Suddenly the officer spotted the little boy, so he fought his way through to him, shook the boy violently, and yelled, "Boy!" in his usual way.
"Hurry up and leave! There's no hope here, we've lost! Save as many children as you can, and get them out of here! Go now!" "How do we get out?" the little boy asked.
"Go through the secret door!" he shouted, "below the barn!" Before he finished speaking, he immediately drew his sword and plunged back into the battle.
The little boy grabbed the crying little girl's arm. "He told us to go!" he shouted. "Out of the barn!"
The two then ran.
"Father!" the little girl suddenly cried out. She found her father lying on the ground, his calf pierced by a gun, bleeding profusely.
His injuries were too severe for him to move.
"Run! Get out of here!" the little girl's father managed to utter.
The little boy pulled hard, but the little girl refused to leave and instead sat down next to her father and cried.
He tried once, but hitting her was useless, so the little boy had to drag her with his right hand and hold the short sword with his left.
The night ahead was a dark red; the barn was on fire, the little boy thought.
The fire was spreading in all directions from a torch that had fallen on a pile of straw, and he could hear the pitiful cries of the livestock trapped inside.
A Great Xia soldier ran out of the barn, shouting, "Come in quickly! Those who don't want to leave, don't bother with them!"
The Xia soldiers were referring to the little girl who was crying.
Hearing this, the little boy became even more stubborn and pulled the sobbing little girl up with even more force. The Xia soldier had no choice but to run over, pick up the girl, and hoist her onto his shoulder. "Run!"
Rushing into the barn was like entering a furnace. Thick smoke filled the air, and the distant walls, from floor to roof, were engulfed in flames. Their donkeys and horses were braying and kicking wildly.
The hidden door was within reach, yet the fire spread extremely quickly, devouring the rotten wood and dry grass at an unbelievable pace.
“The passage is very narrow,” the Xia soldier shouted. “Girl, you either get off and walk by yourself, or stay here and wait to die. I can’t carry you.”
Out of fear, the young girl cried even louder, wanting to return to her mother.
So... she broke free from the Xia soldiers' grasp and ran desperately out of the granary.
Just then, several Doth warriors came running at the sound, and the little girl bumped into one of them.
The Dos warriors let out a strange cry, then burst into laughter.
Although the soldiers of the Great Xia could not understand what the other side was saying, they could tell what was going to happen from their eyes.
"You won't even spare such a young girl?" the Great Xia soldier roared angrily. "Damn scum, I'll kill you all!"
However, how could he possibly defeat several tall and strong Dossians by himself?
The Xia soldier's opponent immediately swung his sword in an arc. The blade sliced into the Xia soldier's waist, slicing him open from spine to abdomen, blood splattering everywhere.
The loser struggled and died tragically, while the winner grabbed the little girl and let out a lewd laugh.
The little boy stood there, sobbing uncontrollably, "King of Shu, when will you come?!"
Just as the Dos soldiers were about to unleash their lust, a horse neighed, and with that sound, a figure as swift as a blur leaped into the house.
Doss's eyes narrowed, and he was about to turn around.
But the next instant, a whooshing sound suddenly rang out!
A halberd cleaved through the sky with the speed of a dragon, leaving only a blur before piercing the heart of a Doss soldier!
Blood gushed out, the Doss soldier's pupils dilated, his body swayed, and he collapsed to the ground!
The little boy looked up instinctively and saw a tall man in warrior's armor standing in front of him.
He saw the man's eyes, a color darker and deeper than anyone else's.
The man fixed his gaze on the other Doth warriors and uttered a few words in a voice as calm as shattering ice: "Doth people, kill without mercy!"
These words sent a shiver down the spines of even the Doth warriors who were used to killing.
The sound was like the death knell from the Grim Reaper in purgatory, chilling to the bone.
The general raised his Sky-Piercing Halberd, strode forward, and charged towards the Dos warriors.
The Dos warrior regained some courage, roared loudly, gripped his scimitar tightly, and swung it wildly with all his might.
The Xia general remained calm and composed.
With a clang, the scimitar shattered.
The Dos warrior knelt down as the Skybreaker Halberd pierced his throat, killing him instantly.
The Great Xia general kept wielding his Sky-Piercing Halberd, killing with every step, and in an instant, he had overthrown all the Dos soldiers in the granary.
This sudden turn of events startled even the little boy. He never expected someone to suddenly enter and be so incredibly brave, killing seven Doth warriors in an instant!
This person's clothing was completely unlike that of the city's garrison.
"Thank you for saving me! You...are you the King of Shu?"
The general looked at the little boy expressionlessly, then said calmly, "You are not of this kind, I will not kill you!"
Having said that, the general, carrying his Heaven-Piercing Halberd, turned and walked out of the granary...
"He is a subordinate of the King of Shu!" the little boy firmly believed. "The King of Shu has really come to save us!"
After speaking, the little boy stepped forward, picked up the little girl, and hugged her tightly...
~~~
Outside the barn.
Three hundred Hu-style horse archers are facing off against invading Dos warriors.
The sudden appearance of horse archers caught the Doth warriors off guard. At first, the Doth warriors thought they could fight them.
