The end is also the beginning

Entering the Public Security Bureau... not far away, a strange yet familiar voice suddenly rang out: "Brother Yu?"

I subconsciously turned my head and my eyes fell on the person behind me. I forced a smile on my face and said, "Qin Chaoyun."

Qin Chaoyun looked at me with confusion and asked, "What are you doing here?"

….

I took a deep breath, calmed my inner tension, and stepped through the door...

I saw Captain Wu standing at his desk, concentrating on organizing documents. He noticed someone coming in and looked up at me. A smile instantly broke out on his face, and he greeted me warmly, "Here comes our great hero. Come and sit down!"

I slowly walked to the chair and sat down, my hands unconsciously rubbing on my knees... After hesitating for a long time, I gritted my teeth, took out a box from my pocket, and threw it on the table with a bang.

Captain Wu was confused by this sudden action. He stared at me and then looked at the box on the table...as if waiting for me to explain what was going on.

My throat tightened and I spoke with difficulty: "A man died in the abandoned factory. It was me. I'm turning myself in."

A hint of surprise flashed across Captain Wu's face. He looked at me deeply, then slowly reached out his hand... and opened the box...

His eyes fell on the electric baton and pistol inside, and he stared at them for a long time, and the air seemed to freeze...

After a long while, he finally said, "Can you give me a reasonable explanation?"

I took a deep breath and told the whole story, from the initial entanglement to the final explosion... without reservation...

As I was telling the story, those bloody scenes and painful memories kept flashing through my mind...I couldn't help but clench my fists.

After listening to this, Captain Wu's eyes were full of regret. He was silent for a long time before slowly saying, "You are too reckless. Is there anything you can't leave to us? Don't you trust me?" There was a sense of disappointment in his tone.

"I didn't distrust you, it's just that at that time... I really couldn't help it." I smiled bitterly.

"Oh, forget it." Captain Wu sighed and continued, "You can try to fight for your situation... Find a lawyer first. Maybe it can be considered self-defense, and you voluntarily surrendered yourself... But you secretly possessed a pistol and a stun gun, which constitutes the crime of possessing firearms... Although we have some friendship, I can't show favoritism."

"I understand... I am willing to accept the sanctions of the law. I can't get over this hurdle in my heart." I lowered my head, my voice low, as if I was talking to Captain Wu... or to myself.

Captain Wu stood up and paced back and forth in the office... His leather shoes made rhythmic tapping sounds on the ground, and each sound seemed to hit my heart... He stopped, turned around and looked at me, his eyes full of complex emotions.

"Although I must follow the procedures... I will do my best to help you obtain the most reasonable outcome." Captain Wu's tone was firm... with a hint of unquestionable strength. "During this time, you must cooperate fully with the investigation and explain every detail clearly... Don't hide anything."

I nodded silently..

At this moment, there was a sudden knock on the office door. A young police officer poked his head in and whispered something in Captain Wu's ear...

Captain Wu's expression changed slightly, and he turned to me and said, "Wait here for a moment. I'll go take care of something."

I sat alone in the office, the silence around me somewhat unnervingly quiet. The wall clock ticked, each tick reminding me of the passage of time and the impending unknown judgment.

I looked at the sky outside the window. The sun was still shining brightly, but my world seemed to have fallen into endless darkness.

Thinking back to the past with Guo Xin, scenes of hatred and anger kept flashing through my mind... I know that my actions may have been too impulsive, but the murderous intent at that moment was ignited by long-standing pain and torture... Now, I can only wait for the judgment of the law and bear the consequences of my actions.

I don’t know how long it took, but Captain Wu pushed the door open and walked in. He looked a little tired... but there was still a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"I've communicated with the higher-ups. Given that you voluntarily surrendered yourself and your previous contributions in helping us fight drug dealers...there will be a relatively fair evaluation." Captain Wu sat back in his chair, looked at me and said.

"Thank you...Captain Wu." I said sincerely...a warm feeling welled up in my heart.

"Next, you will be detained... pending further investigation and interrogation," Captain Wu continued. "Remember, you must remain calm and answer the questions truthfully."

I took a deep breath, stood up, and prepared to face everything that was about to come... When I followed Captain Wu out of the office, the sun shone on my body, but I couldn't feel any warmth... The road ahead is still long, and I don't know what will be waiting for me, but I will face it calmly and be responsible for my choices.

…..

Three years later..

At this moment, I'm standing by the Broken Bridge of West Lake. A gentle breeze blows by, bringing with it the uniquely warm scent of West Lake... I'm holding my guitar, having just finished playing a few songs... Lately, this kind of life has become my daily routine...

Don't get me wrong, I don't make a living by singing... After all, I don't lack the money to make a living.

End of singing...

I drove to an inconspicuous and cheap food stall...

I ordered a few home-cooked dishes and filled my stomach. Just as I was about to get up and leave, a big brother who was eating suddenly turned around and faced me.

His face was flushed, obviously he had drunk quite a bit of wine. His eyes showed a bit of drunkenness and eagerness: "Hey, little brother, I've heard you sing...it's very nice. Can you sing a song live?"
