Chapter 22 08.29/This is the second update of Observe Me.
Chu Song’s heart snapped.
If the boss said he didn't like it, then should she still drink it? She wanted to drink it, after all, Fan Tingnian was not there, but now she was in Fan Tingnian's private restaurant, and she always felt a little weird if she drank it.
After a moment, she sighed inwardly and reluctantly put down the grape juice.
However, Sophie was unaware of what was going on between the two. She walked over and, seeing Chu Song hadn't touched the grape juice next to him, kindly reminded him, "It's okay, you can drink it."
“Ah…” Chu Song took a look and decided to give up.
She won't come to this restaurant for dinner tomorrow.
The staff cafeteria's meal time is from seven to ten in the morning. The last few versions of the renderings have been proofread and submitted to Shu Ang in both text and written form, and then she handed them over to Fan Tingnian.
The phased work has come to an end, and Chusong’s schedule has not been so tight these past two days. He goes to bed early at night and gets up early in the morning, and his daily routine is very normal.
The next morning, just after eight o'clock, she came downstairs and went to the restaurant for breakfast.
She had just come out of the elevator and was walking towards the staff cafeteria when she ran into Fan Tingnian in the corridor. Actually, it wasn't just Fan Tingnian, it was Fan Tingnian and Wan Ting.
Wan Ting stood beside Fan Tingnian, holding some lists in his right hand, seemingly reporting something to him.
Wan Ting saw Chu Song first and nodded to greet her.
Chu Song originally wanted to avoid him, but Wan Ting greeted her first, and she pretended not to see him, which seemed a bit inappropriate. Besides, the two of them were standing in the middle of the road, and she needed to go around them to go to the staff restaurant.
Chu Song tried his best to avoid looking at Fan Tingnian. He walked a few steps closer and bowed to Wan Ting, saying, "Hello, Steward Wan Ting."
Then, before he straightened up, he said, "Good morning, Mr. Fan."
Then she felt a gaze falling on her head. It wasn't Wan Ting, but Fan Tingnian who was looking at her.
Chu Song was now somewhat certain that the gazes she had occasionally felt falling on her before were probably from Fan Tingnian.
She looked up at the gaze and tried hard to ignore it.
"Going to eat?" she heard Wan Ting ask.
She looked at Wan Ting, nodded, and answered very friendly and gently: "Yes, I got up early today, so I came early. The food in the restaurant is really delicious."
Then Wan Ting noticed Chu Song's gaze on them and casually explained, "Mr. Fan also wants to have breakfast."
"Yeah." Chu Song responded, and then she didn't know what to say.
She felt that Fan Tingnian seemed to look at her again.
She took a deep breath and wanted to leave this place.
Wan Ting seemed to have sensed her thoughts and moved a step closer to Fan Tingnian, leaving more space behind him and making room for Chu Song.
"Let's go eat." He said in the tone of an elder.
Chu Song was truly grateful this time. He nodded and bowed to Wan Ting again: "Okay, then I'll go eat first. You guys can chat slowly."
Wan Ting nodded, waited for Chu Song to walk over, shook the last document in his hand, and wanted to report to Fan Tingnian the profit of an investment project in the most recent quarter.
“In a winery in France...”
Fan Tingnian interrupted him in a calm voice, "Let's talk about it this afternoon. I want to eat."
Just now, Wan Ting met Fan Tingnian when he came out of the elevator. Because the decision on a project was urgent, he stopped Fan Tingnian to ask for his opinion. There was really no need to tell him the rest now.
Although reporting the profit only takes two minutes, Wan Ting always puts Fan Tingnian's intentions first.
He put the documents into the briefcase and made way: "Okay, I'll come see you this afternoon."
"By the way," Wan Ting frowned, "I heard from Sophie that you had a bad stomach yesterday and didn't eat breakfast or lunch?"
"Um."
Wan Ting looked him up and down, paying close attention to his expression. "How was your day? Sophie said you originally said you wouldn't eat today either."
Fan Tingnian's face was cold and his emotions were unrecognizable, but he always had this expression, so Wan Ting didn't pay much attention to it.
"It's okay today." Fan Tingnian said.
"Is there anything else?" Fan Tingnian asked before Wan Ting spoke again.
Wan Ting: “No, sir.”
"Yeah." The tall man turned around and walked towards the end of the restaurant in the corridor.
The staff restaurant and the restaurant where Fan Tingnian eats are in the same direction and not far away, with five or six rooms in between. However, the place where Fan Tingnian eats is more private, at the end of the east side, and has better lighting and a large terrace.
Chu Song walked slowly, and soon she heard the sound of steady footsteps behind her.
She didn't expect it was Fan Tingnian, so when she heard the voice, she subconsciously turned her head and looked, and then her eyes met those brown-green eyes.
Chu Song's heart skipped a beat, and her voice got stuck in her throat. But after two seconds, she recovered and lowered her chin slightly to greet Fan Tingnian, "Hello, Mr. Fan."
After racking her brains for words, she could only say, "I wish you a pleasant breakfast."
Although the man looked at her, he ignored her. Chu Song felt that it was useless for her to say anything.
Fortunately, the staff restaurant was almost there, just diagonally in front of her. She breathed a sigh of relief, turned to Fan Tingnian, and gestured to him in the direction behind her: "Mr. Fan, I'm going to have dinner now. Take care."
Fan Tingnian's slow steps finally stopped.
The look he gave her seemed a little darker than before.
The two of them were more than one meter apart. Chu Song didn't look up, but glanced sideways at the intricate patterns on the carpet. She heard Fan Tingnian ask her.
"Where are you going to eat?"
Chu Song took a deep breath and pointed to the staff restaurant behind him: "The restaurant in the back is the one that provides meals for the employees."
After Chu Song finished answering, she could clearly feel the atmosphere become more tense. There was a wall behind her, and she subconsciously took half a step back, further away from Fan Tingnian.
After a long while, the man in front of him spoke again: "You hate me."
A huge pot fell from the sky. Chu Song quickly looked up and waved his hand: "No, you are my boss, and a very good employer. How could I..."
"You said you didn't like me."
Oh my god, he said it so loudly! Chu Song glanced around and confirmed that there was no one in the corridor and no one came out of the restaurant.
"Why are you so nervous? I'm discussing scientific issues with you. You said yesterday that issues between men and women are very profound scientific issues." The man said slowly and clearly.
Chu Song raised his hands and gently pressed them down in the air to calm himself down, and also to signal Fan Tingnian to speak more quietly.
She explained in a low voice: "Dislike is not hate."
"But you don't even observe me now."
The topic changed a bit too quickly. Chu Song reacted for a moment and continued to explain, "That's because we've been together for over half a month. I'm quite familiar with you and your living habits. That's why I want to reduce the time I spend observing you."
Fan Tingnian smelled her scent again. He felt a little uncomfortable because he hadn't smelled it all day yesterday. Now she raised her hand to gesture, and there was a faint fragrance, which he liked very much.
"You don't understand me." The man said lightly.
"Hmm?" Chu Song stopped explaining and looked up.
Fan Tingnian's eyes slid from the tip of her ear to her earlobe, and then to the tip of her nose: "When I eat or work, I will switch to my left hand when I feel tired."
Chu Song nodded: "Yes, I know."
She had observed this long ago and had made detailed notes.
"But you don't know that although I switch to my left hand when I'm tired of eating, I only use my left hand to use the fork, not the chopsticks or spoon."
"......" How could she possibly notice how he was so picky about details.
"I'm sorry, it was my negligence at work."
He took a half step forward, bent down, and stared at her with his green pupils, his face expressionless: "If you do this, I will think that your work attitude is not serious."
He was quite close, and Chu Song could smell the scent on him. He couldn't tell what it was, but it was like calming incense, very faint.
Chu Song didn't want him to get close to her, as it always reminded her of the time when he kissed her.
Fan Tingnian continued to look at her and made his own request: "So for the sake of your work completion, I hope you will continue to observe me, both while eating and working."
At the last sentence, he stood up straight and said, "I hope you can design something that satisfies me."
Fan Tingnian finally stepped back, and Chu Song breathed a sigh of relief. She lowered her eyes slightly and looked at the carpet under her feet.
She felt that the atmosphere between her and Fan Tingnian was a little strange in the past two days, all because of the conversation in the studio that evening.
She took a breath, calmed her heartbeat, and asked, "Are you angry because of what happened the night before yesterday?"
After a long while, she heard the man answer: "No."
But since he took so long to answer, Chu Song felt that it was possible that he had a reason.
Sure enough, she heard him say, "But I want you to continue observing me."
