Chapter 379 A Fog of Mystery!

When Lin Mo awoke from his slumber, he was surprised to find himself not in the familiar illusory realm, but in a mysterious temple.

Suddenly, a kind and deep voice echoed in the air, gently calling his name: "Lin Mo!"

Lin Mo rubbed his still blurry eyes, trying to clear the fog and see more clearly. He looked around, trying to find the source of the sound.

He looked in the direction of the sound and saw a tall figure standing quietly not far away.

The man was dressed in a pure white robe, and beneath the hood, his face was shrouded in a soft yet eerie white light, obscuring his features and giving him an air of otherworldly grace.

A strange sense of awe welled up in Lin Mo's heart, and he couldn't help but ask, "Who are you? Where am I?"

"A sanctuary that can only be reached by those who stand at the crossroads of fate."

At this moment, Lin Mo suddenly realized that all around him was black and white, with no color at all.

"Am I dead...? A divergence of fate? What does that mean?" Lin Mo asked. "Or... are you also an existence like Zhao Wushi?"

Lin Mo was all too familiar with this black-and-white world.

“Death is not entirely unfamiliar to you; it has already visited you once.” The voice was deep and resonant, as if it had traversed endless time and space to reach Lin Mo’s ears. “However, that was merely the shattering of your physical body; your soul still roams freely.”

Lin Mo gazed at the endless darkness before him, his doubts deepening. "So... is this the legendary hell? The hell of endless reincarnation from myths and legends?"

"There is no paradise prepared specifically for the good, nor is there a hell set up specifically for the wicked." The voice spoke slowly, as if with a mysterious rhythm, "There is only a lost paradise where the living suffer from loss, and a peaceful final resting place for the dead. Life and death are like the alternation of day and night, endlessly revolving."

Lin Mo frowned, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound in the darkness. "Paradise Lost?"

"Tell me, Lin Mo." The voice rang out again, with a hint of expectation, "What is the most slumbering, most authentic desire in the abyss of your soul? Do not hide it, do not pretend, just speak the truest voice of your heart."

"Desire, mine?"

"Does being alive count?" Lin Mo thought to himself. "In the end, ever since I was brought to that world, I've been fighting for survival from beginning to end!"

Suddenly, Su Qing'er's image flashed into his mind, followed by Sun Ruoxi, Zhao Zhilan, and Zhao Yue'er...

Each of them left a deep mark on his life.

Thinking of them, Lin Mo replied, "I want to protect the people I care about. I don't want to see my loved ones die next to me again."

Who is your closest person? Your lover?

"Yes!" Lin Mo's answer was firm and resolute.

The man shook his head. "What about your subordinates? Xu Chu? Bai Qi? Xiang Yu?"

Lin Mo paused slightly, his gaze deepening. "They..." He hesitated for a moment, as if searching for the right words, "They are my brothers who fought alongside me, a part of my life."

"Then who is your closest relative? I want to hear the voice of your truest soul..."

"I have so many people close to me, so many!" Lin Mo sighed. "I'm carrying too much on my shoulders!"

The man listened quietly, a hint of understanding flashing in his eyes. "Come back when you can truly face the truth in your heart and honestly accept everyone and everything you deeply love..."

Suddenly, Lin Mo felt a strange, deathly white light engulf his surroundings. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself sleeping on a thatched floor filled with the stench of urine. The walls were pale red, revealing a patch of saltpeter. There was a gray door made of scrap wood, about four feet thick, with iron nails hammered into it.

This is a prison... How did I end up in a place like this?

Oh, right! When we were in the far north…

I encountered a giant rat...

They encountered Pu Hang and others...

They sacrificed their own souls to summon a time-traveling pioneer who called himself a god...

But why am I in prison?

For some reason, whenever he recalls these things, he gets a splitting headache.

What exactly happened next?

Is Zhao Zhilan, who is possessed by the giant wolf, safe?

He struggled to prop himself up, his throat hoarse from the long silence, but he still shouted as loudly as he could: "Is anyone there? There's still someone alive here! Someone come out!"

"Hey newbie, what's your name? I was sleeping soundly! This godforsaken place, I finally get to enjoy a good drink in my dreams, and now I'm locked up here and disturbed. Just accept your fate! These guys are so cunning and treacherous, they always find your weakness and make you wish you were dead!"

I haven't had a drink in ages...

Torture me with such insidious methods, you might as well just kill me outright!

That sound?

Humans?

Although they were separated into different cells, Lin Mo could not see the person's face, but based on the voice alone, he was certain that it was someone he had known before.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"If there's anything you're not used to, feel free to ask me! I'm a seasoned veteran here, hahaha!" His voice revealed a sense of unbridled freedom and boldness, as if it drifted from the depths of a distant prison.

"That's it, that's it."

Lin Mo will never forget that voice in his lifetime.

"Tomon!" he called out almost instinctively, his voice filled with excitement and disbelief.
