eve
Jiang Mian hired an embroiderer to come to the mansion and teach her. She studied diligently and finished embroidering the handkerchief in just one afternoon. The embroiderer praised her highly, saying that she was the most dedicated person she had ever taught. Jiang Mian lowered her head in embarrassment.
She learned this because her wedding to Song Mingyan was approaching, and she didn't think she had given him anything yet.
Although he treated her very well and said he didn't care about such formalities as long as she was his wife, Jiang Mian still felt a little guilty.
She wanted to take advantage of these two weeks to give her something she had made herself. After thinking it over, she decided that the only thing she could do was to embroider a pair of knee pads, which could also make up for some of the guilt in her heart.
Since Shen Ji wasn't around, she embroidered as much as she could; otherwise, it wouldn't be so convenient for her to do things once he returned.
As the day drew closer, Jiang Mian lived each day in fear, afraid that Shen Ji would suddenly appear before her. But he never returned. Jiang Mian couldn't help but ask He Yue, but the other shook her head.
Jiang Mian looked disappointed. She was both glad that he hadn't returned and afraid that he would suddenly appear. She couldn't imagine what would happen if he appeared on their wedding day. The plan couldn't afford to make any mistakes, and this might be the only chance. It would be even more difficult to leave Shen Ji openly in the future.
She embroidered all day long, and when the shape was finally taking shape, she put down her needle and thread and rubbed her sore eyes.
As soon as she stood up, she felt a cool breeze suddenly blow in through the window. She subconsciously looked up and saw Shen Ji, who had disappeared for several days, appear before her.
The young man had a handsome face and a green crown, with a cool and aloof expression, but his posture was not so dignified. He leaned lazily to one side, and the rolled-up corner of his clothes had not yet fallen down. He had climbed in through the window again.
Jiang Mian froze on the spot for a moment, subconsciously blocking what was behind her. She unconsciously clenched her white knuckles and looked at him with a guilty conscience.
"Haven't seen you for days, and you've even forgotten how to greet people?" Shen Ji smiled faintly, as if he hadn't noticed anything amiss with her.
Jiang Mian suppressed her nervous heartbeat and silently swallowed: "Cousin, when did you get back?"
Finally, they asked some decent questions.
She had placed all the candles in the room on the table, and extinguished them all after finishing her embroidery, plunging the room into complete darkness. Jiang Mian was relieved; Shen Ji probably wouldn't notice.
"come over."
His tone was as assertive as ever.
Jiang Mian didn't want to go over, but thinking about what might happen if she refused, she hesitated for a moment before reluctantly walking over.
"Mianniang, do you miss me?" Shen Ji held her in his arms, only then did he feel somewhat at ease.
He lowered his head, his nose brushing against her ear, his soft, ticklish breath falling on her tender, sensitive skin, making her feel somewhat uncomfortable.
Jiang Mian nodded without saying anything.
"Little liar." Shen Ji snorted in dissatisfaction, tightening his grip on her. "I want you to think of me here." He pointed to her chest, his tone somewhat stubborn.
Jiang Mian didn't want to get entangled with him any further, and besides, she was a little unsure of herself. She wondered when he had appeared, and whether he had seen the knee pads she had embroidered.
His fingers, which were holding her, slowly moved upwards, and before he knew it, he had quietly pinched her chin. His eyes were dark and deep, as if he wanted to devour her completely.
"While I was away, He Yue told me you went out frequently?"
"It's too stuffy staying in the manor, so I'm going out for a walk to clear my head," Jiang Mian replied flawlessly. She hadn't seen Song Mingyan for the past few days and had indeed been to some ordinary places.
Why don't you ask me what I went out to do?
Shen Ji tightened his grip on her chin slightly, and the girl frowned noticeably. She sensed some dissatisfaction in his tone, but he disliked others prying into his whereabouts, so wasn't it just what he wanted if she didn't ask?
"What did my cousin do when he went out?" she asked symbolically, though she was genuinely curious. Her real purpose was to ask him if he would leave in a few days.
What do you want to hear?
"Didn't my cousin tell me to ask?" Jiang Mian was a little confused. Although she couldn't resist him, it didn't mean she had no temper at all.
"Would you do anything I ask you to do?"
Shen Ji stared into her captivating eyes, feeling a deep sense of desolation in his heart.
"As long as my cousin is happy, I'll do anything." Jiang Mian replied without hesitation, praying in her heart that Shen Ji would leave soon. She had already made her decision, and any further entanglement with him would only cause her more trouble.
Shen Ji gave a soft hum and asked without warning, "Does Mian Niang want to get married?"
Marrying?
Jiang Mian's mind went blank for a moment. Could it be that he knew everything? A bad premonition rose in her heart, and even her body stiffened.
Such an obvious reaction, when seen by Shen Ji, was the helplessness and panic of having one's thoughts suddenly exposed.
He curled his lips coldly, not exposing her pretense, and slowly stroked her forehead, speaking gently: "Mianniang has grown up, and she will eventually have to get married."
"Why don't you tell your cousin what kind of man he likes?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Mian breathed a sigh of relief. Shen Ji had an eccentric personality, and she couldn't figure out what he was thinking. It must just be a coincidence.
He could never have known her plans.
“Cousin, you’re joking. Mian Niang only wants to stay by your side. I’m just afraid that one day you’ll get tired of me. Then it won’t matter who I marry.” Jiang Mian said these words almost without thinking.
It doesn't matter who she marries, except for Shen Ji.
The difference is that Song Mingyan is powerful and influential, so if she marries him, Shen Ji will not pester her.
“How could my cousin bear to marry Mianniang off to someone else? Mianniang is so beautiful, she should be kept hidden away, seeing only me every day, speaking only to me, living with me, dying with me, and never being separated.”
Shen Ji looked at her tenderly, yet uttered the most obsessive words.
Jiang Mian was extremely grateful that she had chosen to stay away from him; otherwise, given his personality, she would have lost herself forever.
"However, if you really have someone you want to marry, you must tell your cousin. Then your cousin will give you a big gift."
Even though his voice was gentle, for some reason, Jiang Mian broke out in a cold sweat, as if he had seen through her thoughts and all her plans.
She wanted to laugh, but she couldn't.
They could only lower their heads, silently expressing their resistance.
“During the days I was away, I often thought about something. The mother-child Gu in your body will not make you unable to leave me. Recently, I obtained a new medicine. I heard that as long as you take it, you will think of me every moment and wish you could be with me every moment. Would you like to try it, Mian Niang?”
Shen Ji had her sit on his lap and whispered in her ear.
Jiang Mian immediately shook her head, looking at him with teary eyes: "Cousin, I know I was wrong."
"Where did I go wrong?" Shen Ji asked in a low, husky voice, his gaze fixed on her soft lips.
“I shouldn’t have gone out on my own, I shouldn’t have run out without your permission, but I was so bored, cousin, I needed some fresh air too.”
Jiang Mian complained, but in reality, she didn't think she was wrong at all. She only prayed that Shen Ji would not discover her plan. As for the rest, she would just go along with what he wanted to say, and that wouldn't go wrong.
"Then what should you do?"
His eyes were filled with an astonishingly intense emotion, and his palm, resting on her waist, was burning hot.
Jiang Mian hesitated for a moment, then reached out and hooked her arm around his neck, trembling as she kissed his lips. Her kiss was not very skillful; she could only gently rub his lips against his. But she knew that usually, this would stop him from pursuing the matter further.
As expected, the young man held her lips tightly in his mouth, pressing his tongue into her mouth, and an intimate atmosphere filled the air.
The hand that had been wrapped around his neck slowly moved to his front, and he easily grasped it with one hand, then suddenly laid her down on the bed.
Then, he brushed his hand across her snow-white neck, leaving several marks on her soft, smooth skin. Next, he used his teeth to unfasten the belt, and slowly released the hand that was holding her wrist, easily wrapping it around the back of her neck.
"Cousin!" Jiang Mian exclaimed, her face burning red as she looked at the person buried in front of her.
"Mianniang, think carefully, is there anything you're hiding from me?" Shen Ji paused slightly, raised his eyes, and fixed his gaze on her face.
He can forgive her if she says so now.
However, Jiang Mian shook her head without hesitation: "No, Mianniang has nothing to hide from her cousin."
There was a hint of anger in his eyes; even after all this, she still refused to speak.
Since that's the case, don't blame him for being impolite.
She wanted to hide and escape, but the small space she lingered in was completely filled with his presence.
"Mianniang is still so sensitive." Shen Ji kissed her earlobe, his deep voice like a damp, cold ghost, as he leaned closer and deliberately breathed.
She froze for a moment, her expression blank, her face instantly turning bright red.
"It seems you like it very much." Shen Ji feigned surprise and leaned closer to her, speaking slowly.
Jiang Mian's mind immediately tightened, and she retreated without thinking. However, he easily grabbed her hand and slowly pulled her back.
Shen Ji's breathing quickened as he slowly leaned closer: "Mian Niang, if you don't speak, I'm going to kiss you."
A faint tickling sensation came from beside her ear, making Jiang Mian feel a little dizzy. Her long eyelashes were still wet with tears. She was really scared, afraid that Shen Ji would do anything.
Fortunately, he still had his senses.
Jiang Mian carefully pulled the blanket over her shoulder, and under his gaze, she had no choice but to explain, "I'm a little cold."
Then, she covered herself and him with the blanket, so that no one could tell what she was doing unless they looked.
Shen Ji raised an eyebrow, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
The room was quiet when a gust of wind suddenly swept in through the window.
Jiang Mian lowered her head, her cheeks flushed, thankful that the blanket covered everything.
The wedding in half a month cannot afford any mistakes, and she hasn't even asked if Shen Ji is in the manor yet.
Thinking of this, she opened her eyes and tugged at his clothes.
"Cousin, will you leave again?"
Shen Ji was about to rest when he heard this and was stunned for a moment. After his actions just now, he felt much better. Now that he suddenly heard her showing concern for him, he thought that she had finally shown some care.
But the next moment, his heart sank into an icy abyss.
Why would she suddenly care about him?
It wasn't because she liked him or cared about him.
Instead, in two weeks, she was to marry another man!
Shen Ji frowned slightly, staring at her coldly.
The girl who had just been so intimate and allowed him to take whatever he wanted was now filled with tension and anticipation in her eyes. What was she hoping for? Was she hoping he would say that he wouldn't be there that day?
Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint her.
How could he just watch her marry someone else?
My dear sister, you're so naive.
Don't assume that just because someone calls him her cousin, he really is her brother. If he wants, he can become her husband at any time.
By then, she will never leave him.
Jiang Mian had no idea that her thoughts had been completely exposed to him. She desperately wanted to know the answer, as it was crucial to the success of her plan.
"Do you want me to leave or stay?" Shen Ji didn't answer, but asked in return.
Even though he knew perfectly well what she was thinking, he still wouldn't give up and wanted to hear her say it herself, like a ridiculous form of self-deception.
“I…” Jiang Mian slowly loosened her fingers. She frowned in thought. Of course, she didn’t want him to stay, but how should she tell him? If she made it obvious, what if he noticed? Wouldn’t that be a loss?
But getting him to stay would make her plan even more difficult to implement.
Almost impossible.
Seeing that she didn't answer for a long time, Shen Ji seemed to lose patience. He lifted the blanket, and Jiang Mian was startled and subconsciously dodged backward.
The girl, who had just finished washing, exuded a fragrance. Her long hair was like black mist, and the water on it had not yet been dried. Her fair skin was covered with marks, and the red marks on her exposed calves were particularly noticeable.
"I'm leaving tomorrow and won't be back for a month," Shen Ji replied coldly, roughly untying the jade belt from her chest.
Hearing this, Jiang Mian breathed a sigh of relief. However, the next moment, he suddenly kissed her lips. This kiss was different from the ones before. It was not gentle, but rather carried a bit of ferocity. He did not treat her gently and tenderly as he always did. Instead, he bit her lips roughly. Before long, Jiang Mian felt the taste of blood between her teeth.
Shen Ji's mind was filled with thoughts of how she had fabricated lies to deceive him in order to get married.
He thought about her constantly, while she thought about leaving him constantly.
He felt he had acted very rationally; otherwise, he would have locked her up right now, so that no one could see her and she wouldn't have escaped.
"Cousin...it hurts..." Shen Ji's lips gradually moved downwards, leaving marks on every inch of her skin with force. Jiang Mian was puzzled. Shen Ji would never have treated her like this before. What was wrong with him today?
It's already over, why come back again?
"After a month apart, I have to leave something behind for you, so you won't forget me."
Jiang Mian's tense thoughts relaxed slightly. So that's how it is. He almost thought that Shen Ji had discovered her plan.
Fortunately, it was just his possessiveness acting up.
That night felt exceptionally long.
Jiang Mian had completely given up resisting. After he finished, he seemed to whisper something in her ear, but Jiang Mian was too sleepy at the time and didn't hear it at all. She just nodded randomly.
Little liar.
You're just fooling him.
Shen Ji gently kissed her lips, letting her be happy for a few days. Once those days were over, she wouldn't be allowed to do whatever she wanted.
