A man who called himself He Xiao slowly emerged from the shadows.
Lin Mo noticed that this person was slender, with half black and half white hair, a pointed nose and forehead, wrinkles on his face, thin eyebrows, and eyes as black as a venomous snake in the eternal night.
"It's an honor to meet you, Lin Mo, the most prominent figure in Great Xia these days!" He Xiao smiled.
"To actually alarm the Venerable Master of Xuanhua Palace," Lin Mo replied coldly. "But unfortunately, I have absolutely no desire to see you!"
“Haha, my men have failed time and time again, so I had to come in person.” He Xiao’s lips twitched slightly. “I’m very curious, how exactly did you manage to annihilate Chief Kago’s tribe?”
No wonder Tang Feng and the female assassin didn't reappear in the subsequent battle!
"What else can I do but order my men to take up knives and slash?" Lin Mo said.
"Are you mocking the agent of the Faceless God?" He Xiao's expression changed, and a chilling killing intent swept over him.
This action startled Lin Mo, who drew his longsword and leaped into the air.
He Xiao stood motionless in the darkness, like a tree in the forest.
"You want to kill me? With the scrap metal you have?" He Xiao said coldly.
Lin Mo raised his longsword, pointing it at He Xiao, "You're here to spout nonsense? I don't have time for that!"
"If you're really so eager to die, I can lend you a hand!" With that, He Xiao immediately flashed forward, appearing in front of Lin Mo with a short sword in his hand.
Lin Mo instinctively swung his sword, but He Xiao easily dodged it.
The latter brandished its short sword, dodging to the side and slashing down at Lin Mo's chest. The sword scraped across Lin Mo's breastplate, producing a piercing metallic scraping sound. It cut through the outer garment, leaving a long, bright scratch on the armor.
Lin Mo felt a sharp pain in his chest and instinctively wiped it away with his hand.
"Blood...my blood!"
With a single blow, he injured me!
Lin Mo gritted his teeth, steeled his resolve, and lunged at He Xiao once more.
However, his repeated attempts to sever He Xiao's head were as futile as trying to cut off a fly's wing.
The power of the Xuanhua Palace Master is ridiculously strong!
He Xiao dodged again, his short sword flashing like lightning, piercing the gaps in the heavy armor and entering the seam below the arm. The pointed tip pierced through the chainmail and leather armor.
As He Xiao swung his short sword and slashed it out, Lin Mo let out several choked groans.
He was defeated; Lin Mo was defeated in just two rounds.
However, even when facing such a powerful opponent, Lin Mo never uttered a single cry of pain, nor did he beg for mercy.
The blood flowing from Lin Mo's armpit was his own; his chest must be badly injured. He struggled to move forward, but one knee buckled.
He Xiao walked up to Lin Mo and asked, "Why didn't you beg for mercy?"
"Please!" Lin Mo said sternly.
He could joke around with Xu Chu and his subordinates, but with Yao Guangxiao he could call him a demonic monk.
But when facing the enemy, the word "surrender" does not exist in Lin Mo's dictionary!
Are you really not afraid of death?
“Death? What is there to fear!” Lin Mo said.
"Well said, then I'll grant your wish!" With that, He Xiao raised his sword and thrust.
Then, suddenly, he seemed to have discovered something.
A piece of paper, the kind Guo Wenlong gave Lin Mo, and that strange pattern.
Although it was stained with blood, the outline could still be vaguely seen.
He Xiao was stunned. He sheathed his short sword and questioned, "Who gave you this?"
Lin Mo suddenly remembered this item: Guo Wenlong? Xuanhua Palace?
“A friend,” Lin Mo replied.
"Guo Wenlong?" He Xiao asked again.
"Yes!" Lin Mo said, "He also taught me two phrases."
"What did you say?"
"All people suffer!" Lin Mo said.
“It’s not easy to have a clear mind!” He Xiao said subconsciously.
"All men must die!"
"Only those who serve Faceless God will live forever!"
After reading this sentence, He Xiao's expression immediately became complicated.
He closed his eyes and remained silent for a long time.
"Hahaha! It's fate, it's all fate." Suddenly, He Xiao burst into laughter. "Perhaps this is the test the Faceless God has given me! Tell me, who do you want to kill?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Mo was completely bewildered.
"Murder?" Lin Mo asked instinctively. "What murder?"
“The Faceless God is a creditor; it’s a life for a life!” He Xiao said. “I owe Guo Wenlong two lives. Before this, I had already killed one for him, and now there is one left!”
Wait a minute, this is a bit messy! Lin Mo thought to himself, I need to sort this out.
Simply put, He Xiao owes Guo Wenlong a debt of two lives.
He Xiao killed one person for Guo Wenlong, and there is still a debt of one life to repay.
“But you owe Guo Wenlong, not me, Lin Mo!” Lin Mo asked.
"This is the rule of my Xuanhua Palace!" He Xiao told him, "Tell me your name, and I will kill the person for you. After that, we will be even!"
Lin Mo finally understood: the pattern and the coded message Guo Wenlong gave him meant that the debt He Xiao owed had been transferred to him.
"Kill anyone you want?" Lin Mo asked.
“Yes!” He Xiao replied.
"Wei Maozhen? And Li Hu, Li Liang?" Lin Mo thought. Any of them would be fine?
Are you sure?
"One life for one life!" He Xiao reiterated, "Just one life, no more, no less!"
Lin Mo couldn't help but gasp. "This means, we really can kill that woman!"
But here's the problem: Li Hu hired you to kill me, how do we settle this debt?
So he asked, "Then you're not going to kill me?"
