Chapter 3 Nightmare Mission

"I believe you must still be curious about whether there are ghosts in the world. Let's play a little game. The truth will be revealed the moment you open your eyes."

The description of the nightmare-level mission is very vague, and it is not clear what to do specifically. It just gives people a weird feeling.

"According to the mission description, I should play a game. But how can just playing a game be classified as a nightmare level?" In order to complete the mission of normal difficulty, he worked for several hours without a break and barely repaired all the dolls within the time limit.

Flipping through his phone, Chen Ge became more and more curious: "How about giving it a try?"

As soon as this thought appeared, it spread uncontrollably in his mind like a vine.

"Nightmare-level quests have the highest rewards. Besides, I have no confidence in completing the three quests that were refreshed today, including the simple and normal ones. I might as well take a chance."

If the horror house cannot survive the off-season, it will be sold and closed. Chen Ge is very clear about his current situation. He finally sees hope for change, so he naturally does not want to miss any opportunity.

"It's decided. Sooner or later, I'll have to experience a nightmare-level mission."

Sitting up from the bed, Chen Ge pointed to the last task.

"Are you sure you want to accept the nightmare difficulty daily mission? Accepting it may lead to unknown situations."

"Sure."

The phone screen flashed, and the real mission information appeared.

"To see another world, you need extraordinary courage, extraordinary luck, and a little help. The name of the following game is You in the Mirror: Go to the bathroom alone at 2:04 a.m., lock the bathroom door, turn off the light, face the mirror, and light a candle between the mirror and yourself. Then close your eyes, concentrate, and slowly mutter your own name."

"Anything can happen in the dark. Maybe a strange face will appear in the mirror, or a pair of scarlet eyes will be watching from the corner, or blood may seep out from the cracks in the wall and door. All you have to do is stand still in front of the mirror."

"The mission will be automatically successful in half an hour, provided that you do not open your eyes no matter what happens during this period."

After reading the mission introduction, Chen Ge felt a little uneasy: "Is there really another world that ordinary people can't see?"

It was still early before 2:04 in the morning, so he didn't rush to leave. Instead, he searched the Internet for things related to the game.

After a while, Chen Ge actually found some. Some people had bad luck because of playing this game. Some were vague and mentioned disfigured faces several times. Some even disappeared from their homes and were suspected to have been dragged into the world in the mirror.

"Each one is so detailed and realistic, just like a ghost story." The more Chen Ge watched, the more curious he became. He runs a haunted house and thinks about how to scare people every day and how to give tourists a more thrilling experience within a safe range. After reading the introduction of this game, he felt that a new door was opening.

“It’s exciting just to think about playing horror games alone in a haunted house late at night!”

He checked the battery level of his mobile phone and felt that this historic moment needed to be recorded.

"I'll record the whole process later. If it's really that scary, maybe I can add a new project to my haunted house." He rummaged through the drawers to find candles and lighters. At two o'clock in the morning, he took the prepared things and went to the bathroom on the first floor of the haunted house.

Chen Ge had thought carefully before going to the bathroom on the first floor to play this game. If something scary really happened during the game, he could just jump out the window and leave.

The haunted house was dead silent late at night. A young man who was willing to sacrifice his life to save electricity took a flashlight and a candle and locked himself in the narrow and cramped bathroom without much hesitation.

"A closed and dark environment can best trigger people's inner fear, and the bathroom is the place with the heaviest yin energy in the entire house. Props such as mirrors, lattice doors, and sinks may seem ordinary, but they are actually the things that can bring people the most psychological hints in daily life. The person who designed this game is very smart. He knows how to grasp the weaknesses deep in people's hearts and use a simple environment to create the deepest terror." Chen Ge has a profound understanding of thriller and horror that is different from ordinary people. He analyzes and learns at the same time.

"Real fear doesn't actually require too many expensive props. It only requires amplifying the anxiety deep inside the tourists, and they will be defeated by themselves." Chen Ge took a deep breath, turned on the camera function of his phone, and said to the screen: "I don't know what the consequences of this game will be. If something happens to me, please be careful to save this video if you find it. It will be a key, a key to unlock the lock of lies."

After saying this, Chen Ge fixed his phone next to the sink. From this angle, he could capture both Chen Ge and the mirror opposite him at the same time.

"It's two o'clock and one minute. Three minutes left."

Waiting for death is more terrifying than death itself. In the silent bathroom, any movement is magnified. As time approaches, Chen Ge's heartbeat becomes faster and faster.

He looked at the time on his phone screen, and when the minute hand hit four, he turned off the flashlight, lit a candle, and placed it between the mirror and himself.

The flickering flame became the only source of light in the darkness, standing between the mirror and reality, like a guiding soul lamp, trying to lead out something in the mirror.

Chen Ge glanced at himself in the mirror and felt something was a little strange: "Has the game started?"

He slowly lowered his head, closed his eyes, and whispered his own name.

"Chen Ge, Chen Ge, Chen Ge..."

Repeating one's own name over and over will gradually make one feel unfamiliar with this name. This is just like writing a Chinese character repeatedly until one reaches a point where even one cannot recognize the character.

In order to avoid this situation, Chen Ge would count to three seconds every time he read his name. He was also calculating the time by doing this.

After all, the prerequisite for the success of the mission is that no matter what happens within half an hour, you cannot open your eyes to see.

"It was around two in the morning, and I was alone in a haunted house, lighting a candle, closing my eyes, and standing in front of a mirror playing games. If I hadn't been experiencing it myself, I would never have believed that someone would do such a thing." Chen Ge silently recited his own name, trying his best to stop himself from having wild thoughts.

"This game is full of psychological hints. The most difficult part is not dealing with the so-called ghosts and legends, but restraining yourself. As long as you don't open your eyes, there should be no danger."

Easier said than done, after the first ten minutes, something unexpected happened.
