Chapter 104 Give Me a Minute

The room was very clean, with thick carpet on the floor. The corners of the table and cabinets were wrapped with thick cloth. A fruit plate could be seen on the coffee table, but there were no knives or sharp objects.

"Doctor Gao, please come in." A woman in a white shirt welcomed Doctor Gao and Chen Ge into the house. She looked to be around 40 years old and was well maintained.

"Is Wang Xin's condition better?"

"She's taking sleeping pills and the two antidepressant drugs you prescribed, but the effects are poor." The woman smiled bitterly. "The condition hasn't improved much. On the contrary, the side effects are quite obvious. She's retching, shaking hands, and shivering. At lunch today, she couldn't even hold her chopsticks steady, and the food she picked up fell to the floor. Doctor Gao, do you think Wang Xin can get better?"

"Believe me, she will get better."

"Yes." The woman only then noticed Chen Ge following behind her: "Who is this?"

"My name is Chen Ge." Chen Ge didn't want to waste time outside the door: "Can I meet your daughter?"

"This..." The woman turned her head and glanced at Dr. Gao, as if asking for his opinion.

"I'll go in with him."

After Dr. Gao nodded, the woman reluctantly let Chen Ge in: "The child was in the bedroom. He took a bite of lunch and started crying again."

The woman walked to a door in the inner room and knocked gently. After no response for a long time, she turned the handle and pushed the door open a crack.

Without saying anything, the woman sighed and stepped aside.

"Let's go in." Doctor Gao looked at Chen Ge and said, "Don't irritate the patient. You must discuss anything with me before you do anything."

"Okay." Chen Ge assured again and again, and then he and Dr. Gao entered Wang Xin's room together.

The carpet was thickened, the corners of the wardrobe and table were smoothed out, there were no sharp objects in the house, and anti-theft nets were installed on the windows.

There was no bed in the house, only two thick mattresses stacked on top of each other, and all the decorations were solid colors without too many patterns.

Doctor Gao moved to the side, and only then did Chen Ge see the target he was looking for.

A slender girl was lying on the mattress. She was wearing a loose round-neck white top and light blue shorts.

His skin was very pale, and his limbs were spread out limply, giving the impression that they would break if he wasn't careful.

Noticing someone coming in, the girl slowly sat up from the mattress. She was completely different from what Chen Ge had imagined. She looked normal, just a little quiet.

"Wang Xin, does your head still hurt?" Dr. Gao, who has a tall and straight figure, squatted gently beside the mattress, making his body lower than the other person's line of sight.

The girl shook her head, glanced at Chen Ge, and quickly looked away.

"Can you fall asleep then?" Doctor Gao continued to ask. This time the girl's reaction was more intense. She reached out and grabbed her hair very hard. When she took her hand away, her fingers were filled with long black hair that had been pulled out.

"I still can't fall asleep." Doctor Gao stood up and frowned, "Both drugs are useless?"

"Doctor Gao, can I have a few words with her?"

"Wang Xin's condition is relatively stable now. Please tell me if you have anything to say."

Chen Ge walked over and squatted in front of the girl, imitating Doctor Gao.

The girl might have thought he was a doctor and did not resist too much. She just pulled her sleeves to cover the red marks on her arms, which looked like she had scratched them herself.

The girl in front of me was very fragile. She gave people the feeling of a paper kite, tied by a thin string. If she was not careful, she would break, fly into the dark clouds, and finally be torn apart by the wind and rain.

"Wang Xin." Chen Ge took out the ballpoint pen wrapped with transparent tape from his pocket: "Your friend has something to say to you, so I brought her here."

Wang Xin glanced at the ballpoint pen without showing any particular emotion. She might have tried to smile in response to Chen Ge's not-so-funny joke, but she found that she simply couldn't do it.

Doctor Gao next to him and the woman who was eavesdropping outside the door were also confused. They really couldn't understand what Chen Ge was doing.

Wang Xin didn't respond, but Chen Ge was not in a hurry. He took out a piece of white paper from the desk and placed it on the mattress. He held the pen vertically and posed as if he was playing the Ouija board game.

Chen Ge had his back to Dr. Gao and was facing Wang Xin. He just opened his mouth without making any sound, and silently recited the first few sentences of the Pen Fairy game through lip movements.

Pen fairy, Pen fairy, you are my...

Wang Xin's mouth opened and closed, and her attention was slowly drawn to Chen Ge. For the first time, she turned her head completely and looked at Chen Ge's mouth. Suddenly, as if she remembered something very scary, she waved her arms wildly and kept squeezing her body into the corner.

"What did you do?!" The woman outside the door rushed in and stopped Chen Ge together with Dr. Gao.

"I'm helping her untie the knot in her heart." Chen Ge carefully protected the ballpoint pen in his hand: "Something happened to Wang Xin that we don't know about. That thing is the cause of her illness! Give me a minute, I only need one minute!"

He was determined, lying on the bedside holding the pen. Before coming here, he just wanted to complete the task of the Pen Fairy, but after seeing the girl's painful expression, Chen Ge suddenly felt that he should do something.

"Why don't we let him try?" After a moment of stalemate, Dr. Gao chose to believe Chen Ge once: "During my treatment of Wang Xin, she never showed similar emotions. Maybe there is hope this time."

The woman was finally persuaded by Dr. Gao, and they were willing to give Chen Ge three minutes.

The two walked out of the room, Chen Ge stood up, drew the curtains and closed the door tightly.

"Wang Xin, your friend has always had something to say to you." He hovered the pen over the white paper again and muttered to himself.

"Pen Fairy, Pen Fairy, you are my past life, and I am your present life..."

As Chen Ge silently recited, the girl hiding in the corner became more and more frightened, and the memories that had haunted her like a nightmare for several years resurfaced in her mind.

Chen Ge continued ruthlessly. Not long after, the pen hovering above the paper suddenly moved on its own, and then wrote beautiful handwriting on the white paper. The handwriting was completely different from Chen Ge's.

"Wang Xin, I didn't expect that a joke I made would cause you so much harm. You must hate me very much, right?"

Seeing the familiar handwriting on the white paper, Wang Xin was stunned. At that moment, she felt her heart was empty and she didn't know why she had such emotions.

"My death has nothing to do with you. I just saw you with someone else that day and wanted to scare you on purpose. After I put the rope on, I didn't expect the chair to slip suddenly."

"You didn't do anything wrong. This was just a mean and selfish little prank on my part."

"I'm sorry, Wang Xin. I don't ask you to forgive me, I just hope you won't be influenced by me anymore and live your life hard and happily."
