Chapter 106 Jiangcheng Hospital

After staying in the orphanage for an afternoon, Jiang Suisui reluctantly left with her family.

I had dinner with Kuang Yecheng and Zhou Yue.

At the dining table, candlelight flickered, and the warm yellow glow reflected on everyone's faces.

Kuang Yecheng's presence made Jiang Yan talk a little more than usual.

However, that was only compared to his usual taciturn state.

The conversation was not dense, and the atmosphere of the dinner was mainly created by Gu Zhuoyuan's calm and steady conversation and Gu Yanhe's wit and humor.

Fang Shuyun and Zhou Yue had a very pleasant conversation.

Zhou Yue's cheerful and generous personality was like a breeze, which Fang Shuyun admired very much.

Looking at Gu Shi and Jiang Suisui again, the two little guys were sitting very well at first. After greeting each other, they started to eat.

After tasting it, they spent the rest of the second half of the meal busy showing off the food because it was so delicious!

The two of them ate so much that the corners of their mouths were covered with grease and their cheeks were bulging, just like two greedy little hamsters. The way they wolfed down the food made everyone laugh.

When saying goodbye, Jiang Suisui blinked her big lavender eyes, and like a little adult, she solemnly handed the gifts she had carefully selected and prepared for several days to Kuang Yecheng and Zhou Yue.

Seeing this, the two of them quickly waved their hands to refuse.

Fang Shuyun walked forward with a smile and said softly, "This child has been picking it for several days. It's a token of my heart, no need to feel burdened."

***

The night in Jiangcheng is as thick as ink and so quiet that it is a bit depressing.

I don’t know if it’s because he’s been away from Jiangcheng for too long and hasn’t adapted to the climate there; or if it’s because the whole day of running around has taken a toll on Jiang Suisui’s body.

In short, when everything was quiet, Jiang Suisui gloriously developed a high fever.

Fang Shuyun subconsciously turned over in her sleep, and her arm accidentally touched Jiang Suisui beside her. She felt like she was hugging a hot heater.

She woke up suddenly, startled, and quickly reached out to turn on the bedside lamp.

The dim light swayed and sprinkled on Jiang Suisui's small face. Her cheeks were flushed, her brows were slightly wrinkled, and her breathing was rapid and heavy. Her appearance made people feel distressed.

Fang Shuyun was so frightened that she lost all sleepiness and hurriedly called Gu Zhuoyuan and others.

Jiang Yan carefully held Jiang Suisui in his arms, while Gu Yanhe drove to the hospital.

Jiang Yan sat in the back seat, hugging the whimpering little girl tightly in his arms. Looking at his daughter's red face due to high fever, his brows were furrowed, and his eyes were full of self-blame and regret.

He regretted in his heart, why didn't he bring Tan Xin with him when so many people came.

After Jiang Suisui got an injection in the hospital, her high fever gradually subsided.

The hot cheeks gradually returned to normal, and Jiang Suisui's breathing became steady and slow.

Jiang Yan and Gu Yanhe's tense nerves finally relaxed slightly, and they both breathed a sigh of relief.

Jiang Yan raised his head, looked at Gu Yanhe, and said in a hoarse voice: "You go back and rest first, I'll be here."

Gu Yanhe nodded: "I've called my parents, but they're still worried. I'll go back to the hotel to let them know I'm safe, and bring them over tomorrow to take your place."

Gu Yanhe turned and left, his back gradually disappearing in the hospital corridor.

Jiang Yan slowly sat down beside Jiang Suisui's bed and tucked the corner of Jiang Suisui's quilt.

Then he gently held Jiang Suisui's little hand, as if he was holding the whole world, and in this quiet ward, he silently guarded his most precious baby.

Jiang Yan and Gu Yanhe, whose hearts were all with Jiang Suisui, had no idea that from the moment they stepped into the hospital, a mysterious and chilling figure had been following them like a shadow.

It was the figure of a woman, her face was as pale as paper, without any blood, her long black hair was wet and draped over her shoulders, a few strands of hair were messily stuck to her cheeks, making her face even more gloomy and terrifying.

She held a tattered rag doll tightly in her arms. The doll's eyes were dull and seemed to be telling endless sorrow.

She was wearing a loose hospital gown, the corners of which swayed gently in the wind. Her feet were off the ground, and she was floating silently in the long, silent corridor of the hospital. Every movement seemed to bring a chill from the underworld.

The wandering woman saw Gu Yanhe, and in an instant, a barely perceptible light seemed to flash in her originally lifeless eyes, like a faint phosphorescence in the darkness.

She began to circle around Gu Yanhe non-stop, her movements mechanical yet filled with some indescribable persistence.

Her eyes were always fixed on Gu Yanhe, as if there was something in him that could attract her deep into her soul.

However, when Gu Yanhe's figure gradually disappeared outside the hospital gate, she seemed to be blocked by an invisible boundary and could not take a single step out of the hospital.

Her figure paused for a moment at the hospital door, and her empty eyes revealed a hint of helplessness and loss.

Then, she silently floated back to Jiang Suisui's ward.

She stood quietly in the corner of the ward, staring blankly at Jiang Yan and his daughter.

To be precise, he was looking at Jiang Suisui who was sleeping soundly, with a questioning look in his eyes.
