"Before announcing the voting results, I think we should first hear the opinions of several mentors."
Zhang Yingyuan was the first to speak up: "To be honest, when Director Zhou told me that he was planning to choose this story to present in the competition, I was actually quite surprised."
Chang Tiesheng on the side smiled knowingly, as if he had the same idea as Zhang Yingyuan.
"'Lice' is a very strange movie. The story is actually quite simple, even a bit clichéd. I think the reason why so many moviegoers like it has a lot to do with the fact that it was banned in the beginning."
The audience suddenly became excited. Zhang Yingyuan had never noticed before that he was such an honest person.
"But I still want to thank Mr. Zhou. If it weren't for him, I might not have been able to see such a wonderful performance. I must praise the costumes, props, and stage design. The cheongsams worn by Jasmine and her aunt were almost replicas of the originals from that year, and they were very carefully crafted. The two actresses really brought out the beauty of the cheongsam."
As for the stage, it didn't feel like a live performance at all; it felt more like watching a movie. If I hadn't known about the cameras everywhere, I would have thought Director Zhou was showing our director's cut!
Su Yin breathed a sigh of relief. Regardless of whether it was just a polite remark, at least Zhang Yingyuan was not disappointed in her.
Looking back now, her performance just now actually had a lot of room for improvement.
Due to time constraints, Su Yin finally chose to imitate the original. If she had been given a few more days, she would definitely have figured out her own ideas.
Coincidentally, Zhou Yiyang spoke.
Lin Xuan'er, who was backstage, nudged Tang Yue with her elbow. "Look at Mr. Zhou's expression! Doesn't it feel familiar?"
Tang Yue took a closer look and got goosebumps all over her body. "I'm so familiar with this expression. Every time Mr. Zhou wants to criticize someone, he looks like this. Serious, squinting his eyes, like a ghost."
Wang Xingrui did not join their conversation, but kept reciting her lines.
Sure enough, Zhou Yiyang coughed lightly and said, "Director Zhang, I know you like to support the younger generation and are always so gentle to newcomers. But I think that since our show is a place to compete in acting skills, we should tell the truth. All three of them have problems."
When these words were spoken, the three actors on the stage were stunned, and the audience was also dumbfounded.
Friends from the media were all excitedly whispering to each other: "Finally, something interesting is going to happen."
"I was so scared! I thought this show was really going to be a love-and-piece, but now the audience isn't buying it at all!"
"Mr. Zhou is still Mr. Zhou. He knows how to run a show. But I didn't expect him to target Su Yin. I thought he loved Su Yin the most!"
Wang Xingrui came to her senses and, like most of the actors backstage, stared intently at the front.
Zhou Yiyang's reaction was indeed unexpected.
The already tense atmosphere has become even more intense.
"Su Yin," Zhou Yiyang called her name, and Su Yin immediately stood up straight. "I can see that you are very familiar with the original movie. This is a good thing. If you are not familiar with the original work, wouldn't it be just a random story? But you made a big mistake. You let the original character take over your mind.
I'm not saying the original actress's performance was bad; on the contrary, she performed exceptionally well, capturing the character's shrewdness, mercenary nature, and ruthlessness. But we're not "Variety Show," and we don't need a slavish imitation.
Su Yin nodded. She wasn't angry because she knew very well that her performance did have the problems Zhou Yiyang mentioned.
Zhou Yiyang then turned around and looked at the other two trembling actors:
"I'll address both of your issues together. Your performances were formulaic. I expected when to cry and how to cry. However, given the time you had to prepare, I also know I can't be too harsh on you. I hope your next performance will be better, and I hope you won't get discouraged."
Pang Li nodded, then looked towards the media people.
"I see a teacher has been raising her hand enthusiastically. Does she have anything to say?"
The teacher who was called stood up excitedly: "I want to praise Su Yin. To be honest, I only heard your songs before and knew that you were a very popular idol. But today I found that you are very talented. Come on, don't pay attention to those rumors!"
Su Yin responded awkwardly.
Zhou Yiyang couldn't help laughing, was he implying that what he said was a rumor?
After the comments, Pang Li finally announced the voting results that the audience had been looking forward to the most.
"The votes from the 500 audience members have been counted, and the votes from the 30 media professionals have also been submitted. Before we do that, I need to emphasize again that each audience vote counts as 1 point, each media professional vote counts as 2 points. And each vote from our four mentors counts as 10 points."
"Director Zhang, who will you vote for?"
Tang Yue responded quickly, "What's there to guess? It must be our little Su!"
However, the actress in Tang Yue's group shook her head: "I don't think so. Just like what Director Zhou said, Su Yin's performance is still at the imitation stage. It's obvious that the other two teachers' performances are more mature."
Wang Xingrui quietly poked Lin Xuan'er with her hand and whispered, "Xuan'er, do you think Tangtang will explode? She has a bad temper and protects her own shortcomings."
Lin Xuan'er had heard of that actress. She was a late bloomer and had been unknown since she was over 30 years old until she came into the audience's attention last year with a supporting role in a TV series.
Actually, what she said makes sense, but this is a reality show, and there are cameras everywhere backstage, so every word they say will be recorded.
