Chapter 113 Luo Chen's Dialogue with the Artifact Spirit

“You seem different from him. I’d like to be your friend, Master.”

The spirit's tone was slightly fluctuating.

“You don’t really want to be my friend yet; you’re still calling me master.”

Luo Chen gently shook his head.

"Then...I understand, Brother Chen!"

The spirit's tone became somewhat cheerful.

"Very good, congratulations on becoming yourself at this moment."

Luo Chen smiled and said again, "Then please let my friend hear my story."

"Brother Chen, it seems you've forgotten that I'm the one who watched you grow up."

The spirit began to have its own subjective opinions.

“My friend, how could I forget? You have always been in my heart. What I want to tell you is about my past life.”

"I understand, Brother Chen, please tell me about it."

Luo Chen chuckled and said, "I'm glad to have someone to listen."

Buzz!

The spirit's self-awareness fluctuated once again.

"In my previous life, I was an ordinary person. I met the gentlest people in the world when I was born. As I grew up, I experienced the helpless, indifferent and cruel people and things in the world. Yet, I am still moved by a fallen leaf and softened by a greeting because of that gentleness. When I fall, my tears will dry and my wounds will scab over. Rather than waiting for others to save me, I eventually learned to mend my soul in the dead of night."

Luo Chen took a deep breath and continued, "Even so, I did not give up on myself and still live on firmly. Even though that light has left me and disappeared into the river of time, I know that I must let that light continue, because deep in my heart I hope that gentleness will last forever."

Buzz! Buzz!

"Okay, that's the end of my story. Thank you for listening. Now, please tell me your story. If you don't want to, I will respect your decision."

Luo Chen wiped away a tear from the corner of his eye and forced out a fairly nice smile.

"Brother Chen, I'm willing to confide in you about my past."

The spirit's voice paused for a moment before ringing out again: "I was born in chaos, embodying the nine colors of the Dao in the world. As a newborn, I witnessed the most brutal wars in the world. I understood that they were waged to seize my ownership, but at that time I was still smug, thinking that so many people valued me and that my master would surely be the strongest."

"That's true. He was the strongest in that world, and I wholeheartedly assisted him in conquering the heavens. Just when I thought I could be with him forever, he received news that fusing multiple Daoist thoughts could lead to the supreme realm. Without hesitation, he drained the nine-colored Daoist thoughts that had been accumulating in my body for millions of years, causing me to fall into a deep sleep. When I woke up, I found that he had already left, and my connection with him was completely severed. I was filled with despair and sealed myself away."

Buzz!

The spirit's self-awareness fluctuated again, and then she let out a long breath: "Brother Chen, thank you. I never thought I would tell someone else this one day."

"You should thank yourself the most. If you don't mind, how about I give you a new name?"

Luo Chen looked relieved and made a suggestion.

"Of course, I'm really looking forward to it. What name will you give me, my friend?"

The spirit's tone became lively.

"Let me think about it. Naming is something that needs to be done carefully, especially when it comes to naming a friend."

Luo Chen rested his chin on one hand, beginning to think seriously, while the spirit's self-awareness waited quietly...
