Chapter 5: Enough is enough! Kill them all!

The carriages and horses continued their journey.

Suddenly, a heavy rain began to fall, and the raindrops immediately gathered into streams that flowed down from behind his cloak.

Lin Mo was soaked to the bone by the rain. "Is the heavens weeping for me?" he couldn't help but think. "Hmph, the day I return to the capital will be the day you fall from the throne."

After walking for a long time, they arrived at the south gate of the capital.

The rain intensified, stinging Lin Mo's eyes and crashing against the ground.

A black, turbid torrent cascaded down the hills. Just then, Qiao Shan called out, "Your Highness!" His hoarse voice was filled with alertness. In the blink of an eye, the streets were teeming with Great Xia soldiers.

Lin Mo noticed that they wore leather jackets over armor, iron gloves, and knee pads, and wore steel helmets decorated with black tigers. Their rain-soaked cloaks clung tightly to their backs.

He didn't have time to count them, but there were at least thirty of them, lined up on foot, blocking his way, each holding a longsword and an iron spear.

"Behind us!" he heard Qiao Shan shout. He turned his horse around and found that there were more people behind them, cutting off their retreat.

Qiao Shan's sword rang out with a sharp clang. "Who dares block my way?"

"Is there a dog barking?" the other team leader said.

Lin Mo could see the rain streaming down his face; this man was Hu Jun, one of Li Hu's subordinates.

Qiao Shan cautiously spurred his horse forward. "Hu Jun, what do you mean by this? This is the King of Shu of the Great Xia."

"Haha, did you hear that? He really thinks he's the King of Shu!" The mud blurred the sound of the chestnut horse's hooves. The soldiers in front of him were divided into two rows, and Hu Jun, clad in black helmet and armor, roared arrogantly. "To be honest, I don't know who he is!"

"Hu Jun, are you crazy?" Qiao Shan said. "Get out of the way, we're heading to Shu. What exactly do you want?"

“He knows exactly what he’s doing!” Lin Mo said calmly.

Hu Jun smiled and said, "That's true. I'm here to oversee His Majesty's orders. Young General, you should still remember, His Majesty's decree is for you to go to Shu alone."

And now, I see at least twenty followers following you.

Lin Mo clenched his fist. "I remember it very clearly." He suppressed his anger and said, "But these are all servants of my household, not soldiers of the Great Xia. They all volunteered to come with me to Shu!"

"Yes, can't we go to Shu if we want to? Do we need His Majesty's permission to leave the capital?" a servant shouted.

"I don't care about servants! His Majesty's decree is for you alone, and that means you alone!" Hu Jun said contemptuously. "Oh, of course. Considering we were once officials in the same court, this general allows you to bring your elderly mother along."

Upon hearing this, Hu Jun's men burst into laughter, a laugh that was unbearable to watch.

"Hu Jun..." Lin Mo roared angrily, then spurred his horse forward. "Don't push your luck!"

"It seems the young general intends to defy the imperial decree? In that case, I'll have no choice but to break your arms and legs and hand you over to His Majesty for punishment!"

Hu Jun drew his longsword from its sheath. "Draw your sword, Lin Mo. Although I wish I could kill you right now, I don't like people saying I'm taking advantage of you."

He then gave the other servants of the Lin family a cold and contemptuous look. "I am acting under orders. If the rest of you don't want to die, get out of here!"

“Scum, we’re not cowards!” Qiao Shan roared.

Hu Jun's men also drew their weapons, so Lin Mo now had twenty against one hundred.

Nearby residents watched from behind doors and windows, but no one intended to interfere.

Lin Mo's men all rode horses, while Hu Jun's men, except for Hu Jun himself, all walked.

Hu Jun pointed at Lin Mo and roared at his men, "No one is allowed to kill the Prince of Shu! As for the others, kill them without mercy!"

"Yes, General."

"Kill my men?" Lin Moshen sneered, then gripped his longsword and charged forward.

The enemy surrounded them from all sides.

Lin Mo trampled one of the men to the ground and swung his sword fiercely at the ghostly black-cloaked figures who were all dodging around him. Qiao Shan spurred his horse forward, and the steel horseshoes struck a soldier squarely in the face, producing a nauseating cracking sound.

Lin Mo's other subordinate cursed loudly as he was dragged off his horse and swords rained down upon him.

Although the Lin family's servants were brave and skilled in battle, their numerical disadvantage quickly put them at a disadvantage.

Lin Mo spurred his horse and galloped towards Hu Jun, slashing at Hu Jun's head with his sword. Hu Jun immediately raised his sword to block, and the impact of the two swords clashed made him grit his teeth.

The balance of power quickly shifted in Hu Jun's favor.

Another servant's helmet was cleaved open, and the man staggered to his knees, blood streaming down his face.

Qiao Shan was slashing at the hands that were grabbing his belt when a spear pierced his abdomen.

"Qiao Shan!" Lin Mo shouted. He wanted to go and help, but Hu Jun held him back.

I need to use the cheat code right now!

Having made up his mind, Lin Mo swung his sword fiercely, then spurred his horse and fled.

If you're going to use it, you have to find a deserted alley, otherwise you'll definitely be mistaken for a monster.

Hu Jun is blocking my way today; he definitely won't let me off easily.

Therefore, they will definitely pursue them relentlessly!

Sure enough, as soon as he saw Lin Mo run away, Hu Jun shouted, "Forget about them, chase after him!"

Lin Mo rode his warhorse, winding his way through the streets, and soon arrived at a secluded alley.

After riding for a while longer, we finally reached a dead end.

The sound of horses' hooves came from behind, and it was believed that Hu Jun and his men would catch up soon.

Without further ado, I decisively opened the system panel and found the "Soldier" section of the points mall.
