Chapter 758: The Godfather of the Demon City (Part 1)

The snow fell silently, gradually covering the entire earth.

Two words appeared on the screen: [Encounter].

A middle-aged man opened the window and looked into the distance.

He then put on his police uniform and left home.

In front of the church, a Chinese man with black eyes and black hair, dressed in priest's clothes, was giving alms.

There was a long queue in front of the church, all of them were homeless people and poor people.

The girl played by Su Yin had a gray face, as if she had just escaped from a coal mine.

Her eyes were bright and lively. She hid behind a tall "woman" and asked doubtfully, "Sister Hua, you are a religious person. I really couldn't tell!"

"Who said I'm religious?" Wang Xiaohua scoffed. Her voice was a little raspy, and she looked a size larger than the average woman. If she weren't wearing a woman's coat, she could easily be mistaken for a man. "It's because they have free breakfast here. Hello, Father. Thank God!"

"Thank God, thank the country, and thank the government."

The pastor pretended not to hear her, thanked her devoutly, poured her a bowl of porridge, and brought in a boiled egg.

"I'm two people, you have to give me two."

Wang Xiaohua's words caused a huge uproar. Some people talked about it, some laughed at her, and some scolded her.

"This androgynous person is acting crazy!"

"They are all schizophrenic, they are all pitiful people!"

"Hurry up and go, the people behind us haven't eaten yet!"

Wang Xiaohua straightened her body, and the people who were talking around her fell silent.

"I look like a man, that's the first one. But I have a woman in my heart, that's the second one!"

In a small park outside the church, the three of them squatted in front of a bench, drinking hot porridge, as if they had come alive.

Lao Jin finished his porridge and without even wiping his mouth, he reached for the extra bowl of porridge.

"Oh, the New Year is so good, there's even meat inside! Hua'er, give it to me, thank you!"

However, Wang Xiaohua suddenly slapped Lao Jin's outstretched hand, picked up the porridge, and handed it to Xue Mei, played by Su Yin.

"You drink, now is the time for you to grow."

"Thank you, Sister Hua!" Xue Mei's voice also became cheerful.

Lao Jin snorted, and Wang Xiaohua put the egg in front of him.

"You eat it, I'm on a diet!"

After eating and drinking, Xue Mei grabbed a handful of snow from the ground, rolled it into a ball and threw it towards the big tree behind him.

Although she looks well-behaved, she seems to be much more naughty than she appears.

"There must be a lot of people celebrating New Year's Eve on the Bund tonight. Should we go?" Xue Mei's eyes rolled around, accidentally revealing her playful nature.

"Go ahead!" Wang Xiaohua was eager to try: "Who knows, maybe I can run into my soulmate there!"

"You guys..." Old Jin was older than the others, and inherently averse to joining in the fun. He opened his mouth to refuse, but when he looked up and saw a little girl sitting on her father's shoulders outside the park, clutching a balloon and laughing happily, Old Jin swallowed his words. "Go... Go early, or else the crowd will be so crowded that you'll die!"

"Let's go now," Wang Xiaohua said, wrapping herself tightly in her coat. She'd survived this winter thanks to it. "Maybe we'll meet someone kind enough to give us food!"

They all had a practical spirit and indeed headed towards the Bund.

They walked through the park, where every tree was tied with fluorescent lights and hung with red lanterns. Ordinary people would feel nostalgic when seeing this.

"When I have a family in the future," Wang Xiaohua said as she walked out of the park. The shops selling Spring Festival couplets, lanterns, and snacks were the busiest. "I'll hang two lanterns at the door, too. How beautiful!"

"Eh..." Xue Mei frowned in disdain: "Sister Hua, why has your taste deteriorated? What's so good about home..."

"Xiaomei," Wang Xiaohua lowered her eyes. Although she looked fierce, her big, bell-like eyes shone with tenderness and maternity. "You never told us why you ran away from home."

"Wait!" Lao Jin blew hot air on his hands and rubbed them vigorously. "Didn't we agree not to ask this?"

"We're celebrating the New Year together," Wang Xiaohua's eyes fell on the happy family of three eating glutinous rice balls at the snack stand. "We, we're not just ordinary friends anymore."

In order to take a shortcut, they went into a narrow alley.

The mossy bluestone road was slippery and greasy, stained by the water droplets dripping from the long clothes hangers on both sides of the alley.

Lao Jin was a little absent-minded and accidentally fell down. He flew forward and almost hit the trash can.

A few big black rats were frightened by the "sudden disaster" and quickly rushed out from the garbage dump and crawled into the gaps between the stone slabs.

"Old Jin," Wang Xiaohua laughed so hard that her shoulders trembled. "We may be poor, but we shouldn't get so excited just because we see a garbage dump!"

"I, I fell!" Lao Jin was about to get up when he saw a pair of round black eyes staring at him from the garbage heap. "What the hell! What the hell is this!"

"Wow--"

A cry made Wang Xiaohua rush over like a fly, and she found a baby wrapped in a thick quilt in the garbage dump.

Miraculously, when Wang Xiaohua held the baby, he stopped crying immediately.

"I think this is the family God has given me. He, He must have heard my call!"

Xue Mei stared at Wang Xiaohua confused and helpless. She couldn't understand Sister Hua's mood.

But she still walked over instinctively: "Sister Hua, there seems to be something in his quilt."

A crumpled note read:

"Take good care of him, thank you."

"An abandoned baby! It's actually an abandoned baby!" Wang Xiaohua said angrily, "How could someone throw away such a beautiful child?"

"Maybe it was an accident. It would be a hassle to give birth to the baby." Xue Mei muttered to herself.

However, Lao Jin wanted to snatch the child from Wang Xiaohua's arms: "Let's send her to the police station. This is not something we can do."

"No, this, this child is a gift from God!" Wang Xiaohua insisted.

"But how are we going to support him?" Xue Mei calmly began to analyze the situation. "We have no money and no place to live. Should we let him live with us in that house under the bridge? Sister Hua, if you care about him, you should let him live with better parents."

"Yeah," Old Jin chimed in, "We can't even afford diapers...and powdered milk. We can't let him eat the same expired food that convenience stores throw away as us, can we?"

Wang Xiaohua bit her lip and took a lot of effort to make a decision: "Then let's find his parents first. After all, they are his biological parents. It's New Year's Eve, and they might have regretted it..."

The camera turned to the face of a homeless man not far from the garbage dump, and two large words appeared on the screen:

[Searching for relatives].
