"I don't." Zhang Chuntao refused without thinking.
Einstein is her dog and her favorite, so how could she take him out casually?
Not to mention, Zhang Chuntao could guess with her toes what the little boy would do after seeing Einstein.
"This," the father hesitated, "is just a dog. It's no big deal to take it with you!"
"Dad," Zhang Chuntao sneered. She felt as if a flame was rising and burning in her chest. "Why should I try to please them?"
The father on the other end didn't say anything, but just turned half of his face to look out the window. The somewhat gray sky was exactly the same as his current mood.
He was about to take out a cigarette and take a puff, but when he thought of his daughter being beside him, he resisted the urge.
"Your mother knows your grades." Her father's face was still shrouded in shadow, making it difficult for Zhang Chuntao to discern his expression or his thoughts. "She said you're already a sophomore in high school, and even with this grade on the college entrance exam, you won't be able to get into a good university."
Zhang Chuntao sat dejectedly on the sofa. Since her father was telling the truth, she did not refute him.
Einstein could not understand the conversation between the father and daughter. All he could do was lie down next to Zhang Chuntao and put his furry head next to her hand to comfort her.
No matter what, Einstein was on Zhang Chuntao's side.
"But your mother, and that man..." The father's face was gloomy. He felt ashamed when he said this, but he accepted it for his daughter's sake. "They said they could send you abroad to study at a university. Then you would have an extraordinary status. I, your father, have no ability and can't help you. So you have to please them."
After the father finished speaking, he did not expect Zhang Chuntao to give him an immediate response, but gave her some time to herself. The man dragged his tired body and slowly walked away.
In that era, studying abroad was still very valuable, unlike today, when everyone has discovered that returning from overseas does not necessarily mean knowledge and talent.
So rich people send their children abroad to gain experience so that they can easily get a good job after returning home.
As for whether you attended a fake university or a good school, many companies’ human resources are not clear.
These principles were easy for Zhang Chuntao to understand, but she didn't want to think about them so clearly.
At this moment, the girl had only one crazy thought in her mind. She wanted freedom, she wanted to rush out, and she wanted to live a life of drunkenness and dreams.
Without saying a word, she pushed the door open and rushed out.
The old man had been sitting on the balcony reading the newspaper. After the farce between the father and daughter was over, he slowly walked over.
"Kids these days have really bad tempers. If you had done that back then, I would have spanked you."
The father smiled and said, "Forget it, let her go. Calm down."
The old man sighed and said, "If you ask me, what's so good about going abroad? Is America really that good? It's so much better to stay in China and see it every day!"
"Dad," the father shook his head and finally lit a cigarette for himself, "children grow up and eventually leave. I actually hope she can go as far away as possible, because that would mean she's doing well. What's the point of me staying by your side every day like this?"
Einstein whimpered, because he missed his master.

When Zhang Chuntao ran to the street, she realized that she seemed to have nowhere to go.
Fortunately, she did not forget where Xiaohua's home was, so she ran all the way to the door of the barber shop.
Every holiday was Xiaohua's most miserable time, as she couldn't go anywhere and could only work a summer job at home.
When Zhang Chuntao rushed over, Xiaohua was working as a diligent shampooer.
"Mom, it's Taozi!" Xiaohua was sharp-eyed and she immediately spotted Zhang Chuntao who was still wandering and hesitating at the door.
Who knew that in his excitement, he didn't control the strength well, and directly made the customer scream: "Wash my hair properly, what kind of service attitude is this!"
Xiaohua's mother quickly apologized to the guest, scolded her daughter a few words, and still let Zhang Chuntao come in and sit down.
"Taozi, are you here to play with our Xiaohua? Then you'd better wait a moment, she's still working!"
"I'm fine," Zhang Chuntao said, her anxious heart calming down as she smelled the cheap shampoo and hair dye in the air. "I'll just sit here."
"Hey, Taozi, I heard you made great progress on this final exam," Xiaohua's mother looked at her with a smile. "Can you tell Auntie how you studied? Did your mom hire a tutor for you?"
The neighbors all knew that Zhang Chuntao's mother had married a wealthy man, and they often used this to mock her as a slut. But when it came to her, she envied her because she had no worries about food and clothing.
"No, I don't have much contact with her." Zhang Chuntao was a little bored. "Auntie, I'm going to get some ice cream. Xiaohua, when you're done, come to the ice cream shop we often go to. I'll wait for you!"
After Zhang Chuntao left, Xiaohua glared at her mother and said, "Mom, why are you bringing up something that's not relevant to the topic? Taozi already doesn't like her mother, and you're still bringing it up!"
"I'm just concerned about you!" Xiaohua's mother said, "You have no conscience!"
Zhang Chuntao sat in the shaved ice shop and ordered a blueberry flavor for herself.
The blueberry jam mixed with ice cubes dissipated the hot summer heat and calmed her down.
What she heard was the sound of someone reading English, which made Zhang Chuntao look back involuntarily.
"Are you reciting the text?" Zhang Chuntao recognized the other person. He was the son of the store owner and looked a little silly.
"No, our teacher said that English will be very important in the future. My dream is to get into Harvard on a full scholarship!"
The boy's lofty ambitions did not infect Zhang Chuntao. She was looking at the popular Taiwanese idol drama on TV, feeling a little dazed.
Yeah, studying abroad seems to be all the rage lately. Wasn't there a Harvard girl featured in the newspapers a while ago?
Zhang Chuntao shook her head again. With her intelligence, even if she really went abroad, she would not be able to get into Harvard, not even Harbin Buddhist College.
"What are you thinking about? You seem strange today!" Xiaohua sat down. "But I want to thank you. If you hadn't shown up in time, I don't know how long my mom would have kept me there!"
"Oh," Zhang Chuntao pouted, "My mom wants to send me to study abroad."
The sound of reading English subsided for a few seconds. Xiaohua covered her mouth, looking a little confused.
