After shooting the cover, Yue Shao and the other three dragged their tired bodies back home.
In the blink of an eye, it was the day for recording the third episode of "Autumn of Music".
"Brother Yang, is he not able to come today?" Su Yin lowered her head to fiddle with the small toy that came with the snacks. "I saw Xiao Li's WeChat Moments and they're rushing to film 'Yi Yi'."
"That should be the case," Lin Xuan'er replied. "I specifically asked about it. Brother Yang is in Nanhai Province and can't make it back."
Guan Fei walked into the room and heard the four of them discussing. Then she spoke up, "Although Brother Yang couldn't go to the scene, he still called me just now."
"What did you say?" Wang Xingrui raised her head and looked over curiously.
"He said that the opponents in this round are very strong, so you must not underestimate them."
Guan Fei said with a smile.
"Huh?" Su Yin sighed. "Brother Yang actually arranged us for such a strong group. Could he have done it on purpose?"
"It must be intentional," Tang Yue said confidently, "I suspect Brother Yang is worried that we might relax after winning the award. So he deliberately arranged for us to face strong opponents, just to motivate us!"
The more the four of them talked, the more they felt that it made sense, but Lin Xuan'er became happy because of their discussion.
"A strong opponent is great," she said, her eyes sparkling with ambition. "We're not weak either! And today is our first public appearance since winning the award. I wonder how many haters are waiting for us to make a mistake!"
"Xuan'er is absolutely right about that," Tang Yue said, stroking her phone. "Ever since we won the Golden Melody Awards, we've gained more fans, but we've also had a lot more haters."
"We should get going." Guan Fei interrupted their conversation: "Luckily, the city where we're recording today is not too far away from us."
The recording location this time was an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. Except for Lin Xuaner, none of them had ever been there.
Along the way, they seemed to have forgotten that they were going to record a show, and when they started discussing, it was as if they were going on an outing.
"Xuan'er," Wang Xingrui asked softly, sitting next to Lin Xuan'er, "I heard someone say there was once a touching love story in this ancient town. Is it true?"
"Love story?" Lin Xuan'er had last been to the ancient town seven or eight years ago. She only remembered that the summers were hot and humid, crowded, and all the goods were sold wholesale. As for anything else, she really couldn't remember. "You must be remembering it wrongly. I haven't heard of it."
"That seems like a random thing from a novel," Wang Xingrui said, a little disappointed. "But the scenery over there should be pretty nice, right?"
Lin Xuan'er didn't answer the question directly, but instead asked, "Your hometown should have an ancient town, right?"
Including Guan Fei, everyone nodded.
Lin Xuan'er continued, "Then don't have too high expectations. I think ancient towns in various places are all cut from the same mold."
"Is that so?" Tang Yue pouted. "But it should be good as a background for taking photos!"
In Nanhai Province, even in late October, the weather is still very hot.
Zhou Yiyang stood behind the camera, enduring the scorching summer sun without a single complaint.
Zhang Yingyuan gave full authority to Zhou Yiyang for today's scene.
He wanted to test whether Zhou Yiyang had made any progress during this period.
"Props team," Zhou Yiyang said, not even wiping the sweat off his forehead. "Get ready. Lighting team, use cold lights to create an atmosphere that's detached from emotion."
After he finished speaking, he turned around to glance at Zhang Yingyuan's expression, but he didn't know that Director Zhang had no intention of speaking at all.
The other actors did not dare to neglect Zhou Yiyang. Not to mention his identity as assistant director, just because he was an investor, these actors would not offend him.
No matter what Zhou Yiyang arranged, they did it.
The filming went much more smoothly than expected. After experiencing real life, the actors' acting skills really became much more natural. Without having to explain the scenes to the actors, Zhou Yiyang actually finished the scene half an hour ahead of schedule.
"That's all for today, everyone, call it a day." Zhang Yingyuan stepped forward, then walked over to Zhou Yiyang and patted him on the shoulder: "Show me the results of your photos."
Zhou Yiyang immediately gave up his seat and handed the camera to Zhang Yingyuan.
It was a ten-minute clip, but Zhang Yingyuan watched it for half an hour.
During this time, Zhang Yingyuan's expression changed a lot, sometimes unhappy, sometimes smiling, and sometimes numb. Zhou Yiyang felt uneasy, as if he was back in school, having his teacher correct his homework in person.
Finally, Zhang Yingyuan turned his head away from the camera and looked at Zhou Yiyang seriously: "I can see that you are looking for the right lens language and gradually forming your own imaging style."
Zhou Yiyang nodded. He was indeed trying to figure out how to shoot in his own style instead of blindly imitating his predecessors.
But this process is hard.
"It's still a little immature," Zhang Yingyuan said, finishing his list of strengths and moving on to the weaknesses. "Also, because you were overly focused on the aesthetics of the shots, you shot a lot of unnecessary footage. At least I think all of that can be deleted; it doesn't contribute to the plot at all. It's not easy to go from complex to simple!"
Zhou Yiyang understood, and he would indeed ignore this point. He loved photographing still lifes, racking his brains to capture their most beautiful aspects.
But in the process of pursuing beauty, we sometimes forget that movies are ultimately about telling stories, and the plot is the most important.
