Chapter 2: Alternative Daily Tasks

This mobile phone application with a horror house door as its icon is very similar to the popular business simulation mobile games on the market, except that it manages a haunted house instead of a restaurant, an aquarium or a pet park.

Chen Ge stared at the screen. He couldn't understand why there was such a strange game in the phone left by his parents.

He carefully looked through the application interface. All the information in it matched his haunted house, including the number of daily visitors and the facilities and scenes in the museum. This game gave Chen Ge a strange feeling, as if the haunted house that needed to be managed in the game was the same as his real haunted house.

The two are in the same bad situation and are both on the verge of bankruptcy. There are too many things in common between the two.

"Is this game based on my haunted house? If I change the haunted house in the game, will it also benefit the real world?"

Chen Ge continued to read on. The existing facilities in the horror house, the zombie resurrection night, were criticized as worthless, and the ghost marriage project that had been in the newspaper and even caused a sensation was only given a half-star rating in the game review.

“I only gave half a star to the ghost marriage. I can’t imagine how horrific the unlockable horror scenes are later on.” He tried to click to unlock more scenes. After touching this option, a line of words appeared on the screen, prompting him that he needed to complete a certain number of daily tasks before he was eligible to unlock them.

"It seems that daily tasks are the foundation of everything. Only by constantly completing daily tasks can we unlock horror scenes. More horror scenes can attract a large number of tourists to visit. With increased visitor volume, the haunted house can be expanded and the venue can be enlarged, thus forming a virtuous circle."

Chen Ge played a lot of mobile games in his spare time, and he quickly understood the rules of the game - the completion of daily tasks will affect the development of the entire haunted house.

Click on the daily task, and three options appear on the screen:

Simple difficulty: The three major elements of haunted house design are story, scene, and emotion. A haunted house without a story has no soul. Please complete the background stories of the two horror scenes, zombie resurrection night and ghost marriage.

Normal difficulty: Repair all puppet models in the horror house before midnight.

Nightmare Difficulty: I believe you must still be curious about whether there are ghosts in the world. Let's play a little game. The truth will be there the moment you open your eyes.

Daily tasks are refreshed every morning. You can only accept one task every day. The difficulty and rewards are different.

(Attention! Some missions are extremely dangerous, please choose carefully!)

After reading the daily tasks, Chen Ge was a little surprised: "The tasks in the game actually need to be completed in reality. Does this indirectly mean that this game can affect reality?"

In order to verify his guess, he decided to take on a mission and give it a try.

Daily tasks are graded according to difficulty, and you can only choose one to receive every day. If you want to maximize your benefits, you must choose the most difficult one. However, the reminder that the few tasks at the end are extremely dangerous makes Chen Ge a little scared.

"It's hard to choose. The description of the nightmare difficulty mission is very vague. It's a big pit at first glance. Why don't we start with the normal difficulty? It's a bit tight to repair all the puppet models before midnight, but it's not impossible."

Chen Ge was a very decisive person. Once he made a decision, he would act immediately. He did not waste any time. Carrying a tool box and a bucket of unopened artificial plasma, he began to check the puppet props in the entire haunted house.

It was late at night, and Chen Ge was walking alone in the huge horror house. In order to save electricity, he didn't even turn on the corridor lights. He held a flashlight under his arm and ran around dragging the puppet that needed maintenance.

If an outsider who doesn't know the reason sees this scene, he or she might be so scared that he or she would call the police immediately.

"I'm so tired. I didn't expect so many puppets to have problems. It seems that the previous maintenance was not adequate!"

At 11:45 pm, Chen Ge received a task completion notification on his phone: "You have completed the daily task of normal difficulty. Only by focusing on details can you create a perfect horror atmosphere. Congratulations on receiving the task reward - the background music "Black Friday"."

"Isn't "Friday the 13th" a banned song abroad? It is said that listening to it too much will make people have suicidal thoughts. The original version has long been lost." Chen Ge found a CD image in the prop library of his mobile phone: "How can this be used as a mission reward? Is it a prank?"

He casually clicked on the CD icon, and a melody he had never heard before sounded in his ears.

This voice seemed to be born in darkness, loneliness and sorrow. Chen Ge felt that everything was leaving him. He seemed to have sunk into the depths of the ocean, or walked in a tunnel with no end.

When the song ended, Chen Ge's back was soaked. He was glad that he did not choose to play the song on loop, otherwise, he didn't know if he could get over it.

"Are you serious? It should be the original version!"

Completing the tasks in the game can get real-life rewards, which allows Chen Ge to see a shortcut to change the current situation of the horror house.

Turn off the music and save it carefully. After handling everything, Chen Ge went into the staff lounge.

Lying in bed, he felt very tired but not sleepy at all.

What he experienced today would take time for any normal person to digest.

Before he knew it, it was already past midnight, and Chen Ge was still staring blankly at the ceiling.

"I can't sleep at all!" Bored, he took out his black phone again: "It's past midnight, the daily tasks should be refreshed, right?"

When I opened the application software, I saw changes in the daily tasks column.

Easy difficulty: If you want to provide tourists with a very scary experience, then you must first pay attention to the rhythm of the tour. Actors and mechanisms that appear too early or too late will cause tourists to lose interest, so I suggest you install sound detectors and surveillance in the haunted house to keep track of the progress of tourists' tours at all times.

General difficulty: You can’t do it alone. A good haunted house needs an excellent team to operate. Recruit more talents and they will help you overcome difficulties.

The three new daily tasks made Chen Ge a little confused.

The simple task was to install sound detectors and surveillance in the haunted house. This task could be completed as long as there was money, but the unfortunate thing was that Chen Ge had limited funds and could not afford so much money.

Normal difficulty tasks are not friendly to Chen Ge either. An old employee who had been with him through thick and thin just resigned yesterday, and today he is asked to recruit new people. Not to mention whether he can recruit new people, even if someone is willing to come, it will take a lot of time to train them from scratch. By the time the new people can take charge, the horror house will probably be closed.

After ruling out the easy and normal difficulty tasks, Chen Ge set his sights on the last daily task.

"The higher the difficulty, the richer the reward. Should I try a nightmare-level mission?"
