Chapter 54 Like Father, Like Daughter

In the previous chapter, Zhao Huan was trapped in the Jiying Hall by Jin Wushu's army, which was fifteen times his own. Zhao Huan used himself as bait to lure Jin Wushu closer, and then ignited 10 tons of black gunpowder buried underground. With a loud bang, the Jiying Hall was reduced to scorched earth. Zhao Huan's life or death was unknown, and the rest of the troops were all killed in the battle.

The fireball and mushroom cloud that shot up into the sky were fifty meters in diameter, and the roar of the explosion could be clearly heard outside the city of Bianliang.

The battlefields, bustling with the sounds of clanging and clashing, suddenly paused, and fell eerily silent. Everyone looked towards the Bianjing Palace, and a terrifying thought arose in their hearts: "What happened in the Bianjing Palace?"

The first to bear the brunt were Yue Fei, Niu Gao and others who were fighting against the Jin soldiers in the Daqing Hall Square. They were located closest to the Jiying Hall.

Back to a quarter of an hour ago, the Jin soldiers were charging towards the "Katyusha". In order to create an opportunity for Zhao Xi to launch another attack, Niu Gao took the initiative to sprint forward fifty meters, leaving a little buffer zone.

Zhao Xi was not frightened and calmly completed the direction adjustment and ignition launch. A wave of twenty-five rockets, accompanied by the sound of breaking through the air, landed perfectly in the tunnel entrance with a diameter of ten meters. The terrifying heat wave generated by the violent explosion spread all the way along the underground passage, and the screams of the Jin soldiers resounded through the sky.

When the smoke cleared, a corridor nearly 100 meters long appeared on the square of Daqing Hall, like the traces left by earthworms burrowing in the soil after rain. The underground passage, this section of more than 100 meters was buried alive.

The thirty or so men who were besieging Niu Gao stared with their eyes wide open, gritting their teeth, and wishing they could eat Niu Gao alive: "It's bad. I didn't complete the task assigned by the Marshal. I'm afraid my life is over."

"Niu, you're courting death. Come on, brothers, kill him and redeem yourself for your crimes, giving you a glimmer of hope."

"Fuck, this is really going to kill me." Niu Gao rushed left and right among a group of Jin soldiers, and in just one minute he was injured.

Oh, that's not right. You may wonder, even if Niu Gao is not as good as Yue Fei, he should at least be at the same level as Wang Gui and Zhang Xian. We just talked about how Wang Gui and Zhang Xian killed the elite soldiers of the Jin Dynasty as easily as cutting melons and vegetables. How could Niu Gao be so useless and even injured?

It’s not that Niu Gao is useless, it’s because of this reason.

First, the base of Katyusha was made of cast iron, weighing five or six hundred kilograms. He ran for one thousand five hundred meters while carrying it, and then there was a wave of firing, and he fought with more than thirty elite Jin soldiers. His heart was beating fast.

Secondly, Princess Zhao Xi was right behind them. She was a little girl less than five years old, so Niu Gao had to pay close attention to her and not let the Jin soldiers kill her.

This is the author's nonsense. While typing, Zhao Xi accidentally typed an extra "n," and it became Zhao Xin. Somehow, I suddenly felt happy. If Zhao Xi were replaced with Zhao Xin, a flash of cold light would appear first, followed by a spear blast like a dragon. These thirty or so Jin soldiers wouldn't be enough for him to kill alone! That must be, definitely not the case. The determination to break into the enemy's formation is to die, not live.

Third, anyone who is tormented by three beautiful ladies for a few days would probably have trembling legs.

Niu Gao fought for his life, but he couldn't bear it anymore and shouted, "Girl, run!"

Zhao Xi heard it and didn't run away.

Where to run? The palace guards are surrounded by Jin soldiers in Jiying Palace. It will take a while for the people from the Imperial City Bureau to arrive. There are only my mother and a few palace maids in Funing Palace, so I can't go there.

Zhao Xi suddenly realized that he had to kill the enemy and it would be inappropriate to run anywhere.

Zhao Xi struggled to load the only remaining rocket into the barrel, one, two, three.

No one noticed. Zhao Xi lowered the muzzle of the gun, aimed it at Niu Gao and the thirty Jin soldiers in front of him, and lit the fuse without hesitation.

"Uncle Niu, lie down quickly!"

Zhao Xi's crisp voice reached Niu Gao's ears first. Niu Gao turned around and was so scared that his soul almost flew out of his body.

Three rockets, shining brightly, came straight towards him.

"What a capable girl!" Niu Gao rolled over like a lazy donkey, rolling four or five meters away, face down, with his hands covering his head.

“BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!”

After three explosions, the rockets that fell into the crowd immediately exerted their terrifying killing power. The elite Jin soldiers were blown away and fled in panic. Niu Gao, who was lying face down on the ground first, was very wise. Only his buttocks were on fire, which was not a big problem and could be endured.

The thick smoke cleared, and Niu Gao smelled the aroma of meat in the air. He put out the fire on his butt. It hurt so much.

"Things have changed. This year it's my turn. I'll let you act like a fool." Niu Gao raised his knife and chopped off the heads of the Jin soldiers one by one. Then he threw them aside and piled them up. "Hey kid, one Jin soldier's head costs twenty strings of cash. Do you still keep your word?"

"Of course it counts. The Zhao family's word is law." Zhao Xi put his hands on his hips and said proudly, "Uncle Niu, I also contributed a lot. Can you give me a share of the reward you exchanged? I don't even have pocket money."

As the two were talking, a shout suddenly came from afar.

"Brother Niu, Brother Niu!"

Niu Gao followed the sound and saw three men in Jin armor rushing towards him like wild horses. The voices sounded familiar, like Wang Gui and Zhang Xian. Their builds were similar, too.

"Old Four, Old Five?" Niu Gao asked in a puzzled tone, "Why are you here? And you're wearing Jin soldiers' uniforms. Are you undercover agents or members of the Infernal Affairs?"

"Brother Niu, it's a long story. I'll let my eldest brother tell you later."

"Brother is here too!" Niu Gao decisively avoided the outstretched hands of Zhang Xian and Wang Gui and gave Yue Fei a big hug behind him: "Brother Yue, I miss you so much."
