Chapter 90 Bai Qi, don't force me to take away your military power!

Not far away, the battering ram lay forgotten on the muddy ground, its entourage either fleeing or turning to fight.

Lin Mo slashed down a Crimson Flame Army archer with a single sword strike, cleanly severing a Doss man's arm from shoulder to armpit, and then grazed a swordfish helmet with another blow.

He stopped in front of the battering ram.

But Xu Chu leaped past him. At this moment, he was like a death messenger from hell. Wherever his axe struck, hands were broken, heads were severed, and shields were shattered.

"Xu Chu, come to my side!" Lin Mo shouted.

Upon hearing this, the latter quickly moved closer.

"What's going on? Are they escaping?" Lin Mo asked in surprise.

Xu Chu glanced around and saw that it was indeed the case; the enemy army was in disarray.

Lin Mo looked around, but couldn't find Bai Qi anywhere.

Not only that, but even Qin Zhixing was not seen.

Not to mention the Tang Dynasty's Xuanjia heavy cavalry and the Hu-style archer cavalry.

"What the hell is going on?" Lin Mo was speechless.

Suddenly, an arrow struck the helmet with a "click," missing the eyeball by only an inch.

He was startled and nearly fell over.

You can't just stand still like a wooden stake; that's like drawing a target on your breastplate!

So Lin Mo led his men through the scattered corpses.

While the surroundings were still ablaze, Xu Chu suddenly shouted, "Great Xia is mighty!"

"Great Xia is mighty!"

His men shouted in unison, some even yelling, "Long live Lin Mo! Long live Lin Mo!"

Through the padded, heavy steel helmets came painful screams, the thirsty crackling of flames, the trembling of battle horns, and the resounding clang of bronze trumpets. Fire was everywhere.

A loud bang echoed through the passage, like a house collapsing or a city wall being breached.

Immediately afterwards, a series of footsteps could be heard.

Are these our troops or the enemy? The smoke was thick, making it impossible to tell. The wedge-shaped formation had fallen apart, everyone fighting their own battle.

"My lord, we should retreat!" Xu Chu suggested.

"Yes!" Lin Mo nodded.

The longsword in his hand grew heavier and heavier. Only a few people remained around him; the rest were either dead or had scattered.

Many enemies crawled on the ground in a sorry state, wounded and covered in blood, most of them on the verge of death.

Lin Mo led his small team through them, delivering a swift death to those who could still stand.

The war was confined to the slits of the eyes; those Doth warriors who did not flee would meet their demise.

They became so small, so terrified.

I really won; at least I held off this attack.

"Great Xia is mighty!" he roared, unleashing a bloodbath. His arms, down to his elbows, turned crimson, gleaming in the moonlight. He stood upright, brandishing his longsword at the stars, as the crowd roared, "Long live Lin Mo! Long live the King of Shu!"

Lin Mo was drunk.

This must be what battle mania looks like.

Time becomes ambiguous, slows down, and eventually stops. The past and the future disappear together, leaving only the present moment, while fear, thought, and even the body cease to exist.

"You can't feel the pain of your wounds, the weight of your armor, or the sweat trickling into your eyes. In fact, you no longer feel, no longer think, no longer yourself; there is only battle, only opponents, one, the next, and the next."

They were exhausted and afraid, while you were full of energy. Even though death was nearby, what fear did you have of their slow swords? You danced and sang, laughing heartily.

Battle fever. I am Lin Mo, the King of Shu, my system is Tyrant, I revel in slaughter, come and kill me if you dare!

They are indeed trying.

Another Crimson Flame Army soldier charged towards him. Lin Mo circled the attacker, cutting off his spearhead, then his hand and arm.

An archer who had lost his bow grabbed an arrow and thrust it like a dagger, but Lin Mo kicked him over, sending him sprawling on his back. Lin Mo laughed heartily.

He walked past a flag planted in the ground, bearing Li Liang's fiery red heart emblem, and chopped the flagpole in two with a single sword stroke.

A Doth man suddenly appeared out of nowhere, raising his Doth scimitar and hacking at his shield repeatedly, but he was caught off guard and attacked with a dagger, which was plunged into his armpit.

He must have been saved by his subordinates, but Lin Mo didn't see them at all.

"I surrender, Your Highness," shouted a Crimson Flame Army soldier in the distance. "I surrender. Your Highness, King of Shu, I surrender to you!"

"Die!" Without the slightest hesitation, Lin Mo chopped off the man's head.

Further ahead, the enemy had completely withdrawn and fled Tianshui City.

The second day of the decisive battle temporarily came to an end with Lin Mo's "victory".

~~~
After the battle came to an end, Lin Mo hung his armor in the armory, returned to his room, took off his sweat-stained clothes, and put on a fresh set of clean clothes.
It was early winter, the weather was getting cooler, and the wind was stronger, so I put on a heavy hooded cloak.
"Knock, knock, knock!" There was a knock on the door.
"Come in!"
"Your subordinate Qin Zhixing greets Your Highness!" Qin Zhixing bowed.
Lin Mo turned around and did not respond immediately, but slowly closed the door.
Today the weather is clear, and Tianyue Mountain seems to be weeping. Water droplets flow on the surface of the city wall, leaving long trails that shimmer in the sunlight.
In the cramped room, Qin Zhixing clearly and strongly sensed Lin Mo's oppressive aura.
"Your Highness, is there anything I can do for you?"
Lin Mo smiled. "Old Qin, how have I treated you?"
"Your Highness has shown me immense kindness!" Qin Zhixing replied.
"No need for flattery!" Lin Mo said. "I want to hear your honest thoughts!"
"The truth?" Qin Zhixing seemed to have guessed what Lin Mo was about to say. "Your Highness, please forgive this humble servant for deserving death!"
"Oh? A capital offense?" Lin Mo's face darkened. "What crime have you committed?"
"Your Highness, you want to ask me how much I know about General Bai's actions, right?" Qin Zhixing asked. "Now he is the supreme commander of the entire army, and he has ordered that anyone who leaks information will be executed without mercy!"
"Who exactly is the King of Shu?" Lin Mo asked anxiously. "Are you all listening to him now? Don't you even respect me, the King of Shu?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Zhixing immediately knelt down and said, "Your Highness, military orders are absolute! Even if I knew, I cannot reveal General Bai's plan!"
"Hmph, if you say that, it means you know his plan!" Lin Mo said. "Fine, I won't ask what his plan is or why he always goes up the mountain."
But I want to know, why did Bai Qi hide away during the two days of city defense?
And why aren't my Great Tang Xuanjia Heavy Cavalry and my Hu-style Archer Cavalry participating in the battle?
Do you know that I almost died at the hands of assassins from Xuanhua Palace?!
Qin Zhixing responded bitterly, "Your Highness, please forgive me!" He kowtowed repeatedly, "General Bai... he didn't explain any of this to me. I was just following his orders!"
"You..." Lin Mo was speechless.
If you push me too far, I'll take this guy's military command and fuck him!
Just then, Bai Qi's voice rang out, "This humble servant, Bai Qi, requests an audience with Your Highness!"
Lin Mo, "..."
They came right away!
