Once you enter the town, it's bustling with activity, and the streets are lined with stalls selling all sorts of small items.
Lin Mengxi's eyes lit up as if she had discovered a treasure. Every time she passed a stall, she would open her eyes wide and move closer to take a look curiously. She looked like a child who was attracted by new things and couldn't move.
In a short while, she bought a lot of small items, such as exquisite hairpins, cute little pendants, etc., and stuffed them all into my hands. I was carrying the large and small bags behind me, and my arms were so tired that I couldn't help complaining: "You bought so much, that's enough."
Lin Mengxi turned her head, snorted at me, and replied with a pout: "Don't worry about it, I just want to buy it, I am happy to do so."
After walking a little further, she suddenly stopped in front of a stall and excitedly called out to me, "Hey, little Mu Tou, look, this is fun!"
I leaned over to take a closer look and found that it was the kind of handprints made by couples, where they would press their palms on a special clay tablet to leave a unique mark as a souvenir.
I took a look at it and thought it was quite childish. I had no interest in it and said casually, "Boring!"
Lin Mengxi seemed to be unaware of the implication and refused to give in. She grabbed my arm, shook it, and said, "Come on, for the sake of our friendship, let's do one too!"
I waved my hands repeatedly and said firmly, "No."
When Lin Mengxi heard this, she put her hands on her waist, raised her eyebrows, and shouted in a loud voice: "Are you coming?"
"Come on!"
After about half an hour, the finished handprint was handed to me.
I looked at the thing in my hand that had our handprints on it, and sighed helplessly, wondering what I had done. I was really dragged into doing something childish by Lin Mengxi.
Lin Mengxi was still looking at other small items in front of the stall with great interest, her eyes rolling around as if she was looking for treasure.
Suddenly, she saw a pair of key dolls, her eyes lit up instantly, she reached out to pick them up, held them in front of me, and said with a smile: "Little Wood, one for you and one for me."
I frowned and refused directly: "I don't want it."
Lin Mengxi was not happy. She shook the pair of dolls and said expectantly, "This pair looks so pretty. They can be used as keychains. Although I've never used them, I need keys in the dormitory now. It would be fun to hang them on the wall."
When I heard this, I couldn't help but ask in confusion: "You haven't used the key?"
Lin Mengxi's eyes dodged for a moment, and she said, "No, I just think this is interesting."
She looked so unnatural when she was lying that anyone with a discerning eye could tell she was lying. The little girl's lying skills were really poor. Her excuses were full of loopholes and I knew they were unreliable as soon as I heard them.
But I didn't intend to expose her. I thought it was better to keep my distance, so I didn't ask any more questions and just let her fiddle with the pair of key dolls.
Lin Mengxi reached out and took my arm, shook it gently, and said, "Let's go. You've been carrying things for so long, it must be very tiring. I, your sister, will not let you come here in vain."
"Whether you came here for nothing or not, you've already come. It's too late to say anything now."
When Lin Mengxi heard this, she immediately snorted, stopped, tilted her head, and asked with a scrutinizing look in her eyes, "Then you regret it."
I quickly waved my hands and said without hesitation: "No, it's my honor to have a fairy accompany me. How many people envy me?"
Lin Mengxi then smiled with satisfaction, her smile as brilliant as a blooming flower. She let go of my arm, took my hand, and pulled me forward, saying happily, "Come on, let's go get something to eat. I have to treat you well today."
She took me to the hotel where Zhu Wei had treated us last time. As soon as I stepped through the grand entrance, my heart started beating fast. I murmured nervously, "Is this place too expensive?"
She kept walking, turned her head to look at me, and replied nonchalantly, "I just brought you here to replenish your energy. Look at you, you usually eat those useless things. You have to improve yourself today."
I smiled awkwardly and opened my mouth, not knowing what to say in response.
Afterwards, the waiter led us to a corner and sat us down. The surrounding environment was quite quiet. After a while, the dishes came up one after another, filling up the table. It was so rich, with a combination of meat and vegetables, which looked particularly tempting.
Lin Mengxi looked at my stunned expression and couldn't help but laugh out loud. She urged me with a smile, "What are you looking at? Don't worry, you don't have to pay today, just eat as much as you want."
When I heard that, the embarrassment on my face became even worse. I scratched my head, still not knowing what to say. I just felt uncomfortable all over.
Seeing my embarrassment, Lin Mengxi simply stood up, walked over to sit next to me, picked up the chopsticks, picked up a large and plump shrimp, and stuffed it directly into my mouth, muttering: "Eat it quickly, why are you standing there? It will get cold if you don't eat it now."
I quickly swallowed the food in my mouth. Looking at Lin Mengxi's enthusiasm, I couldn't resist it, so I said, "You don't have to be so enthusiastic."
When Lin Mengxi heard this, she put down her chopsticks, crossed her arms, frowned slightly and said, "You're just too restrained. It's just a meal, and you're so shy."
I felt bad after hearing what she said, and said, "No, I just feel like I owe you."
Lin Mengxi's eyes widened immediately, her face full of confusion. She raised her voice and asked, "What do you owe me? Where did you get that from?"
I sighed helplessly, lowered my eyes to look at the table, and said slowly, "I'm afraid I can't pay you back, and I feel really bad about it."
