Upon seeing these two uninvited guests, one of the guards frowned slightly, his spear lowering gently and pointing to the ground. "Who is he?"
"BUG host!" Mo Qing exclaimed. "Get out of the way, I need to take him to see Boss Pu!"
Upon hearing this, the guard lifted the tent flap and gestured for Lin Mo and Mo Qing to enter.
The tent was filled with intense heat and swirling smoke, making it feel like a fairyland. At each of the four corners stood a charcoal basket, its embers glowing softly and warmly, casting a gentle red light that brought a touch of warmth to the dim space.
The ground was covered with soft animal hides, like a natural carpet.
Lin Mo's heart was as cold as winter. Being here, loneliness and helplessness surged into his heart like a tide.
He waited quietly for Boss Pu to appear, the ruthless hunter who specialized in hunting down bug hosts.
His eyes gradually adjusted to the surrounding red smoke, and through the haze, he saw six figures in the smoke. However, they all seemed to be immersed in their own worlds and oblivious to his presence.
A gray-haired man wearing a tattered red and black cloak sat cross-legged on a cushion, playing the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) and singing.
A short but unusually stout figure sat on a stool beside the brazier. He was intently devouring a skewer of fragrant roasted chicken, the taste of which seemed to be the most exquisite pleasure of his life.
Hot grease dripped down his chin and into his thick white beard, but he was oblivious and continued to laugh merrily.
His thick arms were encircled by heavy gold bands carved with mysterious runes, and he was clad in heavy black ring armor.
A few feet away, a tall, thin man stared intently at a map in his hands, his brow furrowed. He wore a leather jacket inlaid with bronze scales, and a massive two-handed sword slung across his back, its scabbard crafted from exquisite leather. The man was as muscular as a spear, his beard neatly shaved, but his head was completely bald.
He had a strong, straight nose and deep-set gray eyes; if he had ears, he might be considered handsome. Unfortunately, he didn't have ears.
Lin Mo couldn't tell whether it was due to frost or the ravages of war, but the man's head appeared somewhat unbalanced, both narrow and pointed.
The powerful aura they exuded made Lin Mo instantly realize that their strength far surpassed that of Mo Qing.
However, Lin Mo couldn't quite tell which one of them was Boss Pu!
As the last melody faded away, the bald, earless man looked up from the map, glaring fiercely at Mo Qing and Lin Mo. "Who is this?" he said. "He looks like a host."
“That’s right, he’s my target this time!” Mo Qing replied, “A host who has already reached the third stage!”
"Then why did you bring him here? Why not just kill him?"
Mo Qing took a deep breath and calmly replied, "He chose the path of repentance. It was he who personally beheaded the Venerable Master of Xuanhua Palace."
Upon hearing this, Lin Mo was jolted. He realized that these people actually knew He Xiao's true identity perfectly well.
"Just this kid?" The earless man frowned, clearly angry and dissatisfied with Mo Qing's words. "That guy should have been my prey. Kid, what's your name?"
"My name is Lin Mo!" Lin Mo said, "Sir!"
"Sir?" The fat man with a full beard burst into maniacal laughter, his booming voice causing the chicken nuggets around him to jump. He waved his enormous hand, casually wiping his mouth as if savoring some indescribable pleasure.
"This kid is a real character! I bet he wants to kneel down before us!"
The fat man's laughter echoed in Lin Mo's ears. He grinned at Lin Mo, revealing a row of uneven teeth. While casually wiping the grease off his fingers on his riding breeches, he said, "Kid, shut your stinking mouth. Turn around, the person you're looking for is right behind you."
The singer stood up and said, "I'm Pu Hang, welcome, buddy!"
Lin Mo was so shocked that he couldn't speak for a long time. After a long while, he finally managed to regain his composure: "What...did you call me?"
“Hey buddy!” Pu Hang laughed. “Don’t be too surprised. I’m also from Earth, and I’m from Hangzhou just like you.”
Lin Mo: "..."
"You fucking came from Hangzhou, Earth?"
"We're from the same hometown? I'm totally dumbfounded!"
