Chapter 355 The Shell!

"Damn it, this cursed place used to be the territory of the Faceless God!" Lin Mo cursed inwardly, his brows furrowed. He couldn't determine the identity and intentions of the people inside the cave, which made him extremely uneasy.

He wasn't afraid of the other party; after all, with his current abilities, even the divine servant was not to be feared.

However, he was carrying Zhao Zhilan on his back at the moment, and if they started fighting, he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't accidentally hurt her.

Furthermore, if possible, he does not want to clash with other servants of God or followers of the Faceless God.

Just then, a man's voice suddenly rang out: "Come in and warm up," he warmly invited, "the stones here are enough to shelter us all from the rain."

Upon hearing that familiar voice, Lin Mo felt a surge of inexplicable surprise: "Holy crap, that voice..." he muttered to himself, trying to recall the source of the voice, "Why does it sound so familiar?"

He walked closer and was instantly stunned by the man in front of him: "It's you!" he exclaimed in surprise, his eyes filled with disbelief.

The man turned his head, looked at Lin Mo, and raised an eyebrow: "Hehe, what, you know me?" His tone was slightly mocking.

Lin Mo's eyes widened as he stared at the face that looked so much like He Xiao's. His surprise deepened: "Damn it, you don't recognize me?" He almost jumped up. "Brother He, have you lost your memory?"

However, the man who looked remarkably like He Xiao calmly got up and walked towards them with a smile. He shared his food and poured wine from his flask, drinking with them.

Throughout the entire process, he remained calm and composed, seemingly unconcerned about Lin Mo's surprise and confusion.

"Here, try this hot wine, it will surely warm you up," the man said softly, his voice carrying an indescribable warmth.

Lin Mo stared at the figure before him, his heart filled with a surging tide of doubt.

He was certain that the owner of this figure was once He Xiao.

That cloak was the one He Xiaosheng wore before he died, and it still bore some traces of time.

But the He Xiao before me seems completely different from the one I used to know.

An unusual light flickered in his eyes, as if he were possessed by another power.

Could it be that another faceless god has descended into He Xiao's body?

The thought flashed through Lin Mo's mind, making him feel a strange chill.

Lin Mo took a deep breath, gently put Zhao Zhilan down, and settled her aside.

He turned around, took the hot wine He Xiao handed him, and drank it all in one gulp.

The warm wine went down his throat, and warmth instantly spread throughout his body, dispelling the chill from Lin Mo's body.

He put down his wine glass, looked directly into He Xiao's eyes, and asked bluntly, "Just how far is this place from the mortal realm?"

Upon hearing this, He Xiao burst into laughter, his laughter carrying an enigmatic quality.

"For birds that can fly, it may be just a short journey. But for us mortals, it is an insurmountable chasm," he said calmly, a profound light shining in his eyes.

"How difficult is it?" Lin Mo asked again.

The man gently drew a dagger from his waist and began sharpening a wooden stick, as if recounting a long-forgotten memory.

"If it were still the era when the master ruled, even a beautiful young woman could wear pretty clothes and travel freely along wide avenues without worrying about any disturbances. The world back then was so peaceful and harmonious."

He paused, then continued, "Back then, every manor and inn opened its doors to the world with warmth, the fireplaces glowed with cozy light, and food was offered to passersby without reservation. But now, everything has changed."

Things are different now; the nights are growing colder, and all the doors are closed.

“Even more terrifying is that the servants of those evil gods now occupy the Great Road. They roam everywhere, trying to wipe out all the pilgrims.” A flash of anger crossed the man's eyes as he said this.

Upon hearing this, Lin Mo couldn't help but gasp. "Pilgrim? Yet another new term!"

Furthermore, the master he speaks of must be the Faceless God!

"Hehe, you guessed right, I am the servant of the Faceless God!" the man laughed. "As for you, why are you carrying the body of a master who once descended upon this place?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Mo was shocked. "Holy crap, how the hell did you know?"
