Chapter 648: The Garden of Words (Part 2)

Their eyes met briefly, then looked away at the same time.

Just like the first time we met.

Luo Zhengbin buried his head so deeply that it almost touched the table.

"What's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?" his deskmate whispered. Seeing Luo Zhengbin shake his head, he continued, "But I really didn't expect the new English teacher to be so young and beautiful. She looks like she's only 24!"

24-17=7.

Luo Zhengbin wrote this extremely simple formula in his notebook, but he felt very upset.

Su Xiuli quickly adjusted her state. Her identity here was a teacher.

"Teacher Su's class today was very good." The head teacher said with a smile when he saw Su Xiuli coming towards him.

"Yes, many people come to the office after class. Teacher Su is really popular."

"No way," Su Xiuli sat down and prepared tomorrow's lesson plan: "Because I'm a new teacher, the students may find it fresh."

Students in the second year of high school have evening self-study classes.

Su Xiuli passed by the back window of the classroom and found that Luo Zhengbin's seat was empty.

"Teacher Liu," Su Xiuli asked the homeroom teacher, "The student in the back row by the window didn't come to evening study. Is that allowed?"

"Oh," the head teacher said, looking disappointed. "That's Luo Zhengbin. He skips classes all the time and his grades are always at the bottom. As long as he doesn't affect others, we don't have to worry about him. His family situation is pretty complicated."

Su Xiuli moved her lips, but in the end she didn't say a word.

In the following days, Luo Zhengbin and Su Xiuli returned to the purest student relationship.

If they met by chance in the corridor, Luo Zhengbin would call her "Teacher Su" like other classmates.

Luo Zhengbin was still absent from evening study.

Until one day it started raining again.

Su Xiuli didn't have classes this morning, but she still went around the classroom and checked the morning reading situation.

Luo Zhengbin didn't come.

[He went there.]

Su Xiuli looked at the rain outside and immediately had the answer.

"Teacher Liu, I'm going out to have breakfast."

"Go ahead, Teacher Su. If you don't have classes in the morning, you can come back in the afternoon."

Su Xiuli went to the park holding an umbrella.

In the familiar pavilion, Luo Zhengbin sat there buried in his reading.

The rain was pouring down from the eaves, and Luo Zhengbin heard approaching footsteps.

He looked up and saw Su Xiuli closing her umbrella.

"Why are you here?"

"No classes this morning." Su Xiuli sat next to Luo Zhengbin, his thin back faintly visible under his soaked white shirt. "Have you had breakfast?"

As she spoke, she took out two boxes of steamed dumplings from her bag.

"You made it yourself?" Luo Zhengbin's anger towards Su Xiuli had subsided. The moment she came over in the rain, he was no longer angry.

As for their relationship, both of them avoided talking about it.

"I bought it." Su Xiuli paused and said, "I don't know how to make dumplings."

"I will." Luo Zhengbin answered frankly.

Su Xiuli didn't continue the conversation. She glanced at the trembling lotus leaves in the pond and asked, "What book are you reading?"

Luo Zhengbin hesitated for a while and looked at Su Xiuli very formally.

Looking at Luo Zhengbin's eyes, Su Xiuli regretted asking this question.

"A book that teaches how to make shoes."

"Shoemaking?" Su Xiuli looked at Luo Zhengbin with interest. She did not mock Luo Zhengbin's dream. "Is this your ideal?"

"Yeah." Luo Zhengbin nodded. "I'm not joking. I've been preparing for this for a long time. I want to go to college and specialize in shoemaking."

If Su Xiuli were in the teacher's position, she might have advised Luo Zhengbin to study hard.

But she didn't do that now. She could see that Luo Zhengbin really loved this craft.

"I think you will definitely be a very good..." She was thinking about how to describe Luo Zhengbin's career.

"Shoemaker." Luo Zhengbin smiled. "I don't mind saying that. I'm planning to make my first pair of shoes. I haven't decided who to make them for yet. But it's a pair of women's shoes."

He lowered his head and subconsciously glanced at Su Xiuli's feet.

She was still wearing high heels today, a pair of golden leather high heels.

Su Xiuli seemed to feel Luo Zhengbin's gaze.

Tacit understanding needs no words.

She gently took off her high heels and threw them on the ground.

Luo Zhengbin squatted down and stretched out his hand tentatively. Seeing that Su Xiuli did not refuse, he held her bare feet.

That subtle touch was a fresh and magical experience for both of them.

The man's hands were a bit rough, showing that he worked a lot. The woman's feet were very white, smooth, and well-maintained.

He gently held the foot and placed it carefully on a new page in his open notebook.

Luo Zhengbin gently drew a circle, which was the size of Su Xiuli's feet.

Then he took out the tape measure he had prepared long ago and measured the length.

The height of the instep, the width of the heel... He carefully recorded every piece of data.

Su Xiuli looked at Luo Zhengbin who was working hard, her eyes extremely complicated.

[It’s too late to turn back now, right?]

The two seemed to have returned to their original relationship.

If it happens to rain and Su Xiuli has no classes, they will meet here.

Su Xiuli will listen to Luo Zhengbin's voice.

Listen to him talk about his family and his dreams.

But Luo Zhengbin still didn't know much about Su Xiuli.

But he received a gift:

"This is for you," Su Xiuli smiled gently, "Thank you for bringing me extra breakfast."
