Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Inside the room, Shen Ji's expression was not as calm as one might expect. He frowned, and a deep emotion flashed in his narrow, wind-swept eyes.

She is his.

She said that she was his whenever he wanted.

Does that mean she would allow him to do whatever he wanted?

Shen Ji's eyes were completely tinged with an unnatural red. He slowly reached out and took off his robe, revealing smooth lines and undulating muscles.

Strangely, he thought he was just curious about Jiang Mian at most, wanting to see what she would do, but now, things were going in an out-of-control direction, and he finally realized it.

He had a very strong feeling for Jiang Mian.

This feeling started from that accidental touch of lips on her cheek, then to several dreams about her, and now, just imagining her face makes me feel increasingly unable to control myself.

Her breathing quickened, and finally, the hair on her forehead was almost completely soaked, and her eyes were no longer as cold and indifferent as usual.

He pursed his lips, knowing it wasn't right, but he couldn't help but fantasize about her over and over again.

**

Jiang Mian had no idea why Shen Ji had suddenly left; he hadn't even answered her question yet.

Whether or not he wants to be with her.

She pursed her lips; giving up halfway was not her style. She needed to hear him say it himself, to know what he was thinking.

Jiang Mian was silent for a moment, then suddenly got up from the ground. She walked to the door of Chen Ji's house, intending to push it open directly, but after thinking about it, she reached out and knocked a few times.

"Cousin, could you open the door?"

Even if he wanted to reject her, he should have said it to her face. Why did he hide? Jiang Mian was a little curious. Why did her cousin suddenly leave without saying a word?

"Cousin, if you don't say anything, I'll take that as a yes, that you like me too."

She smiled slightly, feeling a surge of courage.

She had initially worried that he would be angry because of her sudden words, but now, judging from his reaction, he seemed more like he was shy and hiding after being confessed to. In that case, it was quite possible that her cousin also liked her.

She continued knocking on the door, but there was still no response. Just as she hesitated whether to push the door open, Shen Ji opened it.

"Cousin... my knee hurts so much! You suddenly left just now, and I tripped and fell to the ground..."

Upon seeing people, she immediately changed into a sleepy look, her almond-shaped eyes filled with tears that moistened her eyelashes.

"Come in and talk," Shen Ji said calmly, glancing lightly at her knees.

Jiang Mian was overjoyed and quickly went inside, closing the door behind her.

However, when she saw that all the windows were open, she was momentarily puzzled. Wasn't her cousin the one who was most afraid of the cold? Why had he opened all the windows?

However, she didn't care and sat down on the soft couch, saying to him in a sleepy voice, "Cousin, my knees seem to be chafed."

Is it serious?

He stopped and looked at her intently.

"It hurts a bit," Jiang Mian said truthfully. Then, as if thinking of something, she tentatively asked, "I still have some wound medicine left from last time. Could you please help me apply it, cousin?"

Jiang Mian silently curled her lips; this was her true purpose.

As expected, Shen Ji slowly turned around. He frowned. Jiang Mian thought he was going to refuse and then give her a long lecture on the proper etiquette between men and women. But then she saw that his fingertips had somehow picked up the porcelain bottle and he said, "Take your pants off."

"What?"

Jiang Mian was somewhat shocked, seemingly unable to believe that her usually aloof and refined cousin would say such a thing.

"Aren't we supposed to apply medicine?" He looked up, his tone matter-of-fact.

Oh, right, it's time to apply medicine.

But why did it feel so awkward, especially when it came from his mouth? In that instant, it felt as if someone had gently brushed her heart, and even her toes curled up involuntarily.

When did Shen Ji become so unreserved? In the past, she had never taken the initiative with him.

However, she wasn't afraid. Her goal was him, and using the pretext of applying medicine was a good way to get closer to him. Just thinking about seeing Shen Ji fall in love with her and become obsessed with her made her feel inexplicably excited.

She lowered her head, and even though she was hoping for something, she still put on a shy expression: "Cousin, could you turn your back?"

“Okay.” Shen Ji turned around.

Jiang Mian breathed a sigh of relief. Although she had made up her mind, she was not yet ready to take off her pants in front of him.

Seeing that he was standing with his back to her, she slowly placed her fingertips on the belt at her waist, and gently tugged it. The fabric rustled as she took off her outer garment before lifting her trousers underneath.

Shen Ji clenched his fists tightly. Because he couldn't see, his hearing was even more acute. Every movement and every sound she made stirred his thoughts. He could almost imagine how she would do these things.

Finally, a sweet voice came from behind: "Alright, cousin, you can turn around now."

Shen Ji then turned around.

What he saw was somewhat different from what he had imagined, but not much different either. Jiang Mian had taken off her outer garment and lifted up the inner lining, revealing a few inches above her knees and her entire calf.

Her skin was fair and radiant, just like the one he had seen in his dream.

He stepped forward and squatted down slightly. Jiang Mian sat on the soft couch, looking at him somewhat awkwardly as he reached out and grasped her calf. In that instant, the icy touch made her almost back away.

The scene was so impactful, it was as if Shen Ji was holding not her leg, but some other part of her body.

She had intended to take advantage of this opportunity to tease him, but as her cool fingertips slowly moved upwards, she suddenly had a strange feeling that he was half-squatting in front of her, looking so serious. However, she was thinking the wrong thing. Looking at his handsome yet aloof face, she suddenly felt uneasy.

"What's wrong? Does it hurt a lot?"

Shen Ji asked softly, looking up at her with a hint of doubt in his eyes.

Jiang Mian shook her head. How could she explain it to him? Although the pain was still there, it wasn't the main sensation. She hadn't expected that she would feel strange when his rough fingertips gently touched her skin.

Shen Ji hummed in agreement, then carefully applied the medicine to her wound. He looked serious, as if this was the only thing on his mind. After applying the medicine, he even gently blew on the area around the wound with his lips.

A damp, chilly breeze swept by, and she gripped the quilt beneath her tightly with her fingertips, barely managing to suppress a moan from her lips.

Jiang Mian suspected that he did it on purpose, otherwise why would he blow on the wound on her knee with his lips, and even get closer, he was about to kiss her knee.

Her spine went numb, and she struggled to keep her legs from slipping out of his grasp.

After a moment, Shen Ji stood up and said calmly, "It's best to keep the wound dry for the next day or two."

"What if you take a bath?"

Jiang Mian blurted it out.

Shen Ji paused for a moment, then remained silent.

Jiang Mian really wanted to say that he should take full responsibility for her wounds, since it was because of him that she ended up like this. However, firstly, she didn't have the courage, and secondly, the words were too intimate. If Shen Ji were to bathe her, she was afraid that she would suffer the most.

She fell silent, then smiled and said, "Just kidding, cousin, don't take it to heart."

Shen Ji nodded.

Unaware of the dark emotions slowly spreading in the man's eyes, she tried to continue the previous topic: "Cousin, I can't leave now..."

The implication was that she wanted to stay with him.

Shen Ji put the wound medicine back in its place. Upon hearing this, his expression turned serious. An unnatural darkness shrouded his eyes, but when he spoke, his tone was steady and earnest: "Jiang Mian, why do you like me?"

What do you like about me?

He really wanted to know.

Speaking of this, Jiang Mian suddenly became interested. She put down her clothes and sat up straight: "Naturally, it's because you, cousin, are upright and honest, and most importantly, you've been very good to me."

Jiang Mian smiled and looked at him sitting upright to the side. She sighed inwardly. There was also something else: his appearance was truly rare and handsome.

The dark cloud between Shen Ji's brows dissipated slightly, and his curled fingertips tapped lightly on the jade table. Finally, he suddenly asked, "If I were with you, what would you do?"

This question stumped Jiang Mian. What was she going to do?

What can she do?

This question... needs careful consideration. If she answers well and her cousin is happy, he might agree to be with her.

Before she could speak, the young man looked away, his voice soft: "If it was just a passing fancy, then let it go. I'll pretend I didn't hear you, and from now on..."

“It’s not a spur-of-the-moment thing!” Jiang Mian was a little anxious, as if afraid that he would disagree. She quickly got off the ground, enduring the pain in her knees, and came to him: “Cousin, touch my heart, is it beating very fast?”

She took Shen Ji's hand, which landed precisely on his heart.

Even through her clothes, I could still feel the girl's pounding heartbeat spreading through my fingertips.

His eyes darkened, and an abnormal desire spread across them.

Jiang Mian's heart beat even faster.

"Cousin, I'm always happy to see you, genuinely happy." This sounded somewhat insincere, but she didn't have time to think too much about it at the moment. As long as she could get him to agree to be with her, that was enough.

"If none of this is enough, then I..." She racked her brains, only to regret that she had prepared so many things to say, but suddenly couldn't say anything at this moment.

His fingertips were still pressed against her heart.

The soft, warm touch was somewhat peculiar, yet he couldn't bear to take it away.

Jiang Mian secretly blamed herself for being tongue-tied and was racking her brains for sweet words when the young man suddenly said, "That's enough."

She paused, "Enough?"

What's enough?

“I said, I believe you.”

Sunlight streamed down from the window, illuminating the patterned window decorations and also falling upon the young man's aloof, cloud-like features.

The chilling ice gradually melted, and he curled his lips into a smile.

Jiang Mian had no idea what kind of situation she was about to fall into; right now, she felt as if she were dreaming.

Shen Ji gave in to her so easily.
