"Good morning, students. I am Zhang Yonggang, president of Shanghai University of Foreign Languages. Welcome everyone to join us.
I have no doubt about your love for languages, otherwise, you would not have chosen such a university that ranks last among the five universities in Shanghai.
Today, before I officially begin my speech, I have a question for everyone: Are you willing to give your all, risk your dignity, and change your school's ranking?
Zhang Yonggang quickly scanned the entire audience and said in a deep voice.
"I do! I scored 692 on the Gaokao, so I could get into Peking University or Tsinghua University. I chose Shanghai University of Foreign Languages because I love Spanish. In my heart, foreign language universities are temples of language. Why are they ranked ahead of us and still feel so superior?"

There was laughter from the audience.
