Chapter 660: Summer Limited Edition (Part 2)

"Don't spit the bones on the table," Mother Lu said elegantly as she ate her boiled shrimp. As a middle-aged woman with extremely high standards for herself, her dinner always consisted of avocado, lettuce, and shrimp. "You should wrap the bones in paper and place them on the plate. Otherwise, if people see us eating out, they'll think we have no rules."

Lu Manman responded, as if she had long been accustomed to this kind of dinner atmosphere.

There was a table full of dishes, all of which she liked.

However, there were always only her and her mother at the table.

You can’t eat while watching TV, and you can’t eat for a while and then look at your phone like some of my classmates do.

"I just called your homeroom teacher," Mrs. Lu said, wiping her lips. She believed that talking with something near the lips was disrespectful. "Your English has declined. You only ranked fifth in the grade. This is your strong point."

"I originally chose the right answer for one question, but later I changed it to the wrong answer." Lu Manman had just picked up a lion's head when it accidentally fell down.

Mother Lu took a deep breath. "This shows that you're not sure about this knowledge point, otherwise why would you change it? Even if you guessed it right, it's meaningless. Have you thought about the arts and science division next semester?"

"I..." Lu Manman glanced at her mother. She wanted to study liberal arts, and she loved history.

Before she could speak, Mother Lu muttered to herself, "Your father and your uncle are both doctors. You should know that our family has extensive connections in the hospital. If you study medicine, you shouldn't have any problems getting into your uncle's hospital in the future."

"I understand." Lu Manman agreed without any expectations: "I will study science."

Licheng.

Qi Xueer was full and lying on the sofa with a bottle of Coke just taken out of the freezer in her hand.

"Tell me, how did you do in the exam this time!" Mother Qi sat next to Qi Xueer, opened a Coke and took a sip.

"Mom, can't you just get a new bottle yourself? As for me, it's just like that. It's not easy for me to get into high school!"

"I bought them all. I can drink whatever I want." Mother Qi didn't have any expectations for Qi Xueer's grades: "You won't be ranked last again, will you? If it were me, I would tell you to go to medical school, and then find your second aunt and get her into your second uncle's hospital."

"I'm a nurse?" Qi Xue'er shook her head and stepped barefoot on the sofa. She was very domineering. "I'm afraid I'll make the patient's condition worse!"

"What are you going to do in the future? Set up a stall like your mother and I!" Mother Qi rented a shop in front of the elementary school, mainly selling stationery and small gifts, and also worked part-time selling fried skewers.

"That would be great!" Qi Xue'er laughed. "Then I'll eat all the fried potatoes and sausages that aren't sold out every day! If things don't work out, I'll just be a teacher like my dad!"

"You." Qi's father came out in a sweatshirt, his hands clasped together, reading a novel. "These days, being a teacher requires a bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate! If you can succeed me, hey, your dad will be satisfied! My dear, if you get into college, I'll treat you to a hundred tables of buffet!"

"What nonsense!" Qi's mother poked Qi's father's arm with her finger: "One hundred tables, you have a lot of money! But if she can really get into college, I will have the nerve to invite my second sister."

At night, Qi Xueer lay in bed listening to music.

She was listening to Luo Chen's "Chengdu". She had always been curious about what this city with pandas and hot pot was like.

It’s definitely more developed than their small town.

But big cities don't seem so perfect either. For example, her cousin in a big city seems unhappy every time they meet during the Spring Festival.

If, Qi Xueer fantasized while holding her phone, "If I can get into college, I will definitely go to a big city! Qi Xueer, you can do it!"

Qi Xueer, who was half asleep, was woken up by her mother.

She was about to complain, but she found that her father, who was always so cheerful, now had a serious expression.

Something happened.

Lu Manman couldn't sleep.

She heard her parents arguing.

"I have a major surgery in a few days, so I can't go back with you."

"Yes, I am the lead surgeon, no one can replace me."

"Take Manman with you back. Her grandmother has always loved her."

grandmother?

Lu Manman suddenly sat up straight, and the old man's kind face immediately appeared in her mind.

As for her busy father, Lu Manman did not complain, but was actually very proud of him.

My father is very responsible and serious in his profession. Although he often forgets his family, his patients always need him more than her.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Lu Manman quickly pretended to be asleep, not wanting to worry her parents.

"Manman." Mother Lu's voice was filled with rare fatigue and sadness: "Mom wants to tell you something."

Lu Manman slowly opened her eyes and saw her mother's red eyes.

"Your grandma just passed away." Mother Lu paused, not knowing whether to comfort Lu Manman or herself: "When people reach this age, death always comes unexpectedly."

The mother and daughter's hands were folded together through the quilt.

"Go to sleep first and come back with me tomorrow."

There is no airport in Licheng. Lu Manman came out of the airport and followed her mother on the train back home.

Unfortunately, my mother bought a sleeper berth. She really wanted to experience the scene in the novel where people from all over the world chatted in the hard seat carriage. It must be very lively.

"Dad," Qi Xue'er followed her father while her mother went to attend to the funeral. "Second Aunt came by plane, right?"

"Sure." Father Qi stood up straight instantly and greeted the guests.

"I've never been on a plane." Qi Xueer looked up at the sky, as if she saw herself flying in the air.
