Chapter 64 09.26/This is the second update. You are too much! ...
After the examination, Chu Song did not leave. Because of the monitoring system she carried with her, she was temporarily kept to cooperate with the next routine inspection process.
During the inspection, a staff member came in again, whispered a few words to several other inspectors, then walked over and politely explained the situation to her.
"Teacher, someone just came over and said you're from a professor's studio. I'm sorry to have to check your belongings."
"The inspection will not continue. Someone from your studio said they will come to pick you up."
The person who said this must be someone very important, as the call just now was from their direct superior.
Chu Song was stunned for a moment, then looked at the watch on the table again and realized that the monitoring system of this watch was still on. It was Fan Tingnian who heard what was happening here, so he didn't know which subordinate he had asked to tell the staff of the organizer this.
So he knew she knew.
The uniformed staff member gestured to her, then smiled and led her to a sofa to the side. "Would you sit here and wait for a moment?"
Chu Song followed her and sat down on the sofa.
The lounge she is in now is connected to the room she just visited, but it is an independent room.
She sat quietly and heard voices coming and going in the next room. Two more people seemed to be brought in. They also had items on them that were not in compliance with regulations, so they were undergoing routine inspections.
Ten minutes later, she was in the lounge and the door opened.
Although she did not go out with Fan Tingnian this morning, they had breakfast together. He was wearing the same dark gray shirt he had worn that morning, with a black windbreaker over it. He wore a pair of frameless glasses on his face, and his eyes fell on her through the lenses.
He was followed by two young assistants. Chu Song had never seen them before, but he knew they might be his subordinates.
The two looked at each other for a few seconds, and then he walked in.
The moment he stepped into the door, the person sitting on the sofa tensed up and obviously stepped back.
Fan Tingnian keenly felt her retreat. He paused slightly and then walked towards her.
Chu Song stared at him, nervousness and fear welling up inside her. She lowered her voice, suppressed anger in it: "Stay away from me."
The man walked towards her as if he didn't notice anything. He took a few steps, squatted in front of her, and raised his hand to hold her ankle.
She was wearing wide-leg pants with the hem pulled up a little. Her ankle was rubbed by something and there was a faint bloodstain.
Chu Song raised her leg to avoid the attack, but the person squatting in front of her missed it.
She took a deep breath and looked at him, her anger flaring up: "You've gone too far! Fan Tingnian."
The squatting man didn't say anything, but silently grabbed her right ankle, pulled her leg over, and forcibly helped her roll up her trouser legs.
"Fan Tingnian, I'm talking to you, can you hear me?!"
The man remained indifferent. He turned sideways and raised his hand to signal the person behind him to hand over the medicine.
He just heard her groan in the headphones and knew that she seemed to have bumped into something.
Because there was someone else in the next room, Chu Song lowered his voice, but he was obviously very angry: "Fan Tingnian!"
She snatched the medicine bag from his hand and threw it out. The soft medicine bag hit the ground. The sound was not loud, but it was enough to show the anger of the person who threw the thing.
The two subordinates who followed Fan Tingnian looked up. To be honest, they had never seen anyone throw Fan Tingnian's things like this.
The half-kneeling man rested his right arm on his knee and looked at her calmly and steadily.
Chu Song was going crazy: "Why aren't you talking? I'm asking you a question! Why did you install a tracking device on me and also install a monitoring device on me??"
"I know," she paused, trying to calm herself down. "I knew there might be something wrong with the watch because I couldn't take it off, but I didn't expect you to actually do this???"
"Are you listening to what I say to the people around me every day? From day to night??!" She was horrified at the thought that she was being monitored every minute and every second.
"No," the man finally interrupted her, "it's only opened occasionally during the day."
"What about just now?" Chu Song's breath was unstable, and he raised his hand to point to the next room. "Were you listening to me when I was there just now?"
Her eyes were blazing and slightly wet as she looked at him: "Why else would you come directly here? Why did the staff tell me that someone would come to pick me up?"
"You've been monitoring me."
Chu Song thought about the folders he saw last night, and how he could always find her no matter what he asked. "You know my daily movements, and you know where I am!"
"Also, just now, before you came, I asked the property management of my residential complex, and they said that the residents upstairs from me have the surname Fan, as do the residents across the street, and even downstairs."
During the ten minutes she spent quietly in the lounge, she thought about her house and called the property management to confirm the situation.
She became increasingly emotional, "I clearly asked you if you bought those houses, and you said no. I clearly asked you, but you lied to me, Fan Tingnian."
"And this watch," she grabbed it and threw it on the ground, "I asked you why you knew where I was, and what this watch was for. Why did you lie to me?!"
She was panting, tears about to fall from her eyes: "Fan Tingnian, you liar!"
The people next door seemed to have heard their voices as well, and the conversation stopped for a moment.
"You lied to me first," the man said suddenly after a long while. He half lowered his head, picked up the medicine he had just thrown away, and placed it on her ankle. "You taught me to lie, and now you accuse me of lying to you."
He half-knelt in front of her, his black suit pants leaving gray marks on the ground, and his long eyelashes drooped slightly, casting a shadow.
Chu Song was silenced by his words.
She suddenly felt guilty, but still angry. Her chest heaved violently twice, and her head turned away and tilted to one side.
"But you've gone too far, Fan Tingnian!"
"I won't go back with you. I want to live in my own place!"
"Also, don't come to see me recently. I don't want to see you."
After a long time, her mood calmed down a little: "Let's just be quiet."
Chu Song was unable to attend the meeting that morning, but Zhang Xinran took notes throughout the entire process, and with another team leader present, it wouldn't be a big problem even if Chu Song wasn't there.
When she returned to the library in the afternoon, she took the transcripts made by Zhang Xinran and another team leader, and compiled a separate copy for herself on the computer.
Chu Song went to cooperate with the inspection in the morning and came back very late, missing the meeting. Zhang Xinran wanted to ask her what happened, but she had been in a bad mood since what happened in the morning. Zhang Xinran hesitated to speak twice and did not ask.
The exhibition will be held at the end of this month. The final venue layout plan will be determined within this week, and the on-site set-up will begin next week.
Due to time constraints, the entire team held a meeting that afternoon and worked an extra hour.
As it approached six o'clock, most of the content that needed to be discussed had been discussed, so Chu Song ended the meeting and asked everyone to go home as soon as possible.
Zhang Xinran was the last one to finish packing up. She took out a folder and put away the printed materials. She glanced at Chu Song's expression and walked up to her.
"What's wrong? You didn't eat much at noon."
Chu Song was not in a good mood at the meeting place at noon when he had a working lunch. It was rare for him to be listless at work and he was distracted frequently.
Chu Song was sitting in a chair, looking through the two versions of the layout plan that had just been finalized after the group meeting.
Hearing Zhang Xinran's question, she briefly regained her composure and closed the document. "I might have to have another meeting tomorrow morning. Because the government is holding a recent event at the Cultural Square, which conflicts with ours, we might have to choose another location."
"Okay, I'll let the group know later."
"No need to have them come too early, normal working hours will be enough. We have a meeting at nine o'clock."
"good."
Chu Song finished speaking, gathered his things, stood up, and walked out with Zhang Xinran: "Everyone has been working hard recently. After this exhibition, let's have another meal together as a team."
The two walked back to the office side by side, packed up their things and went downstairs together.
Because of the previous KTV incident, everyone more or less knew about the relationship between Chu Song and Fan Tingnian, and Zhang Xinran also saw Fan Tingnian come to pick her up, so she naturally assumed that Chu Song would not go with her after going downstairs.
After leaving the building, he found that it was raining outside. The rain was pouring down heavily, and it was difficult to hail a taxi through the mobile app. After turning around for several times, there was no indication of an accepted order on Zhang Xinran's phone.
Chu Song was lucky and managed to hit one.
"Are you still living where you used to live?" Chu Song asked the people around him.
Zhang Xinran was stunned for a moment, then looked at her phone and answered her, "Yes, it's cheaper there. I originally wanted to move, but when I asked about the surrounding communities, they were either too expensive or the environment was too bad, so I didn't move in the end."
Chu Song nodded and confirmed the direction the car he had taken was coming from: "Then I'll give you a ride. You can take my car."
In the past, when the group had a dinner together, she and Zhang Xinran went home together. They lived not far from each other, and Zhang Xinran's house was on her way home.
Zhang Xinran thought someone was coming to pick Chu Song up, and paused in confusion before answering, "Okay, I can't get a taxi."
Twenty minutes later, Chu Song arrived at the gate of the residential complex where she lived. She opened the door, got out of the car, and walked towards the community with an umbrella.
Having only stayed at Fan Tingnian's place for half a month, the house didn't seem as empty and deserted as it had been the last time he left. Chu Song took off his coat and placed it on the sofa along with his bag, then went back to the bedroom to check whether the windows in each room were closed and whether any dust had blown in.
When closing the window, her eyes fell on the corner of the ceiling. After thinking for a while, she checked every room, starting from the storage room, to see if there were any cameras or surveillance cameras.
Fan Tingnian had never been to her house, but on the three floors, from upstairs to downstairs, only the house she lived in now belonged to her. She was very afraid that Fan Tingnian had pressed something strange in this house or in the corridor.
After confirming all the places, she sat back on the sofa in the living room, her eyes falling on the mobile phone lying quietly on the table. Since the quarrel this morning, she has not contacted Fan Tingnian, and Fan Tingnian has not sent her any messages.
He was right, she was the one who lied to him first, but it was still too much, he couldn't treat her that way.
