Chapter 248 The Sunken Temple!

After a dizzying spin.

Lin Mo landed on the sea with a "plop".

However, to his astonishment...

The sea was surprisingly calm, without a single ripple.

Looking up suddenly, Lin Mo also noticed...

The sailboat he had stolen was sitting calmly and steadily in the distance on the sea.

Oh no!

Should we say it's suspended?

Or is it still and motionless?

Or, either of these statements is acceptable!

In short, it stood there quietly!

"My lord!" Xiang Yu's voice rang out.

Lin Mo turned his head and saw Xiang Yu swimming towards him.

"This place is just too..."

How strange! Lin Mo thought to himself.

"My lord, what should we do now?" Xiang Yu asked again.

"Dive!" Lin Mo replied.

This request was made by Zhao Wushi.

Without hesitation, Lin Mo plunged headfirst into the seawater.

I opened my eyes and saw...

Good heavens!

The seabed is a hidden paradise!

"Is this Atlantis?" Lin Mo couldn't help but think.

Because he saw a magnificent building that had been underwater for many years!

Submerged in the sea, unable to speak.

So Lin Mo swam straight toward that building.

"See the temple entrance to the due east? Swim in from there!" Zhao Wushi prompted.

What? A temple? Lin Mo exclaimed in surprise.

Following Zhao Wushi's instructions, Lin Mo quickly found the entrance to the due east.

Hold your breath and speed up.

Lin Mo swam past the entrance.

Then, to his surprise, he discovered...

The underwater temple was not completely submerged by the sea.

Oh no, that's not right!

The sea level is much higher than this temple.

Why can't the seawater get in? Lin Mo was very puzzled.

Don't worry about it for now, quickly surface and take a deep breath.

"Damn, this is even more outrageous!" Lin Mo thought to himself, "The breath here isn't stale at all!"

Soon after, Xiang Yu also surfaced.

"Don't ask, I can't answer anything!" Lin Mo stopped him from speaking.

So Xiang Yu looked around like a curious child, his face full of astonishment.

“Keep going!” Lin Mo said.

After swimming for a long time, they discovered that there was a platform ahead.

So Lin Mo climbed ashore.

"If you're afraid of the dark, light the torches on both sides," Zhao Wushi reminded him.

Lin Mo immediately exchanged torches from the system shop and lit the torches on both sides.

Pairs of granite columns appear on the left and right, stretching into the darkness in the distance.

The statues sit on stone thrones between the pillars, their backs to the wall, with huge stone coffins placed behind them.

"This is..." Lin Mo narrowed his eyes. "Could it be that the souls of the generals in the system are all stored here?" he boldly speculated.

“That’s right!” Zhao Wushi told him. “Keep moving forward and find the answer!”

Lin Mo led the way, weaving through the passageway between the stone pillars, while Xiang Yu followed silently behind.

They walked among the stone coffins of countless unknown souls, their footsteps echoing throughout the vast temple.

Lin Mo felt the souls of these generals watching them. The statues on the tightly closed stone coffins were carved with their faces in life, while huge stone carvings of ferocious beasts were curled up at his feet.

They sat side by side, gazing into the eternal darkness with eyes that could no longer see.

The movements of the living seemed to have startled them, and dark shadows shifted and moved across the walls.

Lin Mo also noticed that each of these stone statues had a pure steel longsword placed on its knee.

Zhao Wushi told him that this was deliberately done by the group of people who called themselves gods.

These longswords possess the special power to suppress spirits, which is done to ensure that these vengeful spirits are sealed in the temple and prevented from wreaking havoc in the mortal realm.

However, even the longswords made of pure steel have rusted away in this dark and mysterious seabed, and the places where the swords were originally placed are now unrecognizable.

Lin Mo couldn't help but ask himself, did this mean that those longswords were destroyed by the resentment of the ghosts?

He did not stop, but silently continued forward, as the temple continued to extend forward and disappear into the darkness.

After walking for a long time, a spiral staircase appeared before them.

Looking down, large stones were embedded in the curved wall, forming a staircase that spiraled downwards, as dark as a stairway to hell. Something was crawling out of the darkness, emerging from the depths of the underworld…

Upon seeing this, even Xiang Yu couldn't help but tremble.

I adjusted my breathing, found the heavy iron ring on the door, and pulled hard. The door resisted for a while before slowly opening inward, but the creaking sound it made was frighteningly loud.

To their surprise, the room deep underground was brightly lit.

The room was at least two hundred feet high, and upon entering, one immediately felt a sense of spacious oppression. Several even larger stone statues stood on the east side of the room, with a marble altar in the very center.

"Holy crap, this..." Lin Mo exclaimed in astonishment.

~~~
Meanwhile, in another room of the temple.
"...We have guests. Two? Or three?"
"Yes! Each being is emitting different emotional fluctuations... One of them seems to have a strong aura that rivals that of a god, and it's coming for us."
“Let me deal with these annoying minions!” one of the voices said. “You’re a little injured, and if you can’t win, it will be a disgrace to God!”
"You!" the other man gritted his teeth!
"Don't waste your breath!" the third voice said. "Among these three, one is very strong. Be extremely careful!"
"Could it be him?" the first voice asked. "Zhao Wushi?"
"The auras are very similar, but... there seems to be some difference!"
"He ran right into our trap?" the second voice exclaimed in surprise. "Catch him! That would be a great achievement!"
"It's too early to say that!" the third voice said. "Our master hasn't woken up yet. Given that guy's previous strength, the outcome is uncertain!"
"Hmph, don't boost others' morale while diminishing your own!" the second voice said. "His body was torn into countless pieces by his master long ago. If it weren't for the help of a traitor, he would have been annihilated, body and soul!"
“Hey, the person I was talking about who’s really strong isn’t Zhao Wushi!” a third voice responded. “It’s him!”
"Him?" The other two voices were shocked.
"Yes, it's him!"
"Should we wake the master sooner?" the first voice suggested. "After all, with him around, we..."
"No need, you two go and meet him first!" the third voice said. "After all, that person doesn't have his own body! But be very careful, don't be careless!"
"Okay!" the second voice replied. "Let's go then!"
As soon as he finished speaking, two dark figures flashed by and disappeared without a trace!
