Reunion

Reunion

Ever since she drank that bowl of medicine mixed with her blood that day, Jiang Mian has often had dreams. Sometimes she dreams that she runs away and has reached a safe place, but he always manages to find her.

He followed her relentlessly, no matter where she went, he would always find her. Then, he whispered menacingly in her ear: "Mianniang, you can't escape. We will be together forever."

Jiang Mian woke up with a start. When she woke up and saw the person sleeping soundly next to her, her heart felt like it was blocked with cotton, and she felt powerless.

Shen Ji had some free time these past few days. For the past seven days, he had spent every moment with her, not only teaching her to play chess but also discussing many interesting current events with her. There were several moments when Jiang Mian felt that he had turned back into the upright and gentlemanly cousin he used to be.

But every night, the restless fingertips beneath her skirt and the soft, heavy breathing in her ear would completely overturn her opinion, concluding that the person in front of her was nothing more than a facade.

She was extremely tired, but he was still not satisfied.

Every time, I would take her to wash after we finished, and every time, we would rekindle our passion in the bathtub.

Several days passed like this, and no matter how tired Jiang Mian was, she would force herself to go and wash up.

The seven days passed quickly. On the evening of the sixth day, she finished her meal as usual and prepared to rest.

In the past, if she was really tired, he would not force her. The thought of leaving this place tomorrow made her a little happy, but she dared not show it.

She didn't want to fool around with him tonight. She'd leave tomorrow, and then find a chance to remove the Gu worm from her body, and then...

She blinked, suppressing the restless thought.

The world is so vast, he can't possibly confine her forever.

Jiang Mian was in a good mood, so she turned off the lights early and lay down on the inner side of the bed. When Shen Ji came back, what he saw was a slender figure with a slight bulge behind the bed curtains.

He raised an eyebrow, but didn't stop walking.

As he approached the bedside, he saw the girl's eyes were tightly closed, her long eyelashes, like raven feathers, covered her face, and her brow was peaceful, as if she were truly asleep.

He calmly watched her, slowly undressing beside her.

These past few days, she has been very well-behaved, never thinking of running away, and her words have become sweeter than before. He clearly likes her obedience and docility, but the thought that her brief show of goodwill is just to get benefits from him makes him unable to be happy no matter what.

The cool moonlight streamed into the room through the window, casting a frosty white shadow in the dark night. The young man took off his outer robe, took his inner garment in his hand, and went into the bathtub in the inner room.

Jiang Mian kept her eyes tightly closed, but she was not sleepy at all.

She had been so focused that she was afraid he would realize she was pretending to be asleep, and when she heard his footsteps fading away, she felt a strange sense of relief.

In the past few days, when she was with him, she was able to say sweet words without changing her expression, but occasionally, when she met Shen Ji's cold and beautiful eyes, she would feel that he did not actually believe her.

She never truly understood him.

Fortunately, she will be able to leave this place tomorrow.

Shen Ji returned shortly afterward, his hair still dripping wet. He suddenly leaned down and kissed her. Jiang Mian felt some water droplets fall onto her neck, making her feel itchy, but she dared not scratch them.

She endured for a long time, but Shen Ji did not let go of her. She pretended to be woken up and reached out to push him, but unexpectedly, he held her hands tightly and put them on top of her head. With his other hand, he pinched her chin, forcing the kiss to go deeper.

Jiang Mian was a little out of breath, and her face turned red. She secretly bit him, but he not only did not back away, but even took the opportunity to kiss her more intimately. The sound of saliva rang in her ears. It was a very passionate kiss.

No matter how she tried to dodge, he could always hook her tongue and force them to intertwine.

When he finally released her, satisfied, Jiang Mian was already panting heavily, collapsing weakly onto the bed. Her chest heaved with each breath, the soft swelling falling into his deep eyes. Without hesitation, he easily undressed her and lowered his gaze to kiss her.

Jiang Mian was taken aback, but her hands were still held in his palms, and she couldn't break free, so she twisted her body.

No matter how she moved, it felt like she was being led to him. Finally, she couldn't help but call out, "Cousin..."

Shen Ji seemed not to hear at all and continued talking as if he hadn't heard a thing.

Jiang Mian had no choice but to wait for him to finish. However, he now knew her body very well and knew where she would react strongly when he touched her.

She felt completely out of control, her body arching into a beautiful curve, but the whimper that had just escaped her lips was silenced by his lips.

He continued kissing her.

Jiang Mian felt like a fish on a chopping board, her life or death entirely in his hands. If he was happy, he would give her some water and revive her; if he was unhappy, it would be like scraping her scales with a knife, a long and arduous torture.

Finally, the water receded and fell, and she stopped struggling. The executioner slowly put away his weapon and removed her from the chopping board.

Jiang Mian stared blankly at the bed curtains until the person beside her suddenly spoke, pulling her wandering thoughts back.

“Mianniang, look, you need me so much.”

He spoke slowly and deliberately, his voice like that of a high monk preaching in a temple, conveying a sense of tranquility, aloofness, and a touch of nonchalant superiority.

But what he said was the most secretive thing in the world. Jiang Mian's face turned red, and even her whole body turned pinkish-white. How could she have thought that he was free from any worldly desires? Now it seems that he is just a hypocritical lecher.

Jiang Mian's hair was a little damp, and she felt uncomfortable, so she wanted to wash it.

About half an hour later, the place returned to its dry state. She came out from behind the screen and saw Shen Ji, and her steps became a little weak.

Fortunately, he had his eyes slightly closed, as if he didn't want to continue.

Jiang Mian breathed a sigh of relief and slowly approached the bedside. She didn't know if he was asleep, but she was indeed sleepy at the moment. She gently lifted the covers and lay down.

Not long after, the person behind her slowly pressed against her, pulling her into his arms in an irresistible manner. She closed her eyes, hearing his heartbeat in her ear, one beat after another.

Fierce, powerful, as assertive as he was.

Jiang Mian was used to his sudden embrace, and instinctively adjusted to a comfortable position in his arms. This time, she truly fell asleep.

Not long after she fell asleep, the person behind her suddenly opened his eyes. In the pitch-black bed curtains, two figures slept together, intimately close. He held her, and she depended on him. Their bodies were used to each other, but her heart could not be fully opened to him.

But so what?

Shen Ji smiled slightly. There was still a long way to go, and he was patient.

Letting her go back this time was not a spur-of-the-moment decision, but rather because there was a necessary problem to solve.

He wasn't afraid that Mianniang would marry someone else.

No matter who she marries, he will find a way to win her back.

But there is one person he cannot let his guard down with.

The heir of the Marquis of Anyang's mansion, the one she was once betrothed to, her so-called childhood sweetheart.

He wanted to see if Mian Niang would betray him.

**

The next day, when Jiang Mian woke up, Shen Ji was no longer beside her. She was stunned for a moment, then got up and eagerly pushed open the door.

This time, she easily pushed open the locked door. Jiang Mian couldn't quite describe the feeling, but she felt much more relaxed.

After breakfast, Shen Ji still hadn't appeared. He Yue brought her a bowl of herbal soup, and Jiang Mian realized that the seven-day period was up and she needed to take her medicine.

However, recalling the last time Shen Jiyong cut his wrist with the blade of his sword, I wonder where he cut this time.

However, it has nothing to do with her where he draws the incantation. He forced her to take the incantation, and he hurt himself because he brought it on himself.

Jiang Mian didn't hesitate and drank the medicine in one gulp. She wondered if it was just her imagination, but the medicine she drank last time was extremely bitter, while this time it was much less bitter. She pursed her lips and asked, "Did you brew this?"

He Yue nodded, still respectfully saying, "This is a formula that you improved, young master. The medicinal properties have not been weakened, but the taste is less bitter."

It turned out he had changed the prescription.

Jiang Mian didn't react for a moment. She put down the bowl and couldn't help but ask, "Isn't he here?"

"Young master left early this morning. Miss, you may return at any time if you wish to leave today."

Jiang Mian was somewhat surprised. She was curious about where he had gone, but seeing the empty medicine bowl, she held back. Anyway, he had let her go. Although she couldn't completely leave his side, at least he no longer restricted her freedom.

She suppressed the subtle complex emotions in her heart, took a carriage, and soon arrived at the Shen residence.

Because she left a letter beforehand, she couldn't be considered missing. Her sudden return surprised the servants, but they were mostly puzzled.

As Jiang Mian walked along, several people looked at her with curiosity.

She felt uneasy, thinking that Shen Ji had done something again.

As soon as they turned into the front yard, Shen Yuan greeted them with great enthusiasm, showing them concern and care. Jiang Mian was completely bewildered, as her uncle had never treated her so warmly before. She followed him to the flower hall in a daze.

Unexpectedly, I saw a stranger's back.

He was a tall, slender man in a dark bamboo-colored cloak, with a handsome and upright figure. She felt that he looked familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him before.

Shen Yuan continued, "When you went back to Yangzhou a few days ago, your second uncle was a little worried, but fortunately you have returned safely now."

“Mian’er, come here, let your second uncle introduce you. This is the heir of the Marquis of Anyang’s mansion, and also your former fiancé in Yangzhou.”

Shen Yuan's voice was calm and unhurried, but Jiang Mian was a little taken aback. Her mind went blank, and she almost thought she had misheard.

Her tense thoughts suddenly snapped when that figure turned around.

Familiar eyes and brows, familiar face.

It was her brother Wen Shi...

But, Brother Wenshi, didn't you fall off a cliff three years ago? She personally erected a cenotaph for him. Why is a dead man standing perfectly fine in front of her?

Jiang Mian felt like she was going crazy, actually fantasizing that Song Wenshi would appear in front of her.

It wasn't until the young man smiled at her gently as always that she realized that it really was Brother Wen Shi.

"Mian'er, I'm sorry I'm late."
