Chapter 39 The Voice from the Third Floor

Time passed and night fell over the horror house.

In the second half of the night, a strange sound suddenly appeared in the quiet haunted house, as if someone was sawing something.

In the staff lounge, Chen Ge slowly opened his eyes and checked his phone - it was now 1:10 in the morning.

He turned over and pressed his head with a pillow, but the strange sound continued to drill into his ears.

"Am I dreaming? What's that noise?"

Every prop in this haunted house was made or modified by Chen Ge himself. He knew very well that no prop would make such a sound similar to sawing wood.

After sleeping for six or seven hours, his head was still a little unclear. Chen Ge pinched his thigh hard, put on his clothes, and took out a hammer from the toolbox.

He turned on the flashlight and pushed open the door of the lounge.

The haunted house at night was many times more terrifying than during the day. Chen Ge leaned against the door and did not rush out.

"It can't be a thief. Only a moron would come to a haunted house to steal things in the middle of the night. It can't be a mouse either. The sound they make when gnawing on wood is very light and subtle, not so clear." After ruling out the two options that any normal person could think of, Chen Ge began to think in an abnormal direction: "Could it be that the monster in the mirror escaped?"

Because there was not enough cloth, Chen Ge did not cover all the mirrors in the midnight escape scene on the third floor.

He stared at the dark corridor, took a few steps back, placed the doll left by his parents close to his body, and then dared to walk out of the room.

The sound came from above his head. Chen Ge continued up the stairs and finally stopped outside the door of the Midnight Escape scene.

"Sure enough, the sound came from here, but it's not clear whether it was emitted by the residual soul of the victim in Ping'an Apartment, or the dirt in the mirror." Chen Ge stopped at the door and hesitated a little. Frankly speaking, even he himself didn't want to enter a horror scene so late at night.

Tormented by the cutting sounds in the room, Chen Ge clenched the hammer handle tightly: "I have the title of the evil spirit's patron, and I have also gained the kindness of the victims of Ping An Apartment. Even if I encounter the dirty thing in the mirror during the midnight escape scene, it should not be able to do anything to me."

He thought of the scene when the monster in the mirror knocked Heshan unconscious. However, his plan failed because of Xu Wan's sudden appearance. This shows that this monster is not that powerful.

"Let's go in and take a look. Anyway, the monster in the mirror and I are already in a life-and-death situation. The more I know about it, the more confident I will be in dealing with it." Chen Ge was very calm. He knew in his heart that what he was afraid of was not the monster itself, but the feeling of facing the unknown.

When the door of the midnight escape scene was opened, a faint musty smell wafted through the scene, and it became more and more like Ping An Apartment.

The doors on both sides of the corridor were half open. Chen Ge held up his cell phone and walked in with a hammer in his other hand.

The cutting sound gradually became louder, and Chen Ge knew that he was getting closer to the truth step by step.

He walked the entire third floor and finally stopped outside a door. He was sure that the strange sound came from this room.

The door was not closed tightly. Chen Ge reached out and grabbed the door lock. The cold feeling instantly sobered him up.

He tensed his leg muscles and pushed the door open.

“Who’s in there?”

Chen Ge rushed into the house holding a hammer, and happened to see a burly black figure squatting in the bathroom. His outline was very similar to He Feng!

The black shadow didn't expect anyone to come in, so he dropped what he was holding, turned around, and jumped into the mirror, disappearing.

"Stop!" Chen Ge shouted and swung the hammer, but he didn't hit anything.

The bathroom was completely empty, as if everything that had just happened was an illusion.

"That figure is definitely not He Feng! But why is it exactly the same height and build as He Feng?" Standing in front of the mirror, Chen Ge looked at himself in the mirror and felt a little awkward: "Is this monster imitating He Feng? What is its real purpose in doing this?"

The appearance of the black shadow brought up many questions, but also revealed two pieces of information to Chen Ge.

First, the monster in the mirror can move away from the mirror; second, it can become like the person who looked in the mirror.

"This guy is more dangerous than I thought."

The cutting sound echoing in the haunted house finally stopped. Chen Ge squatted down and looked at the things that the black shadow had just thrown away.

On the rough cement floor, there were four crooked dolls and several sharp pieces of mirror fragments.

He held the dolls in his palms to examine them. The dolls representing his mother, sister and younger sister were just covered with dust and dirt on the surface and there was nothing wrong with them.

Only the puppet that symbolized the father had its neck cut in half and had multiple scratches on its body, severely damaged.

"Why was only my father injured?" Chen Ge quickly thought of a reason. The puppet representing his father had helped He Feng escape and ruined the plan of the monster in the mirror, so the monster took revenge on him.

"The four victims' residual memories are unable to stop the monster in the mirror, and they can only allow the other party to bully them. The difference in strength is quite large." Chen Ge knew nothing about the power of that world. He could only speculate based on the limited information: "The victims' residual memories have no means of attack except scaring people. The monster in the mirror is one level higher than the victims' residual memories, but it runs away when it sees people. From this point of view, the monster's own combat power is very weak, and its main means of attack should be on the spiritual level, such as taking advantage of the flaws deep in people's hearts to make people trance and hallucinate, so that they lose themselves."

Combining the experiences of Heshan and Hefeng, as well as what just happened, Chen Ge came to his own conclusion.

The monster in the mirror is very difficult to deal with, but if you confront it head-on, its abilities cannot be fully utilized, so as long as you find a way to lure it out of the mirror, everything will be easy.

"I need to plan carefully and try to get rid of it tonight, so that the escape scene can be put into use tomorrow night." Chen Ge's eyes were calm. The monster in the mirror was getting more and more rampant. If he didn't get rid of it, Chen Ge would not be able to rest in peace in his dormitory.

Holding the four puppets, Chen Ge left the midnight escape scene, locked the door, and entered the tool room.

While he took out the needle and thread to sew up the wound on the puppet, he was thinking about countermeasures.

"That monster is very aggressive and seems to be very interested in living people. If I want to lure it out of the mirror, the easiest way is to use a living person as bait." Chen Ge's hands are very skillful, and he had sutured most of the wound in just a few minutes.

"But the key point is, after I lead it out of the mirror, how can I kill it? I heard that ghosts are afraid of salt and garlic, but if a fight really breaks out, wouldn't it be a bit too frivolous for me to throw these things at it?" After thinking carefully, Chen Ge decided to log on to the supernatural forum for consultation.
