Chapter 9: Best Friend Appears

Su Shien hesitated and said, "Do you know why our wedding date is set in early September?"

Han Zeyu looked thoughtful and did not answer him immediately.

Han Zeyu wanted to say that he knew, because Su Shien was not yet eighteen years old. If he wanted to do this and that, and then do that and that again, he would not be able to get over the hurdle in his heart.

Presumably the answer would not be colorful waste, so Han Zeyu had to think of another way.

After a moment, Han Zeyu finally spoke again: "Because Madam Su wanted you to get married sooner and move on, but she also didn't want you to take the Autumn Examination this year, so she set this date?"

Su Shien looked at Han Zeyu blankly, as if he had been acupunctured. He had actually guessed it right...

Seeing the other party's surprised expression, Han Zeyu knew that he had guessed right, and couldn't help but feel secretly happy. He thought that all those TV dramas he had watched before were not in vain, and now they were finally useful.

"So that's what's bothering you! If I were to move up the wedding date, the problem would be solved."

Su Shien shook his head: "I'm afraid it's difficult. The eldest lady won't agree. She has always been wary of me."

"Well... then we'll find a way to make her let down her guard. Let me think about the specifics."

Su Shien wanted to speak again, but voices were heard outside the Moon Gate, so he had to signal the boy to leave quickly.

Before leaving, Han Zeyu quickly touched the back of Su Shien's hand, and before the other party could react, he decisively climbed over the wall and ran away.

Su Shien, who was left standing, blushed profusely, her heartbeat uncontrollably. This was outrageous. In broad daylight, she was actually being taken advantage of by a little guy.

He cleared his cough twice and tried to keep a straight face. He couldn't lose his image or personality. He had to escape from the Su family as soon as possible!

I don’t know what solution he can come up with. Ahem, why did I think of him again? Read books, read books. Books are the golden house and the beautiful jade.

Yan Ruyu? Is she as pretty as Yu Ge'er?

Su Shien opened the book in frustration and covered his burning face with it. He could smell the scent of paper and ink, but his mind was a mess.

I can't calm down and can't concentrate on reading this book today.

Han Zeyu walked around and went back to find his second brother. He found that he was packing up his things, and the two younger ones were helping him to the best of their ability.

Han Zecang was not annoyed. There were not many things anyway, so he let them do whatever they wanted.

"What are you doing? Are you packing up and leaving today? You got laid off so suddenly."

Han Zecang rolled his eyes: "Congratulations, you got the answer right. I'm going home to farm now. Are you happy?"

Han Zeyu shook his head: "It's okay. After all, there's not much work to do in the fields right now. It doesn't matter whether you go back or not."

Han Zecang sat back on the bed angrily, folding his arms and looking at his elder brother. Is this the legendary brotherly love and respect? This guy was not like this before!

Han Zeyu rummaged through his pockets, took out a tael of silver and threw it to his second brother: "Don't go home. There's really not much work right now. Take the money, pay your tuition, and continue your studies at the academy as a student."

"Ah? You want me to study at Qingshan Academy? But why? The tuition is very expensive, and the writing brushes, ink, paper, and inkstone are not cheap either."

Han Zeyu raised his head proudly: "Your elder brother is going to marry the eldest son of the Su family. We are not short of money. Your brother-in-law just said that you are quite clever. If you take the Tongsheng exam, you will definitely pass it."

Han Zecang was stunned and said in disbelief, "Did Young Master Su really say that? He, a young master from an aristocratic family, actually noticed a little book boy like me. Could it be that I really have a talent for studying?"

Han Zeyu looked at his stupid brother with disdain, shattering his fantasy: "He noticed you because I'm your brother. This is called loving someone and loving their dog, don't you understand? You must study hard and don't waste my investment in your education."

Han Zeyu took his younger brother and sister to the city gate to ride in an ox cart, wondering whether his family should also buy a donkey cart or mule cart or other means of transportation. He didn't need them, but other people in the family did. If the family had an animal to work during the autumn harvest, it would save a lot of manpower and time.

It’s better to act quickly than to be tempted. Next time, take your dad to the city and let him choose. You don’t know anything about it anyway.

When Han Zeyu returned, he was still carrying a large basket. It was hard to see what was inside, and generally no one would be so impatient as to steal other people's things.

But Han Zeyu met an unusual person today, that is Qian Ning, the "good friend" who instigated the original body to commit suicide by jumping into the river.

Qian Ning used to have a very close relationship with the original body, the kind that could talk about anything, so he was naturally not shy with him.

The original body thought that he was older than Qian Ning, and they were the only two brothers in the village, so he was usually very tolerant of Qian Ning and thought that he was a younger brother with a somewhat extroverted personality.

But now the owner of this shell has changed. Qian Ning's unrestrained behavior would result in his hand being chopped off in the end times. Although Han Zeyu is not very violent, he is very disgusted with this behavior. He slapped Qian Ning's hand without saying a word and moved the bamboo basket to his side.

Qian Ning had never seen this side of Han Zeyu before. He seemed to be frightened. He looked at him in silence with red eyes. If you didn't know better, you would think that he had suffered a great injustice.

When Han Zeyu saw his expression, he thought of the ruthless junior schoolmate who helped him to come back to life. Oh my god! It turns out that Qian Ning is actually a white lotus in this prosperous age!

Seeing this, Han Zeyu wanted to stay away from him, but the space on the ox cart was limited, so he had to keep as much distance from Bai Lianhua as possible.

Qian Ning was really aggrieved this time. Why was Yu Ge'er avoiding him like the plague? Did he do something wrong, or did Han Zeyu know something?

But he's already engaged to the eldest son of the Su family, what else is there to be dissatisfied with? Why is he putting on such a bad face for me?

After thinking about a bunch of random things, Qian Ning glanced at Han Zeyu and said resentfully, "It's different after getting engaged. You don't even want to talk to me anymore."

Han Zeyu was very honest. He wasn't good at teasing and playing Tai Chi with Bai Lianhua. Past experience told him that verbal disputes were best resolved quickly, so he simply retorted, "This has nothing to do with whether we're engaged or not. I just don't want to bother with you from the bottom of my heart."

Qian Ning was stunned. What was he talking about? What did he mean?

Han Zeyu started to pester: "When I said I don't want to pay attention to you, I meant it literally."

Qian Ning was about to cry: "There are outsiders in this car. Is there anything between us that cannot be discussed in private? Brother Yu, are you so disregarding my dignity?"

Han Zeyu's perspective on the problem was very unique. He thought to himself, "What the hell! What do you mean by an outsider? So you've always considered yourself an insider?"

This is intolerable, I can no longer bear it, I don't need to bear it anymore...
