Chapter 83 Then I’ll really leave.

"What's wrong? Sister Xue."

"I'm going to work the day after tomorrow. I just called Lao Meng and he told me that I plan to book a train ticket for tomorrow." Yang Xue said.

"Okay, what about Auntie?"

Yang Xue sighed on the other end of the phone: "There's no other way. She asked me to leave. Otherwise, I won't be able to pay for next year's tuition. Not only did I spend money this time, but I also wasted so much time. I can't stay any longer."

I felt sorry for her for a bit. I slowly said, "Actually, I just got home too. Let's talk about it tomorrow."

"Are you in your hometown?" she asked with a little surprise, probably because she didn't expect me to come back.

I walked to the window, opened the curtains, and immediately caught sight of something in the corner. I said, "Yes, I have something to deal with. Let's talk about it tomorrow. I'm hanging up now." Without waiting for her response, I hung up the phone.

Then he stared at the worn-out guitar in the corner.

This guitar... was given to me by my father when I first started learning guitar... I was young at that time and didn’t know what was good or bad. I just knew that I was very happy to have my own guitar.

Later, as I gradually understood some of the tricks, I felt that it was too bad. After all, it only cost a few hundred dollars at the time. Later, I replaced it with two better guitars, but I eventually sold both of them. Only this one has remained here, as if it carries all my earliest memories of guitar along the way.

Although the strings are rusty, it looks quite worn out.

"Change the strings and keep playing. It's almost there, but companionship is the most lasting confession of love."

I was talking to myself as I started looking for tools. I did it right away. After some effort, I changed all the strings on the guitar and tried to play it for a while.

I called Chang Yue and the call was connected not long after.

"I'm wearing a face mask." Chang Yue's somewhat vague voice came from the receiver. It was probably because she was wearing a face mask and it was not convenient for her to speak.

I smiled and said, "Want to listen to some music? Any song you want... I just finished fixing my guitar."

Chang Yue hummed, paused, and slowly said, "Then let's sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I want to hear something sweet."

I said yes, then gently plucked the strings and started singing.

"...You...are my little star...I have decided to love you...and I won't give up easily..." I tried to keep my voice soft.

Unexpectedly, suddenly, my father roared with full force: "Why are you not sleeping at night and making love with me? What are you crazy about?" The voice was particularly clear in the quiet night.

I stopped moving instantly, my forehead was full of black lines, and I remained silent.

After a while, I heard him close the door. He must have gone to the bathroom... I was speechless.

After a while... Chang Yue burst out laughing... and whispered thieflyly, "You must have been scolded. You're not as good at singing sweet love songs as you are at singing sad ones, but it's still pretty good."

I said helplessly, "My voice doesn't allow it, so I can only sing some sad songs."

"Okay, go to sleep, or you'll disturb your parents' rest." Chang Yue advised with a smile.

"Okay, good night then. I'll come over tomorrow."

"Okay, good night. I'll pick you up tomorrow."

After hanging up the phone...I felt much better when I heard Chang Yue's voice. I stopped thinking about it and fell asleep in a daze.

..

The next morning after dinner...

I put on my guitar and backpack and prepared to leave. I said something to my mom. She said, "Hurry up and leave. I'm annoyed by the sight of you."

"Then I, your son, will really leave. I will come back to honor you during the Chinese New Year."

"Go away, go away. What are you talking about? I have to wash the dishes. Please don't bother me. I am annoyed just by seeing you now."

After hearing this, I snorted and turned away. I thought...she's just being soft-hearted...can't bear to leave me...if she doesn't want to see me off, then don't. She's just afraid of crying in front of me...I guess I inherited my love of tears from her...As soon as I reached the door...

Dad looked at me from the balcony and called out, "Wait a minute." Then he went downstairs, took out his car keys, and said to me, "It's more convenient to have a car outside. Drive it away. I don't use it much at home anyway."

I hesitated for a while... then I thought about it and realized that my dad and his colleagues worked near home, so they didn't really need a car. The only reason they bought a car was to make it more convenient for visiting relatives and friends during the Chinese New Year.

I took the key and said with a smile, "You've done a great job, old man."

When the old man heard this, he pointed at me, then shook his head helplessly and said, "Kid, I don't know what to say. Oh, it's my fault. I didn't teach you to control your mouth when you were a kid. There are some sausages and some vegetables in the trunk...all prepared by your mother. Go over there and put the sausages away, don't spoil them."

My dad has the personality of a naughty old man, sometimes he is deep and sometimes he is not arrogant at all...so I learned my bad mouth from him. As the saying goes, a tiger father will have a dog son, so I can be said to have inherited his unique skill.

But looking at him now... the few white hairs mixed in with his black hair are particularly noticeable, and the wrinkles on his face are getting more and more. Then I think about how my mother is the same...

The years have left too many marks on them.. My heart ached, thinking that I didn’t want them to worry, but everything I did always made them worry..

My eyes were slightly red. I looked at my father with a serious look in my eyes. He said with a choked voice, "Take good care of yourselves. The New Year is not far away."
