Chapter 25 The feeling of home

Ye Yao's father looked at me and said with a smile: "Have a drink with me. I never asked you to drink with me when you came home to school before. Now that the college entrance examination is over, it's okay to drink a little."

When I heard that, I quickly waved my hands and responded, "I have to go back soon, so I won't drink anymore, uncle."

"It's okay, man. Don't go back today. If you drink too much, just sleep here. We are all family. The room has been cleaned up long ago. Don't worry, just be comfortable."

Ye Yao smiled and said, "I won't say anything if you drink too much today. Go ahead and drink."

Seeing that I couldn't refuse, I had to pick up the wine, first respectfully filled her father's glass, and then poured myself a glass.

When her mother saw this, her face was full of smiles, and she said cheerfully, "Come on, our family is all here today, let's have a drink."

When Ye Yao heard this, she stood up happily with a happy smile on her face.

After hearing this, I felt warm in my heart, as if I were really considered a part of this family.

Then, everyone raised their glasses and shouted in unison, "Cheers!"

Her father put down his glass, a look of concern on his face, and then asked, "How did you do on the exam?"

I was standing aside, slowly lowering my head, feeling a little lost, and said truthfully: "Uncle, I didn't do well in the exam, but Ye Yao did well."

After hearing what I said, her father was silent for a moment, then nodded, with a gentle smile on his face, and began to comfort me: "As long as you are willing to make progress, it will be fine. As a person, don't steal or rob, and be honest."

Then he said, "You two have been together for two years now. I am very satisfied with your personality, but this girl has been spoiled by me since she was a child. Sometimes she is inevitably willful. If you get married in the future, you have to be more tolerant of her."

"No, Ye Yao has a good personality and is very likable."

Ye Yao listened from the side, snorted softly, and looked at her parents, as if to say "Did you hear that?", with a somewhat smug look on her face.

At this time, her mother looked at me and asked with concern: "So what are you going to do next?"

I scratched my head and replied sheepishly, "I haven't thought about it yet. I haven't had time to plan yet."

Her father listened, thought for a moment, and then suggested, "Why don't you learn to drive a truck with me? It's a bit tiring, but you can earn tens of thousands of yuan a month. When you graduate from college, you two can get married and live a stable life."

When Ye Yao heard what her father said, she immediately said anxiously: "Dad, I want Lin Yu to accompany me to college and work near my school. We'll talk about it after I graduate!" After saying that, she looked in my direction.

I didn't say anything, feeling a little hesitant, not knowing how to express my opinion.

After hearing what Ye Yao said, her father lowered his head and thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "That's fine. You two just need to live your own lives well. We don't ask for wealth or fame, but we just want to have a clear conscience. If you have any problems, just call us. I only have a girl like you. When you get married, I will give you a down payment for a house as a dowry."

When Ye Yao heard this, a bright smile instantly broke out on her face. She was so happy that she quickly picked up her chopsticks and picked up a piece of food for her father, saying, "Dad, you are so nice!"

Her mother, watching this scene from the side, also laughed. Then, turning to look at me, she said earnestly, "Xiao Lin, you seem a little disappointed, but it's really okay. Everyone has setbacks. Even if you have nothing now, as long as you are down-to-earth and take one step at a time, there will always be something in the future. But don't be too ambitious, and don't be too greedy for pleasure, understand."

Then she continued, "Your uncle couldn't read a single word. At most, he could sort the boys and girls. Otherwise, they couldn't even use the restroom. When I married your uncle, our family didn't even have a decent tile, and the new house leaked. Later, we worked hard together to build this house. Although we're not rich, I'm very satisfied."

Ye Yao's father looked at me and said, "Okay, don't talk about me. I think Lin Yu is very good. I am optimistic about him."

Ye Yao pouted and said proudly, "I have good taste. But when I confessed to him, this silly boy was very stupid and didn't know how to speak. It made me very embarrassed. I want to beat him up just thinking about it." Then she looked at me with gritted teeth.

After seeing her appearance, Ye Yao's parents laughed, and I laughed too.

I said to the two elders: "Uncle and aunt, I understand your painstaking efforts!"

Afterwards, we finished the meal in a lively atmosphere. My heart was filled with warmth and I felt very comfortable.

I wasn't actually drunk and was still sober, but her father was a little drunk and was even staggering when he walked.

Seeing this, I quickly stood up and supported her father, fearing that he might fall.

Her mother watched from the side and couldn't help but complain: "Hey, let him drink less. He's always like this. When he's happy, he can't control the amount."

Ye Yao smiled and said, "It's okay, Mom. We're all together as a family and we're happy. It's okay to drink too much. There are no outsiders around. It would be a problem if we were outside." After saying that, she turned her head and glared at me. I immediately understood what she meant, because I often drank too much outside before, and she often talked to me about it. I guess she remembered those things at this moment, so she used this look to "warn" me again.

Ye Yao's mother enthusiastically took me to the room arranged for me. As soon as I entered, I saw that the bed had already been covered with brand new sheets and quilts. It looked clean and tidy, which made people feel particularly warm in their hearts.
