Chapter 22 Bachelor Party: The Evil Gift
The bodyguards blocking the door remained unmoved. Unable to break down the door, Xu Qingru angrily muttered "Fine" several times and took out her phone to call the police. However, one of the bodyguards snatched the phone away as soon as she took it out.
"Miss Song will be fine, Miss Xu, please don't worry. You should find somewhere to sit down."
Xu Qingru was led into a van by bodyguards, the door was closed and locked, and no one paid any attention to her banging on the door. Her heart sank lower and lower.
Kidnapping or something?
Is this the process for kidnapping?
Inside the private room.
As soon as Song Qingran entered the room, she was met with a series of complicated gazes. She couldn't help but sneer inwardly, thinking, "What a bunch of worms!"
Fu Xingyun, Song Yilian, He Jinzhou, Guo Shanshan, He's father, and all the people she wanted to take revenge on were there.
"Xiao Ran is here! Come and sit down. It's been so long. You've grown even more beautiful."
The one speaking was He's mother, a kind and smiling elder whose appearance was nauseating.
Song Qingran will always remember the frantic look on He Jinzhou's mother's face when He Jinzhou's plane crashed and he couldn't be found.
Her mother grabbed her hair and slapped her repeatedly, and even slammed her head against a stone pillar. To this day, there is still a small, uneven dent on the back of her head.
He's father insisted that she marry into the family and remain a widow, subjecting her to torment day and night by his family.
Her parents, who were once her support, have become completely different people. They remain silent about it. Her mother loses her temper every day and often beats and scolds her, while her father keeps saying that he is very disappointed in her and that she should atone for her sins.
Only her grandmother desperately protected her. If her grandmother hadn't suddenly fallen from the building, she wouldn't have suffered such a terrible fate later on.
At the time, Song Qingran also felt guilty and silently endured all of this. Now, looking back, she was ridiculously foolish.
He Jinzhou was the one who was out of his mind. She was on her graduation trip when he insisted on going abroad to find her. The plane crash was an accident, and she didn't have to pay such a heavy price for it.
Song Qingran casually found a seat, glanced around, and said in a cold voice, "What, not even a cup of tea for this treacherous banquet?"
Song Yilian's face darkened, and she glared at her fiercely. The way she looked at her was more like that of an enemy than a mother and daughter.
"Song Qingran! Is this your upbringing? Who taught you to talk to your elders like that? What, now that you've married into the Cheng family, you think you're superior and look down on even your own parents?"
Song Qingran didn't even glance at her, her gaze sweeping over He Jinzhou, who kept his head down, before finally settling on He's father's face.
She sneered, "Although I'm not some kind of superior person, as long as I can make my husband happy, he can indeed bankrupt you overnight. Uncle He has experience with this, doesn't he?"
Upon hearing this, everyone fell silent, their expressions varied, and their venomous gazes seemed to conjure threads, as if they wanted to strangle her immediately.
Fu Xingyun remained calm, put the teacup on the table, and tried to smooth things over: "Alright, Ranran, stop being so aggressive and don't argue with your mother. I just happened to see you outside today and invited you in for a while. Your Uncle He and Jinzhou wanted to apologize to you. They are all family friends. Your Uncle He and Aunt Liu have watched you grow up. There's no need to make a scene like this."
Father He gave a forced smile: "Yes, Ranran, I only just found out that Jinzhou and Shanshan actually pushed you into the lake. It was an accident. Let's just let it go. I'll have them apologize to you, okay?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he gestured for his son and daughter-in-law to get up. The two looked at each other and reluctantly stood up, carrying the tea over.
Guo Shanshan bit her lip and said shyly, "Miss Song, I didn't mean it that time. Please forgive me and the He family."
She didn't understand why at all. She used to do this all the time, and even more outrageous things, but everyone always sided with her. She thought it would be the same this time, but suddenly the He family offended the Cheng family and almost fell apart in just over a month. Even her husband, who said he loved her so much that he would give up his life for her, no longer defended her.
She was forced to come out and apologize, and tears welled up in her eyes from feeling wronged.
Song Qingran remained cold and refused to accept the tea offered to her. Her eyes were red as she looked at He Jinzhou. He Jinzhou gave a faint smile and, just like when they were children, presented the box in his hand to Song Qingran as if it were a treasure.
He personally opened the box to show it off; inside was a beautiful gemstone set, worth at least five million, with a card next to the gemstones.
"Ranran, after all, we've had a relationship since childhood. Can you ask your husband to stop?"
"I'll grant you anything you want, okay?"
He looked at Song Qingran with a deep and doting gaze, and Song Qingran felt a tightness in her chest and a wave of nausea. How could she have ever thought of him as someone she could entrust her life to?
Thankfully, she didn't marry him.
She suppressed her disgust and said, "Is this how you apologize? You should kneel down."
Guo Shanshan was furious: "You! Don't push your luck!"
He Jinzhou's expression also changed. "Ranran, you've become a stranger to me."
Song Qingran rolled her eyes at the two of them, crossed her arms, and sneered.
The three remained silent for a moment, and the others behind them also couldn't contain their emotions. They exchanged glances and finally managed to calm down.
Fu Xingyun's eyes were deep, and he exuded an air of authority as he spoke: "Alright, just give a bow, that's enough."
The couple glanced at their parents, suppressed their anger, bowed deeply, and apologized again in gentle words.
Song Qingran accepted the tea and He Jinzhou's gift box from Guo Shanshan. Everyone's eyes finally lit up with smiles, and they all breathed a sigh of relief.
The next second, Song Qingran spilled the tea on the ground, threw away the jewelry and cards, and even stomped on them. That stomp, though not too hard, completely crushed the faces of several elders.
"I will not accept your apologies, whether they were made in the past or are made now."
She turned to leave, but as her fingertips touched the doorknob, she realized she probably wouldn't be able to leave today; the door was already locked from the outside.
Song Qingran took out her phone from her bag, intending to call the police, but before she could even press a number, He Jinzhou snatched it away.
"What exactly do you want to do?"
He Jinzhou remained silent, staring at her with an eerie gaze that sent chills down her spine.
Fu Xingyun stood up, pulled out a chair, and the chair made a sharp, screeching sound on the floor. He slowly walked over, his large hand reaching out to stroke the top of her head, but she dodged to the side.
When Song Qingran first saw her father, who was used to pretending, with a sullen face, he became angry and embarrassed after being rejected. The domineering strength of an adult firmly grasped the back of her neck, pulled her towards the table, and then forcefully forced her to sit down.
"Ranran has grown up and become independent. Dad is very disappointed. You were so obedient when you were little, but now you are so rebellious. It's just a small matter, and you want to destroy us? After the He family, who will it be? The Song family? Or your mother and me?"
Song Qingran's gaze shifted to Song Yilian's face, but the other woman looked away, turned to the side, took a file folder from her bag, and threw it in front of her.
"Sign this and you can leave!"
Song Qingran's shoulders were being held down, but her hands could move. She opened the document and looked at it; it was a contract relinquishing her inheritance rights. If she signed it, she wouldn't get a single penny of the Song family's assets, including what her grandmother had left her.
There was also a document about the change of legal representative; they wanted to transfer the He family's precarious subsidiary to her.
Without a second thought, Song Qingran knew they wanted her to take the risk, to make the Cheng family back down, and even to help the He family get rid of that hot potato for her safety.
She snapped the pen in half with one hand and slammed it on the table: "I won't sign!"
Fu Xingyun looked disappointed and whispered in her ear.
"Ranran, isn't it good to have a powerful family protecting you? Why do you have to go against your own parents? Do you really think Cheng Wang loves you so much that he's willing to fight for you, disregard the interests of the group, and fight against the Song and He families? Men only look for women for novelty. What will you do when he gets tired of you and you have no family to protect you?"
"And what about you, Dad? You're tired of Mom too, aren't you? She's old and faded. How many lovers have you had?"
Song Qingran glanced at her mother without showing any emotion, and seeing the jealous and resentful look in her eyes, her last shred of hope was shattered.
Song Yilian was pampered growing up, spoiled by her parents as a child and by her husband after marriage. She got whatever she wanted, which fostered her noble and arrogant nature. Her only complaint was that she hadn't given her husband a son in the first twenty years of their marriage. Later, when her youngest son was born, she was troubled by her age and worried that her relationship with her husband wasn't as affectionate as it had been in their youth. Song Qingran's words almost touched a nerve, making her so angry that she picked up her bag and smashed it over Song Yilian's head.
Song Qingran was pinned down and didn't have time to react before being hit squarely. As she gathered her strength to break free from the restraints behind her, another loud slap landed on her face.
Song Yilian went all out, using all her strength. Song Qingran's face burned with pain. She covered her face and closed her eyes.
“I won’t return the slap. From now on, we are no longer mother and daughter.”
After saying that, Song Qingran stopped suppressing her emotions and turned to leave. Fu Xingyun tried to stop her, but she twisted his arm and kicked him away without any mercy.
Fu Xingyun fell to the ground, hitting his head on a stool. He was in so much pain that his face turned pale, and he couldn't catch his breath for a long time.
"Ahhh, honey, how are you?!"
"Song Qingran, you bitch, you even dared to be so cruel to your own father! From now on, I'll pretend I don't have a daughter like you!"
Without turning her head, Song Qingran took off her high heels and smashed the window when she couldn't open the door, making a deafening noise.
The others were stunned for a moment by this sudden turn of events. When they came to their senses, He's father called out to He Jinzhou, who then grabbed Song Qingran's arm.
"Xiao Ran, stop making a fuss. I'll do whatever you want, okay? I'll get a divorce right away and then be with you. If you don't want a divorce, then we can have a child and let our child inherit the Cheng family. Wouldn't that be great?"
Song Qingran was so shocked that she was speechless. She couldn't believe that someone could say such disgusting things.
She quickly glanced back at everyone and suddenly felt unwell all over. Her head throbbed, and the nauseating stench made her want to faint.
"Madmen, a bunch of madmen."
A piece of glass cracked, and she quickened her pace.
However, the people behind her were clearly unwilling to let her leave. She had to sign the document today, so everyone crowded around, trying to stop Song Qingran and force her to sign it.
Song Qingran irritably put on her high heels and straightened her clothes. Fortunately, Cheng Wang had thrown away her cheongsam and changed her into casual and comfortable clothes. She was wearing pants today, which were convenient for exercise.
However, she was not intimidated by a few pampered people; dealing with them would be a piece of cake.
She clenched her fist, preparing to vent her hatred from all those years, but unexpectedly the door was kicked open.
"Why are you here?"
Song Qingran turned around and looked at the person who came in. Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes widened. Wasn't Cheng Wang supposed to be holding a shareholders' meeting today?
*
On the bus.
Cheng Wang's expression darkened as he gently stroked the woman's face, which bore the imprint of a slap, his eyes radiating a fierce aura.
Does it hurt?
Her cheek was touched, causing a slight stinging sensation. She shook her head, wanting to say it didn't hurt, but when she met his gaze, she opened her mouth but then hesitated to speak.
Cheng Wang leaned down, bringing his head close to her eyes, and gently brushed his lips against her slapped right cheek. It didn't hurt; it was just cool to the touch.
"Wait here for a moment, I'll be right back."
The car door closed, and Song Qingran clung to the window, watching the man's figure turn back. About half an hour later, he returned with a box of medicine.
She caught a faint smell of blood on him, and a flicker of anxiety crossed her eyes.
"Are you injured?"
Cheng Wang didn't say anything, letting her sniff him all over.
He unwrapped the ointment, dabbed a little on his fingertip, and gently applied it to Song Qingran's slightly swollen cheeks. After applying the ointment, he touched the tip of her nose with his sticky fingertip.
"I'm fine."
"But you, how come you always end up hurting yourself?"
Song Qingran used a tissue to wipe off the ointment from the tip of his nose, and also wiped away the stickiness on his fingertips. His hands were broad and warm, with long, slender knuckles, and they were translucent white under the light. She liked them somewhat.
"It won't happen again."
She has completely let go, will no longer regard that couple as her parents, and no one can hurt her anymore.
Cheng Wang twisted his knuckles and slipped his fingers between hers. Both of them tightened their grip until a thin layer of sweat appeared on their palms.
"Are you really alright?" She looked up at him.
Cheng Wang hummed in response, took his phone out of his pocket with his left hand, and tapped the screen a few times. Song Qingran's phone vibrated almost simultaneously.
He sent her a video. The image was blurry, and the video showed a chaotic scene with loud noise. It was a one-sided group fight.
Everyone in that private room had injuries on their faces. Song Qingran glanced at Cheng Wang's profile, her expression complicated.
"You can't bear it anymore?"
Song Qingran shook her head, raised her fist and laughed, "Thank you for standing up for me. Actually, even if you hadn't come, I wouldn't have let them off the hook."
Cheng Wang rubbed her head: "I know you're amazing, but remember to call me if something like this happens again. I'm tough and can be a henchman."
Song Qingran was amused by him, and her phone vibrated again, dispelling the ambiguous atmosphere in the car.
When Song Qingran saw the message sent by Fu Xingyun, it was a photo of her grandmother in her hospital bed, along with a threatening message.
Think of your grandmother before making any decisions.
Song Qingran's heart clenched. "Cheng Wang, has my grandmother been moved out yet?"
"It's already been transferred. The doctor who treated your grandmother is indeed the most authoritative in the industry, but he's now with the Cheng family, so don't worry."
"That's good, that's good."
Without hesitation, she replied with a message: [Mr. Fu, someone asked me to tell you that he doesn't want to be your dog anymore; he wants to be a human being.]
After exchanging a few more words, Song Qingran suddenly remembered something, took his hand and said, "Cheng Wang, there's something I forgot to tell you. Actually, I suspect that Fu Xingyun harmed my grandmother."
Back then, her parents insisted on sending her to the dojo, but her grandmother disagreed and they had a conflict. Her grandmother got angry and wanted to remove Fu Xingyun from her position at the company. She also made a will to leave all her property to her.
A few days later, Grandma suddenly fell from the building.
After being taken to the hospital, Grandma woke up once and called out Fu Xingyun's name. However, the surgery was unsuccessful, and Grandma became a vegetable. No matter how many doctors she saw, they all said that there was no possibility of her waking up again.
Later, she was sent away.
"Could you do me another favor? Help me look into what happened back then." She tilted her head and asked him, without a trace of embarrassment or awkwardness, only frankness.
You have to give your husband a piece of your mind.
“I thought you were going to be conflicted again.” Cheng Wang’s brow relaxed, and he reached out his long arm to take a file bag from the back seat of the car and handed it to her. “Take a look at this first. I will find out about your grandmother’s matter. It won’t take long.”
Song Qingran was filled with curiosity about the file folder in her hand, her feelings a mix of heaviness and something else entirely.
The document was very thick, and she read it for a long time. After she finished reading it, her eyes were a little sore. She was shocked, but she also felt that this was something Fu Xingyun was capable of doing.
It turned out that her guess was correct. Fu Xingyun had cheated on his wife a long, long time ago. His adopted brother, who was now living abroad, was his biological son. And his friend, whom he often visited, had a 20-year-old daughter who had been with him for a long time, and the two of them had a child together.
In addition, Fu Xingyun, together with his son who lives abroad, has been transferring Song family assets for many years. If this continues for another year or two, the Song family will probably be nothing but an empty shell.
No wonder she couldn't find anything. Those people are disgusting.
"I really want to know how Ms. Song will react when she sees this. I'm somewhat looking forward to it."
When do you want to announce it?
Song Qingran pressed her brow, leaning wearily against Cheng Wang's arm. "Our wedding is just around the corner, let them run wild for a few more days."
She didn't want her wedding to be a huge spectacle.
*
Time flies. The night before the wedding, Xu Qingru organized a party for Song Qingran, inviting a few close friends.
After all, given Cheng Wang's possessiveness and status, there are some things that are no longer suitable for Song Qingran to do after marriage.
In a dimly lit bar, inside a huge themed private room, Xu Qingru held a champagne glass in one hand and a microphone in the other, shouting loudly.
"Honey, I've prepared a gift for you tonight. Please accept it with a smile."
As the voice faded, everyone looked at Song Qingran, who was surrounded by people on the sofa, her smiling lips revealing a hint of wickedness.
Shen Yan's fiancée, Rongrong, also arrived. With wide, curious eyes, she looked around and nervously tugged at Song Qingran's hand, asking questions.
"Sister Ran, what gift is it? Sister Qingru's eyes are so strange and wicked!"
