Chapter 84 New Year's Gifts, Wounded Soldiers

Lu Zeqi took out ten red envelopes from the inside pocket of his coat and walked over in a particularly generous manner.

Lü Zeqi: "Happy New Year, kids! Want some red envelopes?"

Tao Xiaolu saw it when he took out the red envelope, and her eyes never left it: "Thank you, brother!"

Seeing that Tao Xiaolu was reluctant to put down the duck rack but also really wanted the red envelope, Chi Wei reluctantly put down his phone, took the red envelope and put it in Tao Xiaolu's pajama pocket. Because they were staying at home and not going out, the kids hadn't changed their clothes.

Tao Xiaolu's eyes narrowed with joy as he watched the red envelope disappear into his pocket.

After giving Tao Xiaolu his share, Chi Wei politely accepted his own: "Thank you, Brother Lü! Thank you, Brother Zhou!"

Pi Yuan accepted the money politely. He wasn't particularly interested in money, since no one in his family was poor and he wasn't lacking anything from Bai Hao. However, the money came at a good time, as he was looking to buy toys and firecrackers for the upcoming New Year, and he really needed them. So Pi Yuan gladly accepted it.

Xuan Yu and Teng Xue smiled and thanked them, readily accepting the red envelopes.

Murong Xue looked at the five children, each receiving two red envelopes, and asked in confusion, "It's not New Year's greeting time, why are you bringing red envelopes with your New Year's gifts?"

Lu Zeqi felt a pang of pain in his liver upon hearing this. In fact, this was just a small gift of a red envelope, but it had been delayed until now because there wasn't enough of it!

Lü Zeqi: "It was just a coincidence."

Murong Xue gave a soft snort. Of course she knew why; she was just teasing Lü Zeqi on purpose. Who told him to sneak away with her cousin without a word!

Murong Xue chuckled and took out five red envelopes from her coat pocket, one for each of the children. Before coming this morning, she had heard Zhou Miao say that Lü Zeqi had been holding back for a long time to give the children red envelopes as a greeting gift, and that he would definitely give them out this time. She thought that she hadn't given any yet, so she prepared them to bring along as well.

Upon seeing this, the five children looked at each other and said in unison, "Thank you, Fairy Sister, Happy New Year!"

Murong Xue was overjoyed to hear the fairy sister's name called her; being with the boys made her so happy!

Bai Muqiu suddenly felt that the duck neck in his hand didn't taste good anymore. He never cared about these holidays and never thought about preparing anything. But this was just New Year's Day, at most the New Year's Eve, so why did everyone prepare red envelopes?

After receiving Murong Xue's red envelope, the five kids looked at Qin Nan. They had given up on Bai Hao and the others, but Qin Nan still had a good chance.

Qin Nan was quite puzzled when he saw all the peerless eyes staring at him. Actually, last night Bai Hao had discussed the red envelopes with him and asked him to put the red envelopes Bai Hao had prepared under the children's pillows. Qin Nan didn't understand why, but he did as he was told. He had completely forgotten about it when he woke up this morning, and now he understood why.

Qin Nan: "Under your pillows."

Upon hearing this, Tao Xiaolu finished the duck carcass in a whirlwind, took off his disposable gloves, and was eager to rush upstairs, but he was stopped in his tracks by the disdainful looks from the other four kids.

Tao Xiaolu could only wait, feeling wronged, as the others slowly finished eating their food before going upstairs together.

Bai Muqiu gestured for Zhou Miao and the others to sit down, and Bai Hao suddenly said to Qin Nan, "The people have arrived."

Qin Nan was stunned for a moment, then realized what was happening and went to the front yard in confusion. The door hadn't been closed, and Pi Sheng and Qin Fang were walking in.

Qin Nan stood there, stunned, watching the two of them greet him familiarly, say "Happy New Year," and then go into the backyard talking about something.

Qin Nan was surprised but also delighted by the continuous stream of visitors; it had been a long time since she had celebrated the New Year with such liveliness.

In the morning, Qin Nan offered incense and placed offerings for her grandfather's portrait. As for Qin Nan's parents, she did not have their portraits and did not know where their graves were. Her grandfather did not say anything before he died.

Qin Nan smiled and shook his head, about to turn and go into the backyard, when someone knocked on the door. Qin Nan turned around and saw a butler-like person standing at the door holding a box.

Qin Nan walked over with a puzzled look: "Hello, may I ask who you are?"

"Is Mr. Qin Nan here?"

Qin Nan: "That's me."

The person at the door greeted Qin Nan, handed her the items, and then quickly walked to the street corner and drove away. Only then did Qin Nan notice that two black luxury cars were parked on either side of the door like gatekeepers.

Fortunately, it's a holiday today and the sky is a bit overcast, so not many people are out and about; otherwise, I'm afraid I'd be surrounded and photographed.

Qin Nan curiously opened the package at the door. Inside were more than a dozen potted succulents and a letter.

Qin Nan gently placed the item on the ground, opened the envelope, and found that it was from Chen Qizhu. Inside was a photo and a greeting card. In the photo, Chen Qizhu was wearing a white dress, stretching out her arms, facing the sea and the rising sun.

The greeting card read: Facing the sea, with spring flowers in bloom, Happy New Year – Chen Qizhu.

Qin Nan smiled gently as she looked at the photo, carefully placed the greeting card and photo into the envelope, picked up the box and was about to go back to the backyard when there was a knock at the door.

Qin Nan carried the box over and found it was a deliveryman holding something that looked like a frame.

"Is Mr. Qin Nan here?"

Qin Nan: "Uh, that's me."

"Hello, your package, please sign for it."

Qin Nan: "Okay, could you please put it inside for me?"

It wasn't a very big thing, but Qin Nan had another box of it, so he had no choice but to ask someone for help.

"OK."

The deliveryman helped place the package next to the cabinet in the front hall and then left.

Qin Nan glanced at the express delivery slip; the sender was Wu Yulin.

Qin Nan thought for a moment and roughly guessed what it was, so she wasn't in a hurry to open it.

Qin Nan wondered if anyone else would arrive. After thinking for a while, Bai Muqiu came over, picking his teeth with a toothpick: "Brother Nan, there are two more people, they'll be here soon. Hey? What's this? Oh, a succulent!"

Bai Muqiu reached out and took out a small pot, shaped like a lotus flower. Each petal looked very full, and the small flower brought joy to people's hearts.

Bai Muqiu: "Those that are raised with care are different; they all have a touch of spirit."

Qin Nan no longer seems to possess any spiritual energy, but she is indeed very well-cared for.

As the two were discussing how to recover, a taxi stopped outside and honked its horn. The two exchanged glances, walked out of the lobby to the front door, and the car door opened. Chen Qiang helped An Bei out of the car. Both of them were injured and supported each other.

Qin Nan and the other person were startled and rushed over. Bai Muqiu helped An Bei up, and Chen Qiang paid the fare and then quickly put An Bei on his shoulders.

Qin Nan: "Let's go inside first."

Anbei's consciousness was somewhat hazy. Chen Qiang was alright, but his complexion was extremely poor. He didn't speak, just nodded. The four of them entered the front hall together, where Bai Hao was already waiting.

Before Qin Nan could speak, Bai Hao stepped forward and pointed a finger at An Bei's forehead. An Bei trembled, his face filled with terror as he came to his senses. He collapsed to the ground, covered in cold sweat, panting heavily, his lips pale and trembling.

Chen Qiang: "Master!"

Chen Qiang knelt on one knee beside him, letting An Bei lean against his shoulder.

Qin Nan and Bai Muqiu moved to the side, huddled together.

After a while, Anbei calmed down and leaned weakly against Chen Qiang.

Anbei glanced at Bai Hao listlessly: "Thank you... thank you."

Bai Hao asked calmly, "Why bother?"

Anbei smiled and said, "No regrets."
