Chapter 19: With you by my side all the way... I'm willing to endure a little hardship.

I finally took off my clothes slowly, and the purple bruises on my body caused by the iron rod were exposed. They were one piece at a time and looked quite shocking.

When she saw the bruises, a trace of heartache flashed across her eyes, but she couldn't help complaining. She raised her hand and hit me lightly on the chest, but this time she really didn't have much strength, as if she was scolding me.

Then, she unscrewed the cap of Yunnan Baiyao and carefully sprayed the medicine on the bruise. After spraying, she stretched out her fingers to gently spread the medicine evenly, for fear of hurting me.

I was watching her focused and serious look from the side, and my heart was like a mixture of emotions, with guilt and touching at the same time. I was a little dazed for a moment and just looked at her quietly.

She frowned, stared at me and asked, "Is there anything on your legs?"

When I heard that, I quickly waved my hands and said hastily, "No, no." I thought to myself, how can I take off my pants? It's so embarrassing.

"I forgive you this time because it happened for a reason, but there won't be a next time!"

Xia Jie hurried to help me explain and said, "Sister-in-law, you really can't blame Lin Yu this time."

"Yes, yes, it's all our fault. If it weren't for us, things wouldn't have turned out like this."

After hearing this, Meng Xi's expression softened a bit and she said, "I know, don't blame yourself too much."

Then, she looked at me again, her tone becoming gentler, and said, "You haven't eaten yet, so hurry up and put on your clothes and eat something! No drinking!"

I nodded quickly, put on my clothes, reached out to open my lunch box, and took a look. It was full of beef and chicken. I looked at their lunch boxes and only Zhu Wei had it.

I understood instantly that this must have been specially prepared for me by Meng Xi. My heart warmed and I couldn't help but laugh, muttering, "My wife is still the best!"

When Meng Xi heard this, her face flushed instantly and she scolded, "Who is your wife?"

I quickly responded with a smile: "Okay, okay, I spoke too quickly and said the wrong thing."

Then he pulled her to sit on the stool.

After dinner, Mengxi and Xuxi stood up to leave. Mengxi walked to the door, turned around and said to me, "Go to bed early today, and come and sing for me tomorrow with your broken guitar!"

I nodded quickly, saying repeatedly, "Okay, okay, go slower."

Watching their figures gradually disappear into the distance, I felt quite reluctant to let them go.

Zhu Wei looked at me from the side, smiled, and teased me, "You! Act well. I can see that this little girl is not really angry. If she was really angry, she wouldn't have come here."

"I know. I know."

Afterwards, I endured the pain in my body and took a shower. The shower process was so painful. When the hot water hit the wound, it felt like a needle prick.

After taking a shower, I lay on the bed exhausted, turned on my phone, and looked through some previous records. All the little details related to Ye Yao suddenly came to my mind. I hesitated for a moment, but finally made up my mind and deleted all the memories of Ye Yao.

After deleting it, I couldn't help but feel a surge of inexplicable heartache in my heart. After all, we had a story in the past. But then I thought, now I just have to be good to Mengxi, and let the past be the past.

I suddenly slapped my head and remembered that the last time I accidentally saw Mengxi’s ID card, I noticed that her birthday was in a month.

When I thought of this, I immediately started to worry. I calculated in my mind that I only had 500 yuan left. Even if I didn't eat or drink this month, my mother would give me another 1,000 yuan for living expenses next month, but the total would only be 1,500 yuan. I felt that it was still too little to buy her a birthday gift. I had to give her a decent gift at least.

As I was thinking about it, I subconsciously glanced at the guitar in the corner. I had an idea in my mind, so I stood up and walked to the balcony, took out my cell phone and called my high school classmate Yang Ming.

After the phone rang a few times, it was connected and his dazed voice came through: "What are you doing?"

"Are you asleep? Do you still want my guitar?"

Hearing this, he immediately perked up, his voice rising a few notches as he asked, "Have you thought it through? Are you willing to sell it?"

I gritted my teeth and said, "I'll give you two thousand."

"Are you trying to take advantage of me? How can I sell it like this? It's too expensive."

"I've been busy lately and need money urgently. Otherwise, I wouldn't be willing to sell it. I've only owned it for less than a year."

"I only bought your guitar for 3,800 yuan, and now you're selling it to me for 2,000 yuan. You're really too cruel. If I didn't have so little money myself, I wouldn't be interested in your second-hand guitar."

I quickly begged him, "Please help me. You know, this guitar of mine is really good. The tone and everything else are great. It's definitely worth the price."

He hesitated for a moment, then said, "Considering we've been classmates for three years, let's say 1,800 yuan. Even that's too expensive for me. If you sell your guitar anywhere else, it would only be a little over 1,000 yuan at most."

I gritted my teeth. Although I was extremely reluctant, when I thought of Mengxi's birthday present, I still said with all my heart, "Okay! I'll give it to you next month!"

“OK.”

I thought that as long as I could scrape together enough money to buy Mengxi a good gift, it would be worth it no matter what I did.

Lying in bed, I was thinking about whether I should find a part-time job?

On second thought, I decided to forget it. It would be bad if I was discovered, and I wouldn’t have time to accompany Mengxi.

A message came from Mengxi's phone: Stop playing and go to sleep! It included an emoji of someone pointing their hand out in command.

I replied: Okay, as you say, good night!

She just replied with a cute emoji.
