Chapter 392 Conspiracy?

Upon hearing this, the carpenter's face turned even paler. He knew he was truly in deep trouble this time. The archer beside him, though also feeling some reluctance, considered the injury he had suffered unjustly and acquiesced to the punishment.

He stood up. "That's enough. Take the rest back to the dungeon. I'll deal with them tomorrow." He turned and waved to Lin Mo. "Your Highness, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."

This guy, though a bit brutal, is also very fair! Lin Mo thought to himself.

"Your Highness, may I ask what brings you here?" Huo Cheng continued to ask.

"Come find my wife!"

Huo Cheng wasn't surprised by Lin Mo's answer. He stared at Lin Mo for a long time before replying, "I will let you take your princess away, but my sister..."

"What?" Lin Mo exclaimed in surprise, "It's that simple?"

Meanwhile, they only allowed Sun Ruoxi to be taken away?

Huo Churan won't let me take her away?

"No!" Lin Mo refused after only a few seconds of thought. "They are all my wives. I can't let Chu Ran stay here!"

"She's my sister too!" Huo Cheng said. "Your Highness, do you think you've taken good care of my sister?"

These words left Lin Mo with mixed feelings.

"Hmph!" Huo Cheng snorted heavily. "After she married you, did she have a single good day? How did you treat her in the beginning?"

Lin Mo frowned.

Initially, because she was Huo Minggao's daughter, he directly banished Huo Churan to the cold palace.

"Your Highness, I've come to ask you, where have you been for these past three years? Why have you disappeared without a trace?" Huo Cheng continued, "Do you know what Chu Ran went through during your absence?"

Lin Mo was taken aback for a moment, "I...I will treat her well from now on!"

"In the future?" Huo Cheng's voice was like a whip. "Hmph, I won't let you take my sister away, absolutely not! God, why did I say all this to you? I should have delivered your message to His Majesty and sent you back to the capital!"

“You won’t!” Lin Mo said.

It's clear that Huo Cheng isn't as cunning and ruthless as his father.

Huo Cheng frowned. "Don't push your luck!" he said. "If you don't want to resolve this peacefully, then let's fight! I want to see just how capable your army really is!"

After saying that, Huo Cheng strode away.

The crowd dispersed, and the crows returned to continue their feast.

Lin Mo stood still.

"Save one first." He silently thought to himself, weighing every possible option. "Huo Cheng's anxious expression clearly shows his concern for his sister. Chu Ran, she should be able to hold on for a while longer."

“Your Highness, let me take you to your Queen!” Haihan’s voice was as gentle as a spring breeze, with a hint of barely perceptible cunning. “However, it’s quite a walk!”

Lin Mo nodded slightly, without turning around, and simply asked, "Inside Wuzhong City, right?"

"Exactly."

Lin Mo turned around, his back to Hai Han, and said in a firm and decisive voice, "Lei Zhen, come here."

The boy, leading two fine horses, trotted quickly through the crowd, his face filled with awe and loyalty towards Lin Mo. He stopped in front of Lin Mo, gripping the reins tightly, awaiting Lin Mo's instructions.

Lei Zhen's eyes revealed a hint of caution, as if he were asking a question or giving a suggestion.

Lin Mo frowned slightly, noticing Hai Han's subtle change in expression. "Do you think we should stay here?" he asked softly, trying to glean more information from the other's reaction.

"That would be best, sir!" Lei Zhen said.

"Alright, go to the stables by the east gate and ask the stableman if there's an inn where we can stay the night."

"Yes, sir!"

"Oh? You're not in a hurry to see your wife?" Haihan asked.

"Yes, if there's nothing else, please leave!" Lin Mo said.

After saying that, Lin Mo turned and left with Lei Zhen.

As Lei Zhen walked, he kept his eyes on the ground, occasionally kicking a stone. "Sir, don't you find this suspicious?" he asked. "Why is this Huo Cheng being so kind? You know, you... you overthrew his entire family!"

This child may be tongue-tied, but he's not stupid. Lin Mo thought to himself.

"What do you think?" he asked Lei Zhen.

"My lord, I feel that he might be trying to ascertain your true strength before..."

Lin Mo frowned. "This is the closest guess to the answer!"

After all, Lin Mo had created too many miracles before...

With only a hundred or so followers, they were able to successfully wipe out bandits in Sichuan...

He went to Wei Maozhen's banquet alone, and then turned the tables and killed him!

Lin Mo didn't answer directly, but stopped. "The East Gate is over there. Wait for me there."

Let him try whatever tricks he wants!
