Chapter 263 The Fifth Dream

Chen Xu took Cao Ningning to a restaurant near her community and ordered two bowls of noodle soup, one for each person.

"Your parents, have they been gone for a long time?" Chen Xu didn't like to pry into other people's private affairs, but he was a little worried about this girl who impressed him so much.

Cao Ningning picked up a piece of rice noodle with chopsticks and blew into it, then replied, "Almost a month."

"Didn't they leave you any money for food?"

Cao Ningning glanced at him quickly, lowered her head, and said, "It's all gone."

"oh."

"They have been quarreling all the time since I was a child. Whenever they quarrel, my dad runs away from home, and the next day, my mom goes to look for him."

"When my grandmother was still alive, my mother would send me to her. When I was ten years old, my grandmother passed away. After that, they left and left me alone at home, leaving me living expenses."

"At that time, there was no mobile payment. After I spent all my money, I would call them and they would come back and give me the money."

“So, I always spend my money very quickly.”

"Later, with the advent of mobile payment, this trick no longer worked. When I entered junior high school, they basically ignored me. Sometimes, when I called them, they wouldn't answer, always saying, 'You've grown up, you have to take care of yourself.'"

"They are always leaving for a month or two, never staying in a job for long, changing jobs over and over again. I guess they can't find a good job, and the living expenses they get are getting less and less."

Chen Xu listened to her talking about her parents and herself. Her tone was always calm, without any complaints or blame. She revealed a kind of optimism, and he felt touched.

He asked, "Why do they quarrel so often?"

"My mom always suspected that my dad had another woman outside. She also kept nagging me, repeating the same thing over and over again. My dad has a quick temper and would run away from home when he got angry."

Cao Ningning said as she ate, "After returning home, they would reconcile, be nice for a while, and then start quarreling again."

Chen Xu secretly shook his head when he heard this. This is really a weird couple. The man is weird, and the woman is also weird. It’s ok that they quarreled until they ran away from home, but they even ignored their daughter. It’s really weird.

"You can't contact them now?"

Cao Ningning shook her head. "He didn't answer my calls or reply to my WeChat messages. I guess he has run out of phone credit."

Chen Xu couldn't help but said, "After dinner, I'll go with you to call the police. What if something happens to them?"

Cao Ningning hesitated for a moment, nodded, and said, "Okay."

Chen Xu didn't say anything more. After eating a bowl of rice noodles, he took her to the nearest police station to report the crime.

…………

"Thank you for today."

After finishing the work, it was almost nine o'clock. Chen Xu finally sent Cao Ningning back. Before getting off the car, she thanked him.

"You're welcome."

After Chen Xu finished speaking, he watched her get off the car and walk into the community before turning around and leaving.

When he got home, his mother and Chen Ziqi were waiting for him. "Why are you so late?"

He said, "I met a friend on the way and went for a drink."

"I've saved some food for you."

"No, I've already eaten." Chen Xu had a meal with Old Tang, and then had a bowl of noodle soup with Cao Ningning. He really couldn't eat any more, so he asked, "How is Dad doing?"

"You want to know, you won't call him."

Chen Xu could hear some anger in his mother's tone, which was understandable. His parents had hardly been apart since they got married. Now they had been separated for many days, so they must not be used to it.

To some extent, his parents are a bit like Cao Ningning's parents, but he is luckier than Cao Ningning. At least, his parents were not with him when he was a child because they wanted to earn money to support the family, rather than running away from home because of a quarrel.

"Are you tired of me? Do you want to drive me away?"

"I'm just worried that Dad won't be used to being alone at home."

"Your dad is old enough and can take care of himself. There's nothing to worry about. I'll come back when you get better."

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

Chen Xu said as he went to the room to get his clothes and went into the bathroom.

After taking a shower, he returned to the room, wiped his wet hair with a dry towel, and sat down at the computer desk.

His room was completely changed. The empty space was now filled with several server hosts. He had to move some things outside, otherwise there would not be enough space for the host. The main reason was that the room was too small.

Just now, as soon as he entered the room, he felt that the temperature was obviously much higher. He told his mother that when he was not at home during the day, the air conditioner should be turned on to dissipate heat, but she obviously didn't listen and was still reluctant to spend the electricity bill.

Before he took a shower, he turned on the air conditioner and felt noticeably better.

He saved all the codes in these server hosts. This was very important to him, so he would rather spend more money to buy them and keep them at home.

When his hair was almost dry, he put the towel on the back of the chair, stretched his fingers, and put them in front of the keyboard, ready to work.

He might be the most relaxed programmer in the world, he just needs to copy the ready-made code. Moreover, the author of these software can only be him, and he will surely receive countless praises.

He thought of Liu Shanshan's shocked look in the afternoon and couldn't help feeling guilty. He thought he needed to spend more time learning programming well, so that he wouldn't be unable to answer questions about related knowledge one day, thus arousing suspicion from others.

Soon, he put these thoughts aside and concentrated on copying the code.

What he is copying now is the translation module.

Translation software is one of the more important software in the literature, and a special section is devoted to it. The code of this software is very long, and it can be said to be one of the software with the most code.

Of course, he would not copy down all of them. Now he only needed to translate between Chinese and English, and it was enough to translate them into daily language. A more professional version could be released later.

Therefore, he only needs to copy a small part of the code in the early stage.

The most troublesome part about English lies in some professional vocabulary. Some words are so long that it makes you doubt your life.

To be honest, he didn't want to launch a too professional translation. There is no impenetrable wall in this world. For example, some cutting-edge special issues, even if they are in the same field, may not be understood by people who don't study that field. But if a translation software can translate it, it will be too eye-catching.

You are a small company and you haven't hired any relevant experts to help you, but you keep launching such features. It would be strange if they don't attract attention.

If similar things are done too often, it will always arouse suspicion from some people with ulterior motives. It is hard to say what consequences will be caused at that time.

Unconsciously, his thoughts began to diverge again. Since he was just copying, he didn't have to use his brain much, and he couldn't understand it, so he was always easily distracted when doing this. Once he was distracted, he was prone to making mistakes. He had to spend more time and compare it again after copying to correct the mistakes.

It took two hours to copy it.

He yawned. He had to admit that this was a bit brain-intensive and made him sleepy. He stopped at the right time and took a cup to the living room to pour a glass of water. His mother and Chen Ziqi had already gone to bed, and the lights in the living room were off.

After pouring the water, he looked at the time and it was already twelve o'clock.

He had an idea and drank the boiled water in one gulp. Then he lay down on the bed, opened the interface of the dream device, and clicked to enter the star game "Exploration Team".

"You are about to enter the two-star game "Exploration Team". Attention, your external device has not been detected. Do you want to enter?"

This time, there was no reminder about his health problems. He was happy at first, but then he hesitated when he saw this reminder. What the hell was this external device?

PS: Since the release of the book, I have not saved any drafts. I just publish them as soon as I finish coding. So, don’t panic, it has been two months. I haven’t stopped once. It is very stable.
