In the days and nights that followed, the battle raged on.
Before this, Lin Mo disliked sleeping because he slept far too much in order to earn points.
Now, he longs for a good night's sleep.
Lin Mo couldn't remember the last time he fell asleep. When he closed his eyes, he dreamed of battle; when he opened his eyes, he was always in battle.
The Dos coalition's attacks became more frequent and more ferocious.
Once, he was exhausted and about to fall asleep when a loud bang rang out beside him. It was a rock thrown by a catapult, which landed less than two meters away from Lin Mo.
The loud noise nearly scared him out of his wits; if he had gotten within two meters, he would have been gone!
When Xu Chu came to call him, he had already woken up and was lying irritably on the greenhouse floor, covered with a pile of furs.
"My lord!" Xu Chu said, shaking his shoulder, "Those bastards are attacking again!" He pulled Lin Mo up.
The others also woke up one after another, shoving each other in the cramped space, putting on their boots and fastening their sword belts.
No one spoke. They were all too tired to talk.
“I dreamt that Mr. Yao came,” Xu Chu said. “Our carrier pigeons flew to Xichuan City, and he came with a million-strong army. I dreamt of our military flag, which was golden!”
Lin Mo immediately sensed something was wrong, and Xu Chu even started to have wild fantasies.
This is understandable, as Xu Chu stayed by Lin Mo's side without leaving him even when he was sleeping, in addition to fighting day and night.
He hasn't slept for days and nights.
Thinking of this, Lin Mo suddenly shed a tear, "My Fan Kuai, I..."
"Hey, my lord, why are you crying?" Xu Chu subconsciously touched Lin Mo's eyes. "They really are tears!"
"Oh, well, I got sand in my eyes!" Lin Mo smiled bitterly.
"Haha, my lord, so what if you shed tears? What's there to be embarrassed about!" Xu Chu laughed heartily. "Don't worry, who is this old Xu? He can handle it!"
Lin Mo's heart trembled. "My Fan Kuai, all my words can be summed up in one sentence: I have nothing more to say!"
From this day forward, as long as I, Lin Mo, am here, you will enjoy a lifetime of wealth and honor.
If you are able to get married and have children later.
Hereditary princely title!
Lin Mo gripped his longsword, put on his cloak, and walked to the fourth city wall.
A gust of wind blew a wisp of cool air into his long black hair.
Not far away, the Dos camp was bustling with activity, countless campfires rising and plumes of smoke reaching towards the pale sky like fingers. They erected tents made of animal hides or furs along the edge of the forest, and even built a simple long hall out of logs and branches.
To the east were herds of horses, and to the west were soldiers' camps. People were everywhere, some sharpening scimitars, some poisoning arrows, and others making makeshift armor.
Lin Mo knew that there were dozens of times more people in the distance than outside.
The city walls, already contributed, provided a barrier, hiding them from the hateful soldiers of the Great Xia.
Before long, their archers had quietly advanced, pushing the cover forward.
"Breakfast is here!" Xu Chu would announce cheerfully every morning.
It's a good thing he said that; someone always has to make a joke.
The bunker was a modified siege tower, wide enough to shelter a dozen Dos soldiers. The Dos archers pushed it closer, then knelt behind it and fired arrows through the gaps.
However, compared to the archers who have been enhanced by the system, their archery skills are clearly inferior.
When the Doth dared to stick their heads out, several arrows would accurately pierce their throats.
So the Dossians stopped emerging from their bunkers and instead pushed it closer, inch by inch, meter by meter, as it rumbled and swayed across the battlefield.
Arrows fired from a bow can pierce flesh and blood, but they cannot cause any further damage to this ghostly thing.
Even stones would bounce off the top of this modified siege tower, leaving only shallow craters.
"Give them something special!" Lin Mo announced.
So his soldiers brought over buckets filled with thick asphalt!
Of course, these items were all redeemed from the system, and their explosive damage was immense.
Yesterday, after witnessing the Dos people covering their siege towers with sheepskin, Lin Mo immediately ordered his men to fill buckets with water, as much as they could. The water mixed with gravel would freeze solid overnight.
This is the closest thing to the large rock.
"Why freeze it?" Qin Zhixing once asked him. "Why not just roll it down?"
"You don't understand? This is physics!" Lin Mo said. If it hits a rock halfway, the bucket will crack, scattering shards everywhere. A rain of stones on these bastards isn't enough."
At that moment, Xu Chu was holding a wooden bucket in each hand, shaking it back and forth to break the ice at the bottom. "Your Highness, this thing must weigh a thousand pounds!"
"On my command, aim at that damn thing and throw it!" Lin Mo announced.
Shortly after, a Great Xia soldier shouted, "Your Highness, they're getting closer!"
Lin Mo looked over and shouted, "Xu Chu, throw it!"
Xu Chu braced himself with his shoulder, let out a muffled groan, and hoisted the wooden bucket onto his shoulder.
"Drink!" Xu Chu shouted, and the wooden bucket flew out.
With a loud "bang," the wooden barrel collided with the city wall, followed by an even louder impact and the sound of wood breaking.
"Fire!" Lin Mo immediately gave the order.
A rain of flaming arrows fell, flames appeared, followed by shouts and screams.
After the buckets were thrown away, the modified siege towers were broken and deformed beyond recognition. The Dos people poured out from the other end, scrambling to escape back to their camp.
The Xia soldiers raised their bows and fired several arrows to hasten the enemy's escape.
