Chapter 23: I don't know where I came from, I don't know where I live

After the party, Ye Yao and I walked hand in hand on the roadside.

I held a large bouquet of roses in my arms and said to her with a bit of helplessness, "Why did you buy this? How am I going to take it back to the dormitory? It's so embarrassing."

After hearing this, she put on a playful smile and ran in front of me. She put her hands behind her back and said as she backed away, "Just say it was a gift from me. What's the big deal?"

I curled my lips and retorted, "How can a girl give a boy flowers? At least that's not what I see in the idol dramas I watch."

Ye Yao, however, didn't care at all. She smiled and said, "Then I'm the first one. It doesn't matter. As long as I can be with you, everything is worth it. I'm not afraid even if it means embarrassment, hehe."

"Why do you like me?"

"I noticed you a long time ago and thought you were very charming on the court. Later, we worked together and spent more time together. I got to know you better and liked you more and more."

After hearing this, I rolled my eyes. That’s it?

Ye Yao looked at my expression, stopped, hesitated for a moment, looked at me with a firm look, and spoke softly.

“Love is a word whose origin and destination are unknown.”

"That's probably how I feel about you. Unconsciously, this feeling was born. My heart and eyes are filled with you. I don't care about the reason. I just know that I like you and want to be with you."

After listening to Ye Yao's words, I was deeply moved and nodded involuntarily. Then I reached out and gently hugged her.

On this quiet and slightly warm street, I slowly lowered my head and kissed Ye Yao's lips, and she immediately responded to me enthusiastically, putting her arms around my neck. At that moment, it seemed as if the whole world was left with only the sound of each other's heartbeats and this affectionate kiss.

In the first year or so, that sweetness was engraved in my bones.

On weekdays, we walk together on the campus paths.

If I have a basketball game on the weekend, Ye Yao will definitely arrive early, prepare water and towels, and cheer for me at the top of her lungs.

During the holidays, the carefully prepared little gifts are full of love, and the notes filled with love words are treasured in a box.

And many more…

When I reached my third year of high school and the academic pressure grew, conflicts emerged like a surging undercurrent.

Ye Yao's eyes were red, and she clenched her fists and shouted at me: "Can't you just try harder? You don't care about our future at all!"

I stiffened my neck and replied hoarsely, "What do you know? I can't do it! Don't embarrass me! I don't even know my own limitations!"

Ye Yao was filled with disappointment and anger. The sweetness of the past disappeared at this moment and she ran out crying.

After this time, there was indeed some distance between us, whether we were willing to admit it or not.

For the sake of her studies, Ye Yao quit her weekend job and devoted herself to studying.

I didn't stop it, but I still worked there.

One weekend, Ye Yao asked me out, and I happily asked for leave from Lao Li (the boss). Lao Li said with a smile.

"Go quickly, just comfort them, you two kids, really are."

When I arrived at the place where Ye Yao had agreed to meet me, I looked at her without saying a word.

Ye Yao took my hand and said, "What's wrong? Are you blaming me for ignoring you for so long? Are you angry?"

I quickly explained: "No, I just found you beautiful again."

Ye Yao smiled and hit me. "You're just good at talking nonsense. You can't do anything else. Let's go to the skating rink, then watch a movie, eat something, and relax for a day."

We went to the skating rink, held hands and skated around, then went to the cinema to watch a movie and eat. It was very late.

As soon as I entered the room, I looked at her, and all the emotions that had accumulated in my heart during this period of time suddenly surged up. I couldn't help but put my arms around her, and she responded to me. The room was full of an ambiguous atmosphere.

After everything calmed down, she lay lazily in my arms, her face flushed, and she gently scolded me, "Are you in such a hurry?"

I smiled, then picked up a cigarette and lit it: "It's very urgent."

She hit me, then hugged me and said, "I don't want to think too much. It's not difficult for you. As long as you stay with me, it's fine. When I get into college, if you don't, you can come and stay with me. Find a class nearby! It doesn't matter what you do, whether it's delivering food or singing, just stay with me. When I graduate and find a good job, we will get married and you can be a househusband at home."

I hesitated, and it all came back to me.

I said happily: "Okay, what if I get admitted to another university."

She rolled her eyes at me, the meaning was self-evident: "Just you?"

I didn't care about her slightly disgusted look, I just laughed and felt happy at the moment.

The room was filled with love that night. We were immersed in each other's love, enjoying this rare and beautiful time to the fullest. The passion was endless, as if we wanted to express all the love we had during this period in this one night.

The next afternoon, Ye Yao and I walked out of the hotel. After dinner, I was about to go to work. Ye Yao said, "I'll take you there, and then back to school."

I nodded. "Okay."

As soon as I entered the bar, Li Min, the new receptionist, greeted me with a smile: "Lin Yu, you're here so early."

I took Ye Yao's hand and responded politely: "Yes."

Li Min looked at Ye Yao and said, "Is this your girlfriend? She's so beautiful."

Ye Yao responded politely: "You are beautiful too."

Then I said to Li Min, "I'm going in."
