet he still won't give up.

Jiang Lirong smiled bitterly and murmured, "How do you know we're not right for each other if you don't give me a chance to try? Ah Lang, I only want to be your boyfriend and future husband."

Ning Lang smiled wistfully.

Jiang Lirong's eyes flickered slightly, and he gently took her hand.

"Ah Lang, I really like N country and always want to find a chance to go back. I don't have anything to do during the New Year, so why don't I go with you? Revisiting a familiar place might be a unique experience."
