Her Sun

Her Sun

The next morning, after Xu Chuwan finished washing up, she sat at the dining table waiting for Zhang Jiye to finish making breakfast when her phone suddenly vibrated. The caller ID showed Jiang Yan.

Xu Chuwan hesitated for a moment, then pressed the speakerphone button to answer the call.

"Hey, Wanwan." Jiang Yan's voice was a little hurried.

"What do you want to call about?" Xu Chuwan asked, her voice sounding somewhat impatient.

“It’s not my fault, it’s…” Jiang Yan’s voice trailed off.

"Please speak."

"Let me tell you this: your...your grandmother has been hospitalized and diagnosed with late-stage cancer."

With a "boom," Xu Chuwan's mind exploded.

The phrases "Your grandmother has been admitted to the hospital" and "She has been diagnosed with late-stage cancer" kept echoing in her mind.

How did Grandma end up in the hospital...?

God, please bless my grandmother so she'll be alright, please, please be alright...

After a few seconds of silence, Xu Chuwan asked Jiang Yan, "Then...which hospital?"

"It's at the People's Hospital. If you have time now, come over," Jiang Yan said.

Xu Chuwan hummed in agreement and said, "I understand, I'll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, Xu Chuwan's tears fell onto the phone screen.

Xu Chuwan quickly wiped away her tears.

She didn't want Zhang Jiye to worry anymore.

But Zhang Jiye still saw her wiping away her tears.

Zhang Jiye brought breakfast to the table and quickly asked her, "What's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Xu Chuwan lowered her head and remained silent.

Zhang Jiye was getting anxious when she didn't speak, but he didn't know what was wrong with her.

Zhang Jiye had no choice but to pull his girl into his arms. At that moment, Xu Chuwan completely broke down and cried in Zhang Jiye's arms.

Zhang Jiye patted her on the back and comforted her, "It's alright, it's alright."

After crying, Xu Chuwan choked out, "Zhang Jiye, I... my grandmother has had an accident. She's been diagnosed with late-stage cancer..."

Zhang Jiye wiped away her tears with his hand.

Xu Chuwan still had some tears in the corners of her eyes. She looked up at Zhang Jiye and said, "I... my mom just called and said my grandma is in the hospital. What... what should I do?"

After Xu Chuwan finished speaking, tears streamed down her face again, and Zhang Jiyan gently wiped them away once more.

Zhang Jiyue gently told her, "Don't be afraid, Wanwan, I'll go with you to see Grandma, okay?"

Xu Chuwan nodded and said, "Zhang Jiye, can you...can you stay with me like this forever?"

Zhang Jiye smiled and said, "I will always be by Wanwan's side."

Zhang Jiye patted her head and said, "How about we finish breakfast first and then go see Grandma?"

Xu Chuwan hummed in agreement.

With him around, she felt safe at all times.

After breakfast, Zhang Jiye took Xu Chuwan to the People's Hospital to visit her grandmother.

When they arrived, Jiang Yan, Xu Chuwan's uncle and aunt, and Jiang Xia were also there.

Jiang Yan noticed Zhang Jiye next to Xu Chuwan and asked, "Chuwan, who is this...?"

Just as Xu Chuwan was about to speak, Zhang Jiye spoke first: "Hello, Auntie, I'm her boyfriend. I'm here to accompany her to visit her grandmother."

Jiang Yan was shocked.

Zhang Jiye continued, "You can rest assured about me. I will treat her even better than you treat her."

Xu Chuwan was stunned when she heard Zhang Jiye say that.

Jiang Yan smiled and asked, "What's your name?"

Zhang Jiye replied to her: "Zhang Jiye, Ji means 'lonely' and Ye means 'wild'."

Jiang Yan glanced at Zhang Jiye again.

He's quite handsome, with delicate features, and seems to have good character.

After a while, Lin Ning, who was lying in the hospital bed, also woke up.

Xu Chuwan quickly walked to Lin Ning's side and asked, "Grandma, how are you feeling now?"

Lin Ning smiled, not wanting her granddaughter to worry, and said, "I feel much better."

Xu Chuwan felt a lump in her throat and held back her tears, saying, "Grandma, you're lying."

Jiang Yan stepped forward and asked Lin Ning, "Mom, are you feeling better?"

Lin Ning smiled and nodded with difficulty.

Seeing Lin Ning's strained smile, Xu Chuwan couldn't help but feel a little sore, and her eyes welled up with tears.

Lin Ning saw Zhang Jiye standing next to Xu Chuwan, glanced at him, and thought the young man was good-looking. He must be her granddaughter's boyfriend. She said, "You're Chuwan's boyfriend, right?"

Zhang Jiye nodded and said, "Hello, Grandma."

Lin Ning smiled and said, "He's quite good-looking."

Zhang Jiye smiled politely.

While Lin Ning was asleep, Xu Chuwan and Jiang Yan came out. Xu Chuwan asked Jiang Yan, "What did the doctor say?"

Jiang Yan fell silent.

Xu Chuwan grew anxious and said, "Tell me quickly! What's wrong with Grandma?"

Xu Chuwan's voice sounded somewhat excited.

"Wanwan, don't get agitated, calm down first."

"How can I calm down! What...what exactly did the doctor say..."

"The doctor said... your grandmother's surgery has a 10% success rate."

Xu Chuwan said tremblingly, "I understand."

On the way back, Xu Chuwan sat in the car without saying a word.

Zhang Jiye understood her feelings at that moment and didn't speak to her.

When the car arrived at Xu Chuwan's building, Xu Chuwan spoke: "Zhang Jiye."

Zhang Jiye replied to her, "Yes, I'm here."

Xu Chuwan hesitated for a moment, then said to him, "You...can you...tonight..."

Zhang Jiye knew what she was going to say and said, "I'm not leaving tonight."

Xu Chuwan hummed in agreement, then went upstairs with Zhang Jiye.

When she arrived at her doorstep, Grandma Wang from next door came out and saw a man standing next to Xu Chuwan. She couldn't help but laugh and tease, "Little Xu, your boyfriend?"

Before Xu Chuwan could speak, Zhang Jiye interjected, "Yes, Grandma."

Grandma Wang said, "The young man is quite handsome."

Zhang Jiye replied casually, "Thank you for the compliment, Grandma."

Grandma Wang continued teasingly, "Don't forget to invite me to your wedding!"

Upon hearing this, Xu Chuwan's face immediately turned red.

Zhang Jiye said earnestly to Grandma Wang, "Yes, we will invite you to our wedding."

After saying this, Zhang Jiye took Xu Chuwan's hand.

After chatting with Grandma Wang for a few minutes, Zhang Jiye took Xu Chuwan's hand and went inside.

Xu Chu asked him, "You... were you serious about what you just said?"

Zhang Jiye lowered his head, looked down into the girl's eyes, and said, word by word, "I'm serious. My plan for the future is to marry you."

He had thought about many plans for the future, and he included marrying her in them.

He wants to stay with her forever.

He will always love only her.

He really wanted to marry his girl; he had been thinking about it since high school.

Xu Chuwan tiptoed closer to Zhang Jiye, her lips slowly approaching his, and he slowly brought his lips closer to hers as well.

Their lips met.

The kiss lasted for several minutes before Zhang Jiye released her.

Zhang Jiyue whispered in her ear, word by word: "I love you, Wanwan."

Xu Chuwan looked into his eyes and replied, "I love you too."

You pulled me out of the dark corner and showed me that there is sunshine on me too.

I will not fall any further, because I have my own sun shining on me.

Some say that for some people, fate will favor them and make their unrequited love come true.

At first, Xu Chuwan naturally didn't believe it when she heard it, because most people's unrequited love will leave regrets and it is impossible for them to see the light of day.

But now she believes it.

Because God favored her, her childhood crush came true.

Unrequited love always has its bittersweet moments, but in the end, it doesn't necessarily have to be bittersweet.

She is one of the lucky ones.

If I could, I would also like Zhang Jiye.

Because—Zhang Jiye is the most worthy of admiration.

He himself is a ray of light, and also the sun.

Only her sun.
