Backstage, the first thing the four of them wanted to do was to find a sofa to lie down on. They needed to have a good rest and clear their minds.
They responded to every blessing from the staff member who passed by with the most sincere smile.
When they arrived backstage and saw the people they mentioned in the interview appear before them, they were all stunned.
Zhou Yiyang naturally captured this scene and used the theme of "Reunion".
He suddenly realized that this song is actually quite suitable for "The Godfather of Magic City".
"Well, I'm not fat now, am I?" The boy Tang Yue was talking about looked surprisingly good, but he was as thin as a stick.
Tang Yue circled around him and said with distrust, "Is this really you? Brother Yang, these can't be the extras you hired!"
"Tang Yue!" The boy was furious, his sarcastic nature still intact. "Why would I lie to you? I shouldn't have come."
"Alright, alright," Tang Yue stopped teasing him. She looked him over and said, "Well, you're a bit more respectable than before. Are you doing okay now?"
"I'm preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam," the boy sighed. "Unlike you. I'm afraid I won't earn as much as you do in a year in my entire life."
The cleaning lady seemed to be the most reserved one. She probably never imagined that the girl she helped at the beginning would now become a big star that everyone is paying attention to.
Su Yin had already walked to her aunt's side. Her expression and tone were no different from before.
She never changed because of her status: "Auntie, you look much better? Are you doing well after returning home?"
"Yeah." Auntie slowly regained her composure and was no longer so nervous. "I'm doing pretty well. Although the salary isn't high, the pressure is much less. My children's grades are also good. I'm doing well. I didn't expect you still remember me."
"Of course," Su Yin took a deep breath, "You have shown me such precious kindness."
Lin Xuan'er and her distant cousin were already sitting together.
The other party has indeed changed a lot since then.
She had a soothing aura. Lin Xuaner smiled and said gently, "I never got around to saying you were so cool back then."
"You're the same," she said, even though they hadn't seen each other for so long. "You're doing better than the rest of us now. I'm really happy to see you like this. Honestly, you're even cooler than me. After all, you're such a good student, and you actually managed to get a talent show."
"Yeah," Lin Xuan'er recalled, thinking that others might have considered her a cool person. She liked the feeling. It would be even better if the power of this role model could encourage more people to pursue their dreams. "I just think it would be a shame to live without trying anything. Fortunately, I persevered."
The most relatively speechless people were Wang Xingrui and her former deskmate.
The other person's face had obviously undergone plastic surgery. The cute glasses were gone, replaced by blue contact lenses.
She had heavy makeup on her face, as if she was wearing a thick mask.
Wang Xingrui really didn't recognize her. She was no longer the youthful girl in her memory.
"You, did you go to study in another place later?" Wang Xingrui decided to break the deadlock herself.
She regretted mentioning the other person. She was worried that her words would disturb the other person's life.
The girl nodded, then said seriously, "Can I smoke?"
"That probably won't work," Wang Xingrui said, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. The man's behavior was very similar to many of her classmates. Most of them didn't even graduate from high school, choosing to work in coastal cities.
They are factory girls, shampoo girls, and sales clerks in small shops that netizens don’t care about.
They seemed to have walked out of the mountains, but after going around in circles, they still could not escape the fate of mediocrity.
Wang Xingrui felt like crying. She knew that if she had not met Zhou Yiyang, who had a keen eye for talent, she might be the same as him now.
"Okay," the girl said, glancing at her nails, which were thickly coated with cheap polish and gave off a foul odor. "Actually, I'm really happy to see you doing so well. We're all from the countryside, and I'm really proud that you've made it out there and shown the whole country that we're not that bad."
"Unlike me," the girl raised her head and said with a helpless smile, "I didn't want to continue studying after one year of high school. I followed a sister from the yard south and went to work in a garment factory. You know, those kind of jobs on the assembly line?"
Zhou Yiyang also came over. He actually asked everyone about their wishes and would not force them.
Only this girl asked at the end whether there was any salary.
In fact, she cared about Wang Xingrui very much. She knew what songs she sang and even bought counterfeit clothes of the same style.
But given her current situation, simply reminiscing about the past is not very practical.
Zhou Yiyang watched from the shadows, taking note of this scene. Perhaps one day he could use it in his own work.
"Hey," Wang Xingrui said reluctantly, "Why don't you rent a shop and start a business? It's better than working part-time all the time. If you're short of money, I can lend you some money."
"Why are you so stupid?" The girl placed her hand on the back of Wang Xingrui's hand. "Aren't you afraid that I'm saying all this just to extort money? I'm doing well now. I work in a bar and I get paid well. By the way, the reason I left wasn't what you know."
"What is that?" Wang Xingrui stared at the other person's exaggerated smile, as if she could see the huge sadness hidden in it.
"I left because my parents were walking on the road and were hit and killed by a falling sign. Don't you think this way of dying is ridiculous?" As she spoke, tears fell from her eyes, but she still had a smile on her face.
