Chapter 132 Inexplicable Thoughts

Wang Qiang looked at me in horror, stopped roaring, and shouted, "I knock!"

I heard it, but without hesitation I swung my crutch again and hit his right leg hard, squeezing out two words from between my teeth: "Too late!"

ah--

Wang Qiang's screams once again pierced the night sky.

This scream, filled with endless pain... echoed in the cold air.

Hearing this voice, my tense nerves seemed to be relieved a little, and I pursed my lips subconsciously... Then, I slowly turned my head, my eyes first fell on Chang Yue, and then turned to Ye Yao who was stopped by Zhu Wei... I saw them looking at me, and their eyes were as if they were looking at a stranger.

I don't know why, but when I saw their eyes like that, a complex emotion welled up in my heart...

I grinned, then reached out and put my arm around Chang Yue's shoulders and said, "Let's go."

When Zhu Wei heard what I said, he turned sideways and let go of Ye Yao who was blocking him.

Ye Yao rushed to my side quickly.

She stood in front of me, raised her head, locked her eyes with mine, and said slowly with trembling lips, "Lin Yu...you make me feel so strange."

I lowered my eyes and looked at her for a moment... After a few seconds of silence, I nodded slightly and uttered two words: "Yeah, I think so too." Then, I gently pulled her arm... and said in an unquestionable firm tone: "Let's go! I'll take you home!" Ye Yao was obviously stunned for a moment... but did not resist at all.

Chang Yue stood aside, watching the scene quietly. She did not stop him, but said softly, "Then go ahead. I'll wait for you at the hotel."

I nodded slightly in response.

Soon, Daniu started the car, sped along, and stopped steadily in front of Ye Yao's house.

Ye Yao sat in the car, but showed no intention of getting out. She slowly turned her head, looked straight at me, and asked, "Don't you think you were a little too harsh today? What if he calls the police?"

I spread my hands and nonchalantly responded, "He was the one who called for help first, and they were the ones who rushed up with the iron bars first... There's a surveillance camera downstairs at the Old Li Qing Bar, and that angle was perfect for capturing everything... This was legitimate self-defense."

After hearing this, Ye Yao sighed and was silent for a long time before speaking again: "Can you... stop doing this? I'm really scared."

I met her gaze and said seriously, "If I see another man treat you like he did, I will definitely do the same thing again!"

"So your behavior today was because he almost pulled me to the ground, right?" Ye Yao asked, then smiled and said, "You still love me very much...right?"

"All of that," I paused, then added, "and the word 'crippled' he said."

"Is it because that incident left a shadow on you, so you have changed psychologically and acted so drastically?" Ye Yao stared at me, her eyes full of concern.

"I don't know." I avoided her gaze and said in a low voice.

Ye Yao tilted her head slightly and kept looking at me.

Suddenly, she leaned forward, swooping towards me. She stretched out her arms and hugged me tightly, leaning against my chest. Instantly, my heartbeat sped up, thumping against my chest. Looking at the familiar face so close, I recalled every little detail of our past. It had been ages since I'd seen her this close.

As if possessed by a ghost, I lowered my head and pressed my lips against hers... Ye Yao was slightly startled, and then began to respond to me... The familiar feeling instantly overwhelmed me, and I immersed myself in it, unable to let go for a long time... My hands seemed to have their own consciousness, and habitually wandered gently over her body.

Time passed minute by minute, and after a long time, Ye Yao slowly let go of me and said with a complicated expression: "Thank you for sending me back. Lin Yu...you must think twice before doing anything in the future, understand?"

I looked at her and nodded.

"And..." Ye Yao bit her lip and continued, "Do you have a chance to wear the sneakers I gave you again?"

"Maybe." I said after hesitating for a while.

"Then get well soon. I want to see you play basketball... I want to see you do that phantom step layup again. It's really handsome... really handsome." As she spoke, Ye Yao's eyes became moist again. She opened the car door, got out, and said to me, "If you really can't get better, that's okay. I have one request: when you have time, please look back at me, okay? You're walking so fast... so fast that I can't catch up... Now you're limping. If there's a next time... could you wait for me for a little while, even just a moment?"

After saying this, Ye Yao seemed to have exhausted all her strength, turned around, and walked slowly and heavily towards her home.

I said to her back, "Ye Yao! Don't you know you can't give her shoes?"

Ye Yao turned her head...with tears in her eyes, smiled sweetly at me, then nodded...and turned back again, this time she ran.

I sat in the car, my eyes following her back, watching her raise her hand to wipe away her tears, her arm rising and falling slightly, each stroke like a heavy blow to my heart...

At that moment, an indescribable bitterness welled up in my heart, and a deep sense of self-doubt washed over me. I kept asking myself, what on earth could have made her love me so deeply? Was it just because I was her first love?

I knew very well that Ye Yao's words had a hidden meaning. She was subtly saying that things between Lin Mengxi and I developed too quickly, and not long after that, Chang Yue came into my life again... She had no time to react.
