The tenth day..
At noon, I drove to Lin Mengxi's city.
The scenery outside the car window kept receding...but my mind was not at all on the scenery along the way.
After arriving, I picked some fresh fruits from the fruit shop downstairs in the hospital, and walked into the inpatient building carrying the fruit basket... It's a good hospital as expected, the corridor was so quiet that it was a bit depressing.
I walked lightly and slowly opened the door of the ward.
The ward was silent and quiet... Only Lin Mengxi was lying quietly on the bed... Her face was as pale as paper, and both wrists were wrapped in gauze... It was heartbreaking to see... At this moment, she was looking quietly out the window, as if she was lost in some kind of thought.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, she didn't even turn her head..but just spit out one word coldly: "Get out, Lin Feng, I don't want to see you!"
I was a little angry at first...but when I saw her weak appearance, the words that were on the tip of my tongue were swallowed back in an instant.
I suppressed my inner emotions, took a deep breath, and tried to make my voice sound calm and gentle: "It's me."
Lin Mengxi turned her head suddenly, her eyes full of surprise, her voice trembling unconsciously, with a hint of disbelief: "Your leg is healed? You...why are you here?"
I walked to the sofa, sat down slowly, picked up an apple and a fruit knife, and peeled the apple gently. Each time I peeled it, it was like I was calming the waves in my heart.
I said, "You're almost healed. You can walk normally, but you can't jump around like a zombie anymore... I heard about your situation from Zhu Wei, so I came to see you."
Lin Mengxi struggled to sit up, tears instantly streaming down her pale cheeks. Her voice was thick with sobs: "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, Lin Yu."
I paused, my hands still moving. All those suppressed emotions couldn't help but surge up at this moment. I said, "What's the point? What happened can't be changed."
"Then what do you want me to do? No matter how you want me to compensate you, I'm willing to do it." Her eyes were full of guilt.
I smiled bitterly, shook my head, and said softly, "It's not that you feel sorry for me, and I don't need any compensation from you.. Besides, everything is too late.. Some things, once they happen, can never be undone."
Just then...the door was pushed open with a creaky sound.
I turned around and saw Lin Feng slowly walking in... He was still the same as the first time I met him... His every move exuded an elegant temperament.
But at this moment... in my eyes, his elegance seems particularly hypocritical.
I smiled at him and said through gritted teeth, "Long time no see, Master Lin."
Lin Feng merely glanced at me, his eyes filled with disdain. It was obvious that he had known I was here for a long time… He said casually, “You’re quite lucky… It’s a shame you’re still alive.”
"Yes, thanks to you... my experience during this period has been so 'wonderful' and exciting, enough to write a novel." I responded without showing any weakness.
Lin Feng laughed: "Have you finished your novel? Let me see it. It would be a shame if you haven't finished it. I won't have the chance to write it in the future."
Lin Mengxi suddenly yelled at Lin Feng, "Lin Feng, get out! Get out!" She rushed over, grabbed the knife from my hand, and quickly put it to her neck, shouting, "If you dare to hurt him again, try it and see if you can save me this time!"
Lin Feng and I were both stunned.
A blood mark instantly appeared on her fair neck, and blood slowly flowed... The bright red blood dripping onto the ground was particularly glaring.
Lin Feng nervously stretched out his hand. His expression instantly became panicked. He said, "Sister...don't get excited. Put the knife down first!"
"Lin Mengxi! Put down the knife!" I also yelled.
At this moment, my heart seemed to be jumping out of my throat, and my eyes were fixed on the knife in her hand, afraid that she would do something stupid again. All of this actually had nothing to do with her.
Lin Mengxi's tears flowed down her face, she cried heartbreakingly, and said, "I'm sorry, Lin Yu, I'm sorry... I can't face you. It's all my fault. It's my fault that you are like this." Her voice was filled with endless pain and self-blame, and every word seemed to be cutting my heart.
"I have never blamed you. Just put the knife down." I spoke softly, trying to make my voice sound calm. I slowly approached her, not daring to take my eyes off her for a moment.
"Sister, put down the knife... everything is fine. I won't do anything to him again. I will listen to you in the future... okay." Lin Feng was also persuading anxiously, with beads of sweat already appearing on his forehead.
Lin Mengxi was still crying... She was choking with sobs and wanted to say something but couldn't. She closed her eyes... Tears kept flowing and the blood kept flowing more and more.
However, I could see that the wound did not cut the throat and there was no immediate danger to his life. But even so, my heart was still in a knot.
"Mengxi... I really don't blame you. This time I came here, not only to see you, but also to talk to your brother... to resolve our hatred." I walked to a place half a step away from her, spoke slowly, and stared at her closely... trying to make her believe what I said.
Lin Mengxi opened her eyes. Tears still welled up in them as she asked doubtfully, "Really? Really?"
I nodded, and when she relaxed her guard, I quickly snatched the fruit knife from her hand...
Then, without hesitation, I turned around and used all my strength to stab Lin Feng in the stomach...
