Chapter 353 Casting a long line to catch a big fish!

A fierce wind swept in from the east, wild and merciless, like a ferocious beast shaking the heavy iron cage with its sharp teeth, causing it to sway precariously.

A biting wind raged around the camp, like an invisible hand, wantonly manipulating the air currents on the ice, bringing gusts of bone-chilling cold. Zhao Zhilan squatted in the cage, feeling her whole body trembling uncontrollably, as if even her bones were freezing and cracking.

The sky hung low, like a heavy gray slate, so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.

The sun was obscured by thick clouds, leaving only a faint patch of light, like a star about to go out on the horizon, unable to dispel the dark and cold scene.

In the distance, thousands of campfires flickered precariously, as if they might be extinguished at any moment by the fierce wind. The firelight shone faintly in the darkness, but compared to the vast and chilling scene, it seemed so small and powerless, as if it could be swallowed up by the raging cold wind at any moment.

A gloomy day.

As the wind lashed against the cage again, Zhao Zhilan leaned against the iron cage, pressing herself tightly against it.

She stared straight down at her feet, the ground obscured by shadows, appearing like a bottomless abyss, sending chills down her spine.

“Death is like a bottomless pit,” she mused. “Will these self-proclaimed servants of God kill me? Will they skin me alive?”

"Or perhaps, they will use even more cruel methods to forcibly extract my soul from my body, and then..."

"Like other disciples of Xuanhua Palace, they sacrificed themselves in order to summon the gods and Buddhas to descend!"

Recalling this morning when she was pulled from that cold, cramped ice cellar, her heart was filled with unease and fear. That ice cellar was like a dog cage, binding her tightly inside, unable to move.

For four days, she could only huddle in that cramped space, enduring the torment of cold and loneliness.

Then, they used iron chains to escort Zhao Zhilan back to the largest tent and to Boss Pu's place.

"How is it? Can it hear us?" Boss Pu asked.

“Her strength is very weak,” a divine servant replied. “To be honest, right now she’s just a pure beast!”

“I don’t want to hear speculation,” Boss Pu said unhappily. “I want the truth!”

"I don't understand!" the servant of the gods changed his tune, "Master Zhou made such a judgment."

“Master Zhou has lived too long,” Boss Pu shook his head. “His wisdom has dimmed, just like his eyes.”

“Indeed!” said another servant of the gods. “A blind man with a necklace isn’t thinking straight either!”

"But he was one of the oldest servants of the gods!"

“Of course I remember that!” said Master Pu. “Since it can’t communicate with us, let’s proceed with the ritual directly. Mo Qing, go find a stronger vessel, separate its soul, and put it into a new vessel.”

His brow furrowed, revealing a hint of doubt. He hesitated for a moment before slowly speaking, "Boss Pu, can these vessels we have really withstand the immense power they possess?"

"What, do you care whether it lives or dies?" Mo Qing said coldly.

“I’m not worried about its life or death,” the servant said. “However, if the possession fails, it would be a waste of a vessel, which would be a loss!”

However, Boss Pu did not seem to be swayed by his worries. He smiled slightly, his eyes gleaming with wisdom: "You don't need to worry too much. I know what I'm doing. As long as we act cautiously, we will definitely be able to complete the ceremony successfully."

Seeing this, the servant of the god said nothing more, nodded silently, and turned to leave.

Upon seeing this, Zhao Zhilan felt as if her heart was being stirred up by a storm, her emotions surging and unable to find peace.

"Does this mean I have to abandon this body again, extract my soul, and search for another host?" she murmured to herself, her voice revealing undisguised worry and struggle.

Her thoughts drifted back to the ancient legend she had heard from Elder Gu of Xuanhua Palace.

If a soul is possessing a beast's body for the first time, there is still a glimmer of hope that it can return to its original body after being separated from it.

However, if the second possession is to a human, the soul will suffer irreparable damage, forever losing the possibility of performing the separation ritual and never being able to return to its original body.

unless...

She possesses a power known as "divine power"!

Out of instinct, she let out a mournful wail through the iron cage.

Unexpectedly, this action caught Boss Pu's attention. "Wait!" he said, "What is it doing?"

"Boss Pu, what are you doing?" a servant asked, puzzled.

"This wolf cub reacted strongly after hearing what we said!" Boss Pu explained, "It's scared...it's scared!"

Zhao Zhilan was in an iron cage, and she was immersed in deep fear and despair. But when Boss Pu's voice rang out, she suddenly realized that her screams might have attracted attention.

She immediately stopped wailing, but her heart felt as if a huge boulder was pressing down on it, making it hard to breathe.

Pu Laoda narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Zhao Zhilan, trying to read more emotions from her wolfish eyes. He slowly approached, each step seemingly carrying a heavy sense of oppression, causing Zhao Zhilan's heart to race.

"This little wolf cub seems to understand us," Boss Pu muttered to himself, a hint of excitement in his eyes. He reached out to touch Zhao Zhilan's head, but she quickly pulled away.

However, this action only strengthened Boss Pu's suspicions.

"It...it can actually hear!" Boss Pu exclaimed in astonishment, his voice filled with disbelief. He stared intently at Zhao Zhilan inside the iron cage, his sharp eyes seeming to pierce through the bars and into her very soul. "Wolf cub, you're a follower of the Faceless God, aren't you?"
